+1 OOS A this morning!! Interviewed in September so there's still hope!! Good luck to everyone
Current student here. My understanding of the changes coming for next year's entering class is that students will now take step 1 prior to starting their clinical rotations in January of their 2nd year. You'll complete clinical rotations until ~January of your 3rd year and then have ~6 months of the Discovery Year (half-year I guess now) before MS4 year begins.Anyone know anything about the curriculum changes? A current student told me they are changing preclinical it 1.5 years and am wondering if that’s true.
Thanks for the insight! Would students still be able to pursue a dual degree in their third year, since the Discovery Year has been shortened to six months? Or would this not be an option anymore.Current student here. Overall I would say this is a positive move (IMO) - getting Step 1 out of the way prior to starting rotations will ensure you are better prepared to be in the hospital. Hopefully this helps but feel free to DM with any more questions.
Probably donezo according to cycle track. Weird that they still haven't sent pre-II Rs this late in the cycle yet. Not sure whats up since they sent R waves in February last year. My guess is that this week is when the R waves will come. Are they still sending II or they are done?
During my interview day they had mentioned they would likely be removing the option to complete some dual degrees during the discovery year. This makes sense now, considering the upcoming curriculum changes! It might depend on the exact program you're looking at doing now? But I don't think it will be as much of a given as it was previously. Thanks for the insight! Thank you! Just sent a request 🙂
Can I get an invite to the group me please? Accepted yesterday.
Does this make studying for regular preclinical exams more difficult?Current student here. I deleted this groupme bc UCLA made an official one. They’ll send out the link in a separate email! Can I get an invite to the group me please? Accepted yesterday.
The link should be in the same email inviting you to RSVP to Admit Weekend. If it appears as a long hyperlink, click the “[Message clipped] View entire message” button. Can I get an invite to the group me please? Accepted yesterday.
A few weeksHas UCLA dispersed any scholarships yet?
Unless there’s a deadline I’d wait or contract finaidGot it. Just wondering if I should wait to accept the loans through the finaid portal or wait to see if I get any scholarships.
Yeah I had the same question...Does it show how many people are in the accepted students group chat right now?
This number wouldn't necessarily mean they've committed to the school yet though, right?
Nope. That number won’t be apparent till April 30This number wouldn't necessarily mean they've committed to the school yet though, right?
Also wondering this for 1/15 intervieweesFor those of us that interviewed in late January (like the 24 or 27), do you think it’s over for us and we should just accept the WL?
also, don't they accept more than 175 to account for the fact that not everyone accepted will attend?156 isn't quite 175 yet (assuming MTSP and PRIME-LA are included in this number), so I would think A's are still going out
How does this work for any future waitlisted students. They haven't rolled out any waitlisted notifications yet.. So I am confused with the deadline. They unfortunately might be done with A's. The deadline to RSVP for Admit Weekend was last night.
This is the unfortunate side of being waitlisted - you don't typically get to attend the formal second look days since waitlist movement really won't start until May 🙁How does this work for any future waitlisted students. So the R Wave begins. Brace yourself folks 🥶🥶Looks like there were a few Rs reported today on CycleTrack. Wonder if they were post or pre II? Also randomly one WL on Admit.com
Yes, I would expect that there will be no true summer breaks even with the new curriculum. The current curriculum is set up to give student 2 weeks between the end of MS1 and beginning of MS2. While I'm not exactly sure how they'll structure things with the curriculum change, I can guarantee that the new curriculum will not include a full summer break like other schools have.Wonder if summer sessions will still be part of the curriculum given the new changes.
For those in the groupme, is the number still 156?
They could have sent A's to another 11 😉.. Also I thought they sent As to 200-250 before the final matriculation count settles at 175.Says 164 members!
I got two actually: one with the Subject "DGSOM UCLA Second Look 2020 RSVP" from Second Look RSVP, and one with the subject "DGSOM UCLA Admit Weekend" from Survey Response Thank You.Did anyone get a confirmation email for second look? I filled out the personalized link but didn’t get an email after.
Just jumped to 182For those in the groupme, is the number still 156?
They might have had a group of people they accepted a week or two ago who just got the email with the group me link. That’s what makes most logical sense to meHow’d it go from 164 to 182 in the span of a few hours?
thank you for being so informative - I appreciate the time you took to reply to me!i heard back last week, I think they rank you post II (interview score + score for the rest of your app) and admit based on that rather than the date
Is the GroupMe still at 186?
Probably not, We're likely just on their email list😭Same, is there any way this is an indication of the results they will send out tomorrow
