2024-2025 Oakland (Beaumont) OUWB

For the optional Q4, should I not answer it because I already talked about what I did in my gap years in my primary application? I can talk about it in a different way, but the Q specified not to promote qualifications already highlighted in your other materials so idk
I would not talk about things already mentioned in the primary. "Your qualifications" is pretty vague, so i chose to plug in a diversity/adversity essay relating to my medical journey. You could also talk about new experiences that you started if relevant.

This is a good question. I talked to my pre-health adviser before I submitted and she said not to answer this. I also already talked about my gap year activities in my primary application.

what did y'all do for the optional essay? I'm wondering if I should do a gap year essay (most of the activities are stuff listed in my work/activities), use my diversity essay, or do a why us essay.

also had a manuscript recently accepted by a journal but idk if its worth using a 400 word essay to address that?

I haven't received a secondary invite yet and meet the minimum requirements. Should I be worried?
I was verified first day, met all the minimum requirements. I emailed them and was told that I am under review for a secondary because of an IA on my application. I took it as a soft R and replaced the school, but I don't know really what the situation is.

im in the same boat
a bit frustrating to have a mistake you made 5+ years ago held against you

Anyone know the post II acceptance rate? can't seem to find it on all the excel sheets on sdn.

Hi everyone, M1 here! First interview day was today, and will continue each Friday (about) into March. OUWB is a great school so far. Good luck to everyone who applied. Reach out if you have any questions!
Do you know the post II acceptance rate for OUWB? I wasn't able to find that on any of the post-ii excel sheets on sdn or on admit org.

Has anyone heard anything to indicate they are under review? I submitted 7/11 and my portal still says "ready for review".

"Oakland County has a diverse patient population with a health equity divide that has resulted in a vulnerable group of patients that are underserved. Select an obstacle that primary care physicians face that work in these types of communities and discuss possible solutions."

I'm a little confused... are we supposed to address it from the physician's POV (like problems the physician has with treating these patients) or can it be more about the types of patient problems these physicians encounter?

I took it as: You are a physician working in an underserved community. What are barriers to treating these patients opposed to the patients you may see in a regular practice (let's say an affluent neighborhood)? Therefore, problems you and the patients both face trying to help the patient become healthy.

Idk if that makes sense but that was my take.

Any OOS still not gotten secondaries? I pass their screen but haven't received anything yet

@futuresurg613 @emchda check to see if you really did add Oakland to your school list. I thought I added a couple schools but it turns out I didn't, which is why I didn't get a secondary from them.

I also have an IA, got the secondary today. Figured the delay was because of that, but based on my experience it's not an auto-R and you could still get their secondary depending on what your IA is.

Per their admissions page looks like they sent 52 interviews so far. How many do they usually give in total?

Is anyone else having an issue with minimum GPA with odd issues from Undergrad? I had an undergrad cumulative BCPM of 2.9, but a graduate SMP (32 cred) GPA of 3.71. They have repeatedly told me my GPA doesn't meet their minimum requirements despite the fact that their website states the following:
Cumulative graduate BCPM GPA of 3.5 with at least 24 credit hours in the math and sciences.

Anyone able to advise on how to elevate this further?

Reach out to their admissions office via email or phone and ask for an exception or re-review.

Here's the odd part. One admissions officer responded and told me they would re-review. Another just repeated that my undergraduate GPA was not adequate....Despite having more than enough graduate credits >3.5....I don't want to piss someone off by reaching out and saying "Actually you're wrong."

Is there any recourse here?

I am also going back and fourth with them as well. They told me to go their website and review it again. So I screen shotted with some additional GPA and all the other admission requirements.

I also got this response.... I decided to reach out to AAMC, but I am confused....

""The circled GPA is not what has been reported to us on the primary application. (This is the exact screen shot from the printed AMCAS application)

Please contact AAMC to understand how the GPAs are calculated.

Thank you""

Going to reach out privately.
