Congratulations on the interview invite! Our committee prorates admission offers across the full interview cycle, so applicants who interview at any point receive equal consideration for admission. Good luck today, and hope that helps!

Hey, does anyone know if financial aid offers have started to come out, or if financial aid can be negotiated? UCF is my dream program and im in need of planning out my finances soon
 
Will they tell those on the WL what part of the WL they are on? For example: Top 1/2 of top 1/3 rather than just top 1/3? I've seen they have done so in the past and am wondering if they will do it again?

Also, is the WL split into one WL for OOS and another for IS? If so, do we think there's a chance that there will be more OOS movement than usual because of the BBB? People may be more likely to stay with their in state schools?

The waitlist is divided by in state/out of state. BBB or not, usually students who get into a state school in their home state will stay because of the cost savings. Due to the low COA for UCF, there are places in the U.S. where the COA for an in-state institution plus the cost of living exceeds our COA, so those students may consider keeping their out-of-state UCF offer.
 
Very similar to pmarz100 up there. Haven't gotten an II and I didn't get a rejection on the Feb. 19th bloodbath, but I've sent an update letter, status email, and I can't get anyone to respond to me. I feel like at this point my portal must not work.

I hear from so many people how good UCF is at communication, (I have a friend who gets monthly updates!) but I've literally not heard a word other than the auto-response to my secondary last summer. (IS, scores and grades within median.)

Hey! I'm currently waitlisted here, and I can tell you that the committee provides solid monthly updates and is very responsive to inquiries.

Regarding your concerns, interview season might just be over at UCFCOM. I might be mistaken, but I'm going by the details specified on MSAR, as well as Director Poole's message from earlier:

Does anyone know if this school is receptive to discussing fit for early decision before submitting applications? Also, I see on MSAR that 0 people matriculated through ED, so I’m wondering if that means they rarely take ED applicants or if it’s just due to very low numbers applying through the ED program.

Generally speaking I dont push the ED option. Our process only allows you to apply to UCF while you are under ED consideration and from what I've seen over the last 12 years is the Committee tends to expect at least as much, if not more from an ED applicant, as they are going to be a UCF student if we make the offer. If you meet the minimum criteria for ED and are invited to interview, you would be notified of the decision on October 1. If the decision is a no, at that point you may apply to other schools. I hope you are well! As we all patiently and excitedly wait for UCF's cycle results, I, too, have some questions about the waitlist process that perhaps fellow students or @LaurelePoole may answer.

  1. I know that the waitlist is divided into OOS and IS, but are offers given based on a master waitlist (with both OOS and IS merged together)?
  2. How many offers are given out weekly give or take? E.g. About 10 and they are given each 5 days to respond.
  3. Will there be an announcement if and when other parts of the waitlist open (middle, last thirds)?
  4. Is it possible to have a May general update at the end of the month? Or, based off past years, is the end of May usually just an announcement for the end of the cycle?
Any answers are appreciated!

Hi! Not Laurel Poole but I've heard that historically the top 1/3 is accepted. In her updates, she has mentioned that this year has been slower. I hope your daughter gets accepted! 🙂 Let's hope we hear good news soon!

I'll see if I can help to answer your questions.
1. We maintain one waitlist but do review the state of residency when making offers. Typically, a non-Florida resident withdrawing is backfilled by another non-Florida resident, for example.
2. Each week is honestly different. Typically we have less attrition as we proceed through May when students accept and hold our offers. Remember that the Traffic Rules with the AAMC request we provide five business days from April 30th going forward. There was one day we filled about 5-6 seats. And then we can go 3-4 days with making no offers.
3. We typically don't continue to announce when we advance to a new section of the waitlist, but we will continue to provide monthly email updates. We expect our next one to be late next week.
4. We always maintain our waitlist all the way up to the White Coat ceremony in early August. Although it's not common, there have been years we have needed to make an offer very late in the cycle.

We are inching closer to exhausting the upper 1/3 of the waitlist, but still have several applicants in that section. Honestly, every cycle is different, but we are observing a more average cycle of the number of offers, which is roughly around 300 total offers.
 
@LaurelePoole @UCFMDLuke Since today is the CTE deadline, would it be most reasonable for currently WL'd candidates holding As elsewhere to withdraw? Also, since letters of intent will not be binding past today, is it practical to remain on the WL supposing we haven't CTE'd elsewhere just yet?

Asking because other schools have onboarding tasks with strict deadlines, so an update would help clarify some of our timelines.
