OOS R 😭😭 Good luck to everyone else
I assume the sameHey guys. Does anyone know if there are 2 WL this year? In the past there has been one for OOS and one for IS.
Will be withdrawing my OOS A here. I hope it helps some of you on the waitlist!
Really loved Nevada and UNR overall and I wish everyone attending becomes great physicians for the state and beyond!
I think they take off OOS WL if someone withdraws, they try to keep the same splitDoes anyone know if OOS withdraws will be replaced by OOS WL applicants? Or could it be OOS or IS that gets this spot?
March 20 will likely be the day they release waitlist locationsI am confused because on MSAR for UNR, it says Notification of Final Admission Decisions March 20th, 2025. But on the flyer we were emailed it said that the last batch of decisions would be released in Feb.
I heard that was April 1st ?March 20 will likely be the day they release waitlist locations
You're right, mbI heard that was April 1st ?
Is this rage bait...? It's literally 4 weeks in the span of your 8 year minimum career. When we say we have a shortage of doctors, it refers more to the distribution of doctors in the US. It is one of the biggest issues in American health care, particularly in Nevada. Also, being able to do a home stay sounds sick.I just found out this school REQUIRES a 4 week RURAL rotation in the middle of no where......
Per their website:
"Our required rural rotation emphasizes the importance of health care in small, rural and frontier communities. Over a four-week period, students live and work alongside their preceptors, gaining firsthand insight into the realities of rural health care. This rotation enhances clinical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and understanding of community health challenges, while also providing opportunities for interprofessional learning and in-depth exploration of health disparities."
So we have to live in the middle of no where for a four week rotation?
Depends what tier you are in and hard to say. They also accept less OOS people so while the list may be shorter, this is likely reflective that there may not be as much movement on the list.anyone have insight on how likely it is to get off of OOS WL? i know OOS list is shorter and wondering if there are any trends from previous years
hey I have a similar question. I was told I’m in the middle tier on the OOS waitlist. I don’t wanna hold onto much hope so should I just start my re app?Depends what tier you are in and hard to say. As hard as it is, you should be prepared to restart it this year. Evaluate your weaknesses and if you haven't been working to improve on them, you should consider if it makes sense to jump back in to another cycle. As an example, if you haven't continued volunteering throughout the cycle, now is an excellent time to start up again. UNR doesn't really consider "future" hours so unless there's added hours from last years app, then you aren't showing continuity.hey I have a similar question. Not expecting much WL movement this year. I think last year was an anomalyHello! Just found out I am middle of the IS waitlist. I know there was chat on OOS waitlist but I want some opinions on IS! Thank you anything is helpful. (I wouldn’t reapply because I have another A, this is just my top school)
Did they specify if it was in state or out of state people off the waitlist? Also hoping to get off!!How many people do they generally put on their WL for OOS? Someone who goes to UNR right now said that half of their class last year was off the waitlist, but Idk if that would be the case. I am in the OOS mid-tier and prepping my re-application, and I gave up hope of getting off because god knows how any OOS A will withdraw![]()
I believe someone threatened students or something similar last year (I don't know all the details), which is why so many people who had been accepted withdrew, and so many people got in off the waitlist. How many people do they generally put on their WL for OOS? Fun fact: that guy still roams the streets of Reno!I believe someone threatened students or something similar last year (I don't know all the details), which is why so many people who had been accepted withdrew, and so many people got in off the waitlist.
That’s still very troubling to hear. That’s one big knock I had on UNR. Like, how do you let that guy in to begin with?Fun fact: that guy still roams the streets of Reno!
August 4th is classes start, orientation probably a week or so beforedoes anyone know when school would start? Currently on the waitlist but trying to plan ahead in case!
Hello all-- To clarify, the first official day of medical school is August 4th. This day marks the beginning of "MedFit," which includes both orientation activities and the start of graded coursework. Our White Coat ceremony is Friday August 8th in the evening.August 4th is classes start, orientation probably a week or so before
how do you know there’s not a single withdraw?Dang not a single withdraw yet, there is about to be 0 WL movement 🙁
There might have been, but the facebook group is at 64 people (there are def some students not in the FB group who are attending). Also I should say I am not certain, but also no one commented yet, so idkhow do you know there’s not a single withdraw?
All of UNR Med clinical sites are located in Northern Nevada with our main clinical partner being Renown Health. We do not have any other medical schools at our clinical sites. So our students are not in a position where they will be asked to observe while a UNLV student does a procedure. We have students do away rotations outside of Northern Nevada during their 4th year, but these are done at the request of the student and not part of required UNR Med clinical activities. In fact, our students have many opportunities to be hands on during rotations. For example, we do not have a surgical residency in Reno so our third-year students have the opportunity to be first assist on surgeries with their attending physician. Another example is that at our free SOC clinic we offer vasectomies, and students are able to directly assist the precepting physician. So, I would say we have strong opportunities to perform procedures. This post seems to be addressing clinical sites in Southern Nevada, and since the opening of UNLV and the development of a full campus in Northern Nevada in 2017 we have not had any required clinical activities in Las Vegas.View attachment 403166
This was on a different thread, but can any UNR students comment about the standing to observe part? Seems pretty concerning to me.

Congrats! I wish the In state waitlist was having as much love 🙁OOS A yesterday! I was on the top tier of the OOS waitlist and I interviewed on 10/23.
same! i at least wanna know my rank so i can assess my chances :/Has anyone heard back from admissions about their WL spot? Getting worried
@DoneDone3451 We understand this can be a stressful time in the admissions process. Those on the waitlist should have received an update from that admissions office that due to many of our team being at an admissions conference and recent movement on the lists there was a delay from the original date to ensure that we could release accurate information. Also contributing is that graduation is on Wednesday next week which is an exciting but busy time for all departments at the school of medicine. We anticipate an update to go out at end of next week.same! i at least wanna know my rank so i can assess my chances :/
What particular information were you looking for? Our main clinical partners are Renown Health and the VA, but students often rotate or have experiences in various private offices and other care facilities in the area as well. They are robust training sites that offer clinical exposure ranging from the operating room, trauma/ER, inpatient, to outpatient clinics. If you have specific questions, we are happy to answer them.Does anyone have information on clinical rotation sites? Thank you.
