Anyone know anything about the curriculum changes? A current student told me they are changing preclinical it 1.5 years and am wondering if that’s true.
Current student here. My understanding of the changes coming for next year's entering class is that students will now take step 1 prior to starting their clinical rotations in January of their 2nd year. You'll complete clinical rotations until ~January of your 3rd year and then have ~6 months of the Discovery Year (half-year I guess now) before MS4 year begins.

Overall I would say this is a positive move (IMO) - getting Step 1 out of the way prior to starting rotations will ensure you are better prepared to be in the hospital. Hopefully this helps but feel free to DM with any more questions.

Thanks for the insight! Would students still be able to pursue a dual degree in their third year, since the Discovery Year has been shortened to six months? Or would this not be an option anymore.

During my interview day they had mentioned they would likely be removing the option to complete some dual degrees during the discovery year. This makes sense now, considering the upcoming curriculum changes! It might depend on the exact program you're looking at doing now? But I don't think it will be as much of a given as it was previously.

Does this make studying for regular preclinical exams more difficult?

How long does it take for myucla page to show the SIR/acceptance on the site? I don’t see it when I log in or on amcas..

Does it show how many people are in the accepted students group chat right now?

For those of us that interviewed in late January (like the 24 or 27), do you think it’s over for us and we should just accept the WL?

156 isn't quite 175 yet (assuming MTSP and PRIME-LA are included in this number), so I would think A's are still going out

How does this work for any future waitlisted students. They haven't rolled out any waitlisted notifications yet.. So I am confused with the deadline.
This is the unfortunate side of being waitlisted - you don't typically get to attend the formal second look days since waitlist movement really won't start until May 🙁

Looks like there were a few Rs reported today on CycleTrack. Wonder if they were post or pre II? Also randomly one WL on Admit.com

Wonder if summer sessions will still be part of the curriculum given the new changes.
Yes, I would expect that there will be no true summer breaks even with the new curriculum. The current curriculum is set up to give student 2 weeks between the end of MS1 and beginning of MS2. While I'm not exactly sure how they'll structure things with the curriculum change, I can guarantee that the new curriculum will not include a full summer break like other schools have.

Any late November interviewees (interview 11/22) receive any news? I have only received brown bag invitations and I don't know what this means.

Congratulations to everyone who received an A!
Super happy for you guys, yall are all amazing applicants and I'm sure any institution would be lucky to have you guys.
I'm a current MS3 at DGSOM, if you have any questions I'd be glad to answer. Just PM me!

Did anyone get a confirmation email for second look? I filled out the personalized link but didn’t get an email after.
I got two actually: one with the Subject "DGSOM UCLA Second Look 2020 RSVP" from Second Look RSVP, and one with the subject "DGSOM UCLA Admit Weekend" from Survey Response Thank You.

How’d it go from 164 to 182 in the span of a few hours?
They might have had a group of people they accepted a week or two ago who just got the email with the group me link. That’s what makes most logical sense to me
