For submitting our pre-recs, I received credit for AP Biology 1/2 and lab. Since it says that I cannot use them towards a lab should I instead put in 2 other upper-level biology labs even though it asks for Biology 1/2 Lab?

Does anyone know if biochem would count for their science faculty letters?

I also had this question! I thought I saw somewhere that it had to be from one of the courses listed as a prerequisite, but on their website it says "from a science professor who has taught you in a biology, chemistry or physics course" and I've always been told that biochemistry is classified under chemistry so I'm hoping it will be fine.

I emailed them and they said its fine!

Let me know if any future or current medical students here would be willing to read over my secondary responses for this school!

Sure feel free to PM!
Would you be able to take a look at mine too? More specifically the prompts about experiences that have prepared me to live in NYC, why I am a good fit, experiences with diversity/health equity/social justice? Thank you in advance!

has anyone been marked complete yet? i just submitted my secondary but my mcat and letters still haven’t been received yet

Recently received an email that my app has been forwarded to the committee for review

If my summer break after my first year of college was just barely longer than 3 months, and I wasn't employed full-time, should I say "yes" for the question: "Are there any periods longer than 3 months, from the time you graduated from high school to now, when you were not employed full time or in college full-time?" Or are they looking for things other than summer breaks?

does anyone know how to fill out the pre-requisites section if your school was on the quarter system?

I have the same question as zenvibes. How do we fill out the pre-requisite page if our Undergraduate institution was on the quarter system? For example I took 3 physics classes + labs throughout the year, but the portal only allows me to enter 2 of the 3.

Does anyone know if downstate accepts online courses? I saw they have a box to check if it was taken online

COVID semesters they definitely do, but for other reasons you might have to contact the admissions office to confirm. I didn’t see anything on their website

Just submitted my secondary and it says letters and MCAT are not in yet, but I got an email saying my application is going to be forwarded to the Admissions Committee. Going to assume it is all good.

This happened to me as well. It just takes a bit for it to update on their end! I submitted my secondary in the morning and by the end of the day I think it had updated w/ everything saying complete

For this prompt:

1. Are there any periods longer than 3 months, from the time you graduated from high school to now, when you were not employed full time or in college full-time? (no word count)

I graduated at the end March of 2024, but was a part-time student my last quarter (Jan-March 2024). Would I have to answer "yes" to this question?

Is anyone's science letters still missing on the Application Checklist section (under the status bar)?

Submitted secondary on the 10th and committee letter was sent on the 17th, but it still says my app is incomplete bc of LOR???? Anybody else have this issue

Random question, but in the pre-reqs page they ask if classes were taken online. Some of my pre-req courses had to be online due to COVID (taken in 2020-2021) so should i still mark these as online even if there wasnt the choice to take them in-person?

Will caution folks once you get an II, they give you 5 days to pick a date and if you don't choose they withdraw your app!!!!!

II received on 7/30! IS ORM. Lizzy M 72. Interview dates are early to mid August
Do you or anyone else here have insight on the "writing assignment" they describe in the interview email? Haven't heard anything about this before.

The email just says there's a writing assignment for the day of the interview to complete by the end of the interview day.

Similar type of issue. Took MCAT a year ago and in LOR status it shows recommendations received months ago but the application checklist still incomplete because of these two components. Contact office?
