Secondaries are automatically sent to all applicants. If you submit before August it usually takes around 2 weeks to hear back with an II or R.

There is a 25% max cap on non-residents - 75% of matriculated students must be OK residents. This is state law.

First interview day is on 8/28, and interviews run up until 12/5. Interview invites are offered about 1 week ahead of time. There are 10 interview days total throughout the cycle, and each interview lasts approx. 1.5 hrs. 3 committee members.

If you get an interview: Learn the AAMC Premed competencies (Link)- They base 90% their interview questions around these! Additionally, they will ask you an interview question about resiliency, which will likely be some flavor of "tell me about a time you failed" as well as the typical "Why do you want to be a doctor"

Is this for OU? The completion email mentioned review of apps would start September 1.

Yup OU. And yea I thought the same, but just met with admissions and this is what they told me. Tulsa campus interviews start in September so maybe that's why...Edited some stuff above too..

quick question! Did admissions make it seem like the ~2-weeks to II/R for submission prior to August would mean rolling IIs based on submission date?

I believe the first date any school can offer admission is October 15th.
A few schools wait as late as February or March.

Yes, was interested in figuring out what admissions told OP about IIs since the information they got is different than our complete emails which stated app review would begin in September!

All they really mentioned was that if your secondary is submitted August or earlier, they try to keep a 2-week turnaround time for II/R decisions. Any secondary submission date past that would start increasing the II/R response time. I would take the 2-week estimate with a grain of salt, though. My guess is the first II's will go out mid to late August. Definitely worth setting up a 1:1 meeting with their advisors to check in, they are very helpful.
 
OUCOM hosts various information sessions about the application process as well as about the program in general. Advisement When I was applying, I went to the application workshop and it was very helpful!

By the way, I'm a recent graduate from OUCOM, current Internal Med resident, and happy to answer any questions 🙂 Good luck with applications!
 
Confused af. They told me my app is complete but then said to make sure I complete a supplemental OU Health Sciences Application which was a link not the same as the secondary link. Did anyone else get this?

Same. I am also confused. As it sounds like they are asking for transcript copies and I don't really want to drop $50 to send all my transcripts to one school.

started filling it out, seems like it's just a more detailed version of the secondary where it asks what schools you attended for HS and beyond, as well as confirming residency. No essays in it. It specifically says for anyone applying through AMCAS to send transcripts to AMCAS, not OU - so I think we are good there! I am having trouble submitting it due to an error I keep receiving on the page where we select the program, so I emailed to let them know and will update if I hear back in case anyone else is having the same issue!

edit: they replied and said 2025 term isn't in the system yet, but that completed secondaries are still considered complete and starting to be reviewed. they will update us when we can submit the supplemental!

If there is only one question that asks about the other schools an applicant is applying, where would you put your ties to Oklahoma? Not a resident, but most of the families are there.
Would applying to a lot of other schools hurt your chances at OU?

Hi! I don't remember specifically where I wrote about my ties to OK in my application, but it sounds like from other applicants in this chat that there's now a supplemental OU Health Sciences application that you have to fill out in addition to your secondary where you mention that.

I don't believe applying to many other schools would hurt your chances. For reference, I applied to around 50 the year I got in! In hindsight, I don't really recommend applying to THAT many -- medical schools prefer applicants from their own states or regions, so as long as you at least applied to your local schools and maybe a few others, you should be fine. But more than that is also okay. Anyway, some people say that applying to many places can hurt your chances because if you have high stats, maybe OU will think that you'd rather go to a more competitive school, but if you're worried about that, maybe you could emphasize in the 'ties to OK' section why you would love to go to OU. That's what I did!

I can't imagine submitting 50 apps! That would be completely overwhelming!
Our extend family has been in OKC for multiple generations, but our immediately family moved away. Would have loved to attend undergrad at OU, but got a full scholarship somewhere else, so trying again! Boomer Sooner!

IS, interview received shortly after secondary submission (same day). Oct 7 was the earliest interview date available on their site. It says Zoom, but I'd prefer in-person. Does anyone know if we can request an in-person interview? Zoom is a bit impersonal.

Asking for a relative because I applied back before they did rolling admissions, so idk how it works anymore. I thought all applicants automatically got secondary applications? Today makes 2 weeks since AMCAS submission, but still no secondary. Is the turnaround time just long, or do they reject even at this stage?

The turnaround time is longer the further the submission is from the first day to submit primaries.

It really shouldn't matter, I would personally add osteopathic as well. I doubt that them knowing where else you're applying will have a detrimental effect on your chances.
 
+1 OOS II (moderate ties). For the prerequisite course list, how do we indicate a future course? I only have AP English so I'll probably take an english course in Spring 2025 if accepted.

I don't know if I'm insane, misunderstanding, or something else but all I see on the list is how to input current courses and not future ones. Could you or anyone else paste what it says?

If you are currently enrolled in a prerequisite, place a “CC” in the grade column. Fill out appropriate columns relating to quarter systems and/or semester systems.

I was accepted to both campuses and got to choose which one I attended. One of the biggest reasons I chose Tulsa was because of the Bedlam experience, which is a clinic run by OU Tulsa students. During your 3rd year of school at the SCM, you will actually have your own panel of patients in which you are their provider. There is an attending there to help you through your treatment plans, but you get a good start on practicing medicine. Another reason I chose Tulsa was because of the small class size. By being on a small campus, there are more research and leadership opportunities than there are students, so there are lots of opportunities to build your CV. Tulsa is a very generous city and that shows in our scholarship opportunities as well. Because we are smaller in size, we get to do a lot of retreats and build one-on-one relationships with attendings. They all know your name and interests, which makes for a really welcoming, safe learning space. A drawback of the Tulsa campus is there are limited residencies based here, so I do occasionally have to go to OKC to get involved with the specialty I plan to apply to, but it hasn't been a huge hinderance and I feel like the opportunities I have here outweigh the con of having to go to OKC a few times a year. I hope this helps!
