how terrible of an idea would it be to touch on poltiical climate surrounding womens health if I am writing about wanting to be an OB?

I'm not sure how valuable my opinion is because I am another applicant hahha but I would assume that as long as you don't say anything super polarizing it could be okay? Idk, i mean the reality is that as an OB, this political stuff would directly impact you, so i feel like acknowledging that makes sense and shows that you are aware. but i'm not sure

@neurogirl2003 @evco140 @medstudent2516

Could any of you post the secondary?
QUESTION 1
NYULISOM seeks to admit highly motivated candidates whose experiences and professional goals directly align with our primary care mission and demonstrate a commitment to a future career as a general practitioner in fields of medicine that are anchored in the principles of primary care and address the growing physician workforce shortages in specific medical disciplines.
To advance this mission, acceptance to NYULISOM is paired with the offer of a directed-pathway to residency into one of four designated residency programs at NYU Langone Hospital – Long Island.
  • Internal Medicine
  • Pediatrics
  • Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • General Surgery
Please indicate the specific residency track for which you wish to be considered and explain the reason(s) for your choice, including those experiences listed on your AMCAS application that have confirmed your decision to pursue this field of medicine in the context of primary care. If applicable, please also discuss any other factors –such as your personal journey, academic interests or activities not listed on your application— that have influenced your choice. (350 words)

QUESTION 2
Please provide the response that applies to you:
  • If you are still in school, please tell us your planned academic, extracurricular, research, community service and/or work activities for the application cycle.
  • If you have graduated from college, please tell us what you have been doing since that time up until the present and your reasons for doing so. Please be sure to account for all your time since graduating. (350 words)
QUESTION 3
(Optional) Please comment on any significant fluctuations in your academic record or inconsistencies in your MCAT score; if you took a leave of absence for any reason during college; or any application irregularities that you feel would be helpful for the admissions committee to consider when conducting its holistic review of your credentials. (400 words)

QUESTION 4
(Optional) Please feel free to share any other information that you have not already included in your AMCAS application or secondary responses that you believe would be relevant for the admissions committee to know about. (400 words)

Does anyone know what NYU prefers to get for the additional info essay?

Is it worth applying to this school with no primary care related activities?

I got an interview invite. I can't believe it.
Does anybody know if family medicine is considered part of internal medicine for NYU, understanding that internal medicine is for 18 years and up? Also, how many seats of 24 are for internal medicine? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Is it still worth applying here or am I too late?

A bit of portal astrology. Has the photo tab always been there?! I never realized it was there...

Should I submit a photo or leave it be?

congrats! would you mind sharing when you submitted your secondary and whether you're OOS or IS? I'm OOS and submitted on 7/4.

hey, does anyone know if the monday interview (orientation + "meet your students") are taken into account of the actual interview? Do they ask you questions, is there a way to prepare for them? any advice would be greatly appreciated!

No! You listen to a presentation by the dean and then are able to speak directly with current med students 🙂

are they done sending IIs for this cycle? OOS, secondary submitted on 7/4 and haven't heard anything 🙁(

is the normal status message supposed to be "Application eligible for review" indicating that the academic reqs are met?

Those who interviewed, what type of photo did you upload?

I uploaded a headshot so that I could schedule my interview quickly, but realized they said "passport style photo".

I don't have a passport photo on hand, but could quickly take one and upload it in addition. Did I just mess up??

for those who interviewed/are interviewing, I read somewhere or someone said that our answers for MMIs should be one minute long and that the remaining 4 minutes is a back-and-forth conversation? I know the "time"is up to me (up to 5 minutes), but I want to make sure that for these MMIs, the interviewers will ask us questions after our initial response and it truly being a discussion. thanks in advance!

For my II it depended on the question, but I would say my initial response to the prompt was anywhere from 15 seconds to 90 seconds. And yes, the interview was conversational after my initial response!
