I have not heard back yet and also interviewed 11/7-11/8. Feeling nervous because I know some people who interviewed that day and already heard back.
I'm with you, they told us they would give us a response by Nov 20th. I'm also feeling nervous but I'm constantly reminding myself not to let the unknown stop me from enjoying life!

Hi everyone,

I hope you're doing well! I’m an admitted IS applicant and have already paid the first deposit. While reviewing my prerequisite checklist, I noticed that my physics requirement is marked as incomplete.

I completed three quarters (one academic year) of physics at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), and here are the courses I took:
  • PHYS 1A - Mechanics (3 quarter units)
  • PHYS 1AL - Mechanics Laboratory (2 quarter units)
  • PHYS 1B - Electricity & Magnetism (3 quarter units)
  • PHYS 1BL - Electricity & Magnetism Lab (2 quarter units)
  • PHYS 1C - Waves, Optics, & Modern Physics (3 quarter units)
  • PHYS 1CL - Waves, Optics & Modern Physics Lab (2 quarter units)
In total, that’s 15 quarter units, which should translate to 10 semester units, correct? This should meet the 8 semester unit requirement for physics. I’ve triple-checked the conversion, but I’m still a bit unsure since the checklist says I’m missing the physics prerequisite.

I’ve already emailed the admissions team to clarify, but I wanted to check if anyone else is in the same situation or has any advice on how to move forward.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Where are you viewing the prerequisite checklist?

On my admitted student portal web page. The website where I viewed my acceptance.
That’s weird I don’t even see that on my admitted student portal. I wonder if it only pops up after paying the deposit. I would wait to hear back from western. Quarter unit conversions always get a little tricky. You should be fine though. Worst case if they need you to do another physics course you still have plenty of time

Yea it appears after paying deposit!

fellow UCSD alum who has taken the same sequence! everything on my checklist seems to be marked complete on my applicant status page, but i'm still awaiting a decision post II so I don't have a prereq checklist in the portal

OOS (Canadian) secondary completed on 7/24 - radio silence since then. Is this a good sign or bad? I got the "we are pleased to inform you that you are now under consideration for an interview." on 8/7

Hey!

I called them and they said since I did not put it under a "physics" classification it did not count those courses as physics.
For ex. I put PHYS 1A as Mechanics for course classification instead of physics.
However, they did say that I was all good in terms of my physics prerequisite.

Has anyone who interviewed during the week of November 18th heard back yet? Just wondering when we might hear back - I thought it would be two weeks from interview date.

just to clarify, is the interview two days long, the first day (thurs) is the panel interview and the next day (friday) is the MMI?

Haven't heard anything either. I remember them telling us that we should hear back around December 10th. I want to believe they might be a week behind since it looks like someone in the thread that interviewed around 11/7 heard back this week. I'm just huffing copium at this point lol.

it’s been 2.5 months now since I was marked complete and I haven’t heard anything from them.. is it still possible to get II here?

Complete 7/1, OOS, haven't heard anything from them yet. Is this normal for them with OOS people?

anyone from the nov 19 interview group heard anything yet?

Hi guys I have a question. I am an IS applicant and submitted my primary on November 28th as a low stat applicant (intended on doing it earlier but unfortunately couldn’t). I know the reason I didn’t receive a secondary is most likely my MCAT score (491–>495). I am retaking in January of next year. Would I still be considered after my Jan mcat? Should I email them asking if my application be put on hold or is that something they do on their own? Any advice would be appreciated, thank you and good luck to you all! 🙂

Prerequisites > Q3

I haven't, I interviewed 11/22 and they told us we'd hear back by 12/20, but possibly earlier/phone call for an acceptance. I'm also feeling a little eager/anxious, seems like they're having us wait until Friday, 12/20?

Been waiting all day too. My II was 12/5 and they said maybe week of 12/20, maybe 01/06. Hoping for tomorrow 🫠

Did anyone from either late November or early December II’s hear back today? Seems like there’s been news for both groups, but not everyone.

Edit: happy holidays everyone 😄

I wonder when they will just send me a pre-secondary R… I got the primary application received email 07/30.

WL email on 12/20 from the nov 19 interview group. hoping for some movement 🙏 and congrats to those that got the A!

does anyone know if it's too late to apply here as an OOS student, LM 64? like are they mostly done with their reviews now or is still a chance that they'll be giving out more interviews?

Hi guys I am IS and was complete on 9/17 but still no II. For those who were complete around the same time and received an II what were your stats and EC hours? Thank you 🙂

Hello! I want to apply this month (i know I'm super late in the cycle). My stats are 3.0 sgpa and 3.3 cgpa and an MCAT of 509. Is there any chance I can make and is it still worth applying? I really want to start this fall, so looking for any advice especially from current students who may know the landscape.

At this point I think I would wait and apply first thing in may for the next cycle

Hmm okay, do you think when I reapply with the same stats I’d have a decent shot or would i need to put in more time and reapply next year?

its hard to say for sure without knowing your full application. That being said the average western U matriculating student has an average GPA of 3.6 and MCAT of 510. So your gpa is just is little under their average. There is more than just stats that determines whether you get accepted or not though! I would recommend posting your full application break down on the WAMC SDN forum and I am sure some folks would be happy to help you out!
