Starting here in August. I’m happy to answer any questions about the interview process, timeline to hear back, and just the general area because I’ve been living in Hamden for a little while now.

How much do they value/how do they use CASPer? Any hope for a 1st quartile psychopath 🙁

From my experience looking at SDN a lot last year throughout the cycle, I realized it doesn’t seem like most schools care much about Casper. It could be because more people are willing to bring up their lower quartile score here though.

I was 4th quartile so I can’t really speak to the weight that it has here, but I wouldn’t worry about it because 1. It’s done with and 2. It’s only a very small part of your app.

Where do you think we should do a "Why Us" or is that essay not necessary for this one?

For the "Courses" page, are you guys including only the strictly required courses, or also including extra courses that are relevant? For example, I took biochemistry lab along with a biochemistry lecture course but Quinnipiac only requires biochem lecture

I only put what was required. Some other school said not to include extra classes so I figure that is probably the norm. After all they do this to save them the time of looking though your transcripts.

Is anyone else having trouble sending their Casper score to Quinnipiac? I've already taken casper and gotten my score back, but Quinnipiac isn't available as an option on the distribution list

I saw on Reddit that they have a hard 2-week deadline. But didn't see anything on the secondary portal itself. Can anyone confirm?

will be starting here in august if anyone has questions about secondaries or the school! for reference, i had a 3.75/512, submitted secondary in august, received II in november, and accepted in february!

Congratulations! Are you in state?

The secondary invite email said, “The deadline for secondary application submission is 11:59 pm (EST) on December 16th, 2024, but we encourage you to submit far earlier as our interview season begins in early September.” Maybe this year there was a less strict deadline, but I am not fully sure

That’s interesting cuz they start sending interviews in July last year.

That reads much more like a soft deadline, if no deadline at all then. Cuz some other schools that have a ~soft~ deadline they will explicitly say something like "we suggest you submit within 2 weeks"

it is a soft deadline. I finished my secondary within three weeks and my cycle still turned out fine!

has anyone added this school after the initial transmit date and if so, how long did it take to get the secondary?

For the first question, are we still expected to address being a reapplicant even if we didn’t apply to this school in a previous cycle?

Site is very buggy. Why am I re-entering coursework when Quinnipiac has my primary....

congrats! recent grad here, theres several of us who lurk on here if you have questions

If i only have one withdrawal and no leaves/breaks in my education, do I have to answer question 6? I really dont have a reason for why i dropped the class other than it wasn't required for my major and i decided to drop it after the drop deadline...

Honestly I would answer it and say just that because otherwise it's easy for adcom to look at that withdrawal and assume you dropped it because you weren't doing well in the class and would rather take a W than a low or failing grade

i finished all my secondaries but did not apply here. i’m from a neighboring state. what kind of applicants do they look for? i’m thinking about adding it but only if i’m somewhat of a fit. i’ve seen before that they have a somewhat primary care focus?
Check their mission statement and website. The primary care focus has decreased but they still like it

Did anyone get a glitch where I must fill out the middle initial on the secondary application? Their office is closed now and I can't call them until tomorrow.

Edit: The office said this is common and just need to put a comma or period for the middle initial. They search applications by AAMC ID so there's no worry!
