IS = in-stateHello, I am new to the forum. Can someone please explain what "IS" "II" and other abbreviations mean?
Thank you!
"The Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC) will not be holding in-person interviews for the 2024–2025 academic year. All applicants selected for an interview will participate in a virtual interview."Out of curiosity, is interview in person or virtual meeting?
Did you have an interview? How long after your interview date does Keck usually release decisions?
Last yr they did interviews earlier and didn't release any As until like mid november 😔How long after your interview date does Keck usually release decisions?
I was wondering the same. Anyone has any insight about this?Does Keck have a filter by MCAT?
I found this in Keck website, at least tell us there is no cut-off scores. Perhaps they evaluate applicants holistically and not by filter of MCAT and GPA...I was wondering the same. Anyone has any insight about this?
My friend had a II last cycle with a 508 and the other a 510.I was wondering the same. Anyone has any insight about this?
Yes!Did you have an interview?
Did you get accepted? My friend had a II last cycle with a 508 and the other a 510.
the 508 yes the 510 noDid you get accepted?
I don't think that's necessarily true, not losing hope yet!Based on last cycle's thread no interview by November = it's over. Just gonna go ahead and remove this school from my thoughts.
The email didn't even say interview it just said take the next step with ur application or somethingAnyone can share a copy of II letter? Just curious what subject and letter looks like... 🤔
$10 on underOver/Under: 19.5 Days (aka by the start of December) for Keck to start making post-interview decisions
10 on over lolOver/Under: 19.5 Days (aka by the start of December) for Keck to start making post-interview decisions
Bro knows something we don'tputting the house on this thursday
Students are involved in their interview process and they don't want your buddy to interview you or review your appok i just realized that in the secondary, when they ask you if you have any friends attending the school, I only put like 2 of the 7 people I know going here HAHAHA. thats not going to end up being a problem right? why are they even asking that? im assuming for conflicts of interest?
aight well im interview-less for now but i guess I should update them if i do end up getting one?Students are involved in their interview process and they don't want your buddy to interview you or review your app
No clue tbh. I personally wouldn't bother.aight well im interview-less for now but i guess I should update them if i do end up getting one?
Lol this school is just strange. If you look on MSAR and previous threads they like students with 519-517 MCAT range. I think they know the 520+ will go to other schools and accepting too many below 515 hurts their ranking. Definitely a "mid-tier" school if I've ever seen one.Lmao why is Keck so sparse/slow with interviews, it seems like they barely interview anyone
They have a known history of being ultra selective and also they love their legacy students.Lmao why is Keck so sparse/slow with interviews, it seems like they barely interview anyone
You're telling me the recent legacy admissions ban won't work? Shocker. They have a known history of being ultra selective and also they love their legacy students.
Or those students had mediocre essays they decided weren't worth interviewing.Lol this school is just strange. If you look on MSAR and previous threads they like students with 519-517 MCAT range. I doubt it. If you watch Dr. Arias present her talks she claims the personal statement isn't that important. That + the useless secondary prompts makes me think writing is not such a key factor at this schoolOr those students had mediocre essays they decided weren't worth interviewing.
Where does she say this? Can you send the link? This seems highly unlikely imhoI doubt it. If you watch Dr. Arias present her talks she claims she doesn't read the personal statement until after they've decided they want to accept you. That + the useless secondary prompts makes me think writing is not such a key factor at this school
She doesn't. But it doesn't sound like she speaks for the entire school.I doubt it. I misremembered. Start it around 27:10. Either way, mentioning that it's read "dead last" and that 90% of them don't move the needle speaks for itself.
I took it to mean "Don't worry if your personal statement is average. 80-90% are average."¯\_(ツ)_/¯
When I hear "don't fuss over your personal statement", and that the rare "spectacular ones" don't make a big difference, I interpret it as it is.
mid-school moment tbhLol this school is just strange. If you look on MSAR and previous threads they like students with 519-517 MCAT range. I think they know the 520+ will go to other schools and accepting too many below 515 hurts their ranking. Definitely a "mid-tier" school if I've ever seen one.
They do Thursdays so if it’s not this Thursday we’re not getting anything for a while 😔At my interview, they mentioned that we could expect to hear back in the 3rd week of November so hopefully sometime soon
How do you know thursday is the day? Has it historically been only on thursdays (i am so strressed waiting)They do Thursdays so if it’s not this Thursday we’re not getting anything for a while 😔
