A Lighthouse, A Man, A City...A BioShock WW Game

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Votes off wagons: pawprints on shark, chaos on mkg (hopped on and off Z fairly early), sporty on LIS (then moved onto me), LIS on kata then Sporty (then moved onto me), Lawpy on mayo then kata (then moved onto genny), alley on MsP (then moved to please)

  • Leaning @pawprintsandponytails v based on genny’s point that she started a new wagon with 40 min to day close and Z nearly leading. Her putting herself on her spreadsheet with a joke does feel like it was performative instead of her real spreadsheet (forgot who pointed this out, sorry), though. Cyndia was first to challenge her on her spreadsheet, when I don’t really remember anyone else poking at her at the time and she seemed to be flying under the radar, so I can’t see them w/w
  • @Chaostrodon neutral. Looks like he’s wolfhunting with independent thoughts, but some things he’s said have seemed suspicious to me. I don’t like AM’s reasoning for derpclearing him, but I don’t know if that defense was TOO strong/obvious for powerwolfing.

If please is wolf, I’m looking harder at people voting for me (especially AM and katas) and to a lesser extent those voting for genny, since they may have been hoping the genny wagon would take off without them having to dirty their hands voting a flipped villager together, then panic-hopped all together onto me once it looked hopeless. Lupin, cray, mkg, alley, and MsP will be strong village reads. If they were going to bus there was a much more obvious choice (wolves probably knew Z was likely seered, so it would be very weird to risk losing a different wolf when Z was at risk of being revealed and yeeted any subsequent day). I’m not ruling out please/genny w/w, but it does seem weird if the wagons were w/w/w and there were scattered votes – where were the wolves voting? I think there would have been a stronger push onto me or another village scapegoat by more sketchy players. Could have been playing it cool and waiting, hoping for a village-led push onto someone else they would sneak in with if the village push wasn’t enough to bring it into the lead, but it feels much less likely than w/v.

If please is v and genny is v, the push onto me was almost certainly village-driven imo, since there’s no reason for wolves to make a last-minute push like that which would sketch people out. I still think there’s a wolf on me because I assume there’s a wolf on almost all village wagons since they’re trying to spread out their votes, and I’m most suspicious of AM being the wolf on me. I would look harder at the people voting off-wagon (top suspects being Alley, chaos, pawprintsandponytails), since wolves would have had more leeway to prioritize diversifying votes over trying to save one of their own.

If please is v and genny is wolf, I’m looking at everyone on please’s wagon – none of them are strong village reads right now.

Sporty, Genny, Cray, Chaos, and Dina are my strong village.

Leaning village on Jaboo and Barks too based on content. My only pause is the rez.

MsP, Sporty and Kata are all neutral to sus, but more based on activity than content.
Anyone else, ping me with questions. I will try to answer.

Mrs mayo is going to murder me if I don't make dinner.

Apparently when you try to quote the chart it gets messed up. Anyway, her first chart from D1 had a lot of comments about what other people thought of zenge

So overall I’m really wondering about the focus on zenge and why he showed up in so many comments about other people when she didn’t seem to be wolf reading him at all? From what I remember of D1 there really wasn’t that much focus on him overall so weird to take so much note of it.
this is a very interesting catch on alley's chart. I also tend to sorta keep track of who's reading who, but only if it's fishy or a really good point. I don't think its a nail in the coffin but it could be a piece of the puzzle

@Viscernable None of your reads were about posts made or D1 wagonomics?
Not individual posts because I haven't been dedicated enough to keep track of them, but the overall impression I've gotten. I wanted to go over D1 wagonomics more, but I also wanted to post this well before yeet close so the only consideration for D1 wagonomics is just what I remembered/what stood out to me (like LIS going after z strongly throughout D1)

@Trilt seems strongly v to me, and their vote for me is backed up by longstanding sus and original reasoning.
Wasn't really long standing at that point, actually - I literally realized I still had you under the "????" in my spreadsheet more than halfway through d2, then didn't like the iso I did.

Then when you ignored my vote, then ignored the whole group of votes, the sus realllly followed. 😉

Mm. I thought will the 30+ hour defense more would have had more researching gone into this. Especially, given the caliber of your posts in a much higher volume game.

Yeet Vis

You sat on a Sporty vote when there was a three way tie.

Then moved your vote to Vis to break the tie with 10 minutes left.

You switched to Zenge only after the Dina reveal.

I wrote a note about it at the time as suspicious. It seemed like there was a late effort to save Zenge by moving to Vis, until Dina made it obvious there was no other choice.

It is possible that we were between two wolves at the time, which is why I don't mind the Vis vote today.

Gotcha. Ok. That's fair. I moved to Vis to break the tie because of those two I had Vis lean more wolf than Zenge and you can only vote for one. *shrug*

Wasn't an attempt to *save* Zenge, and I was very clear throughout the day cycle that I was ok with a Zenge lynch. It was just picking the one I thought was best of the two.

I'm a little offended you think I'd work that hard to save a fellow wolf. Never wolf'd with me, have you? 🙂 🙂

MKG is silenced as a side effect of her item use iirc from what @genny said

Shorty is post restricted

This is super out loud "Trilt will come and point out why it's a dumb idea" thinking.

I wonder about a game where we have players, mods, and two independents. The independents purpose in life is to summarize activity.

I have super enjoyed coming back out of retirement to play, but watching this game go on, I'm remembering that I just plain don't have time to be a good player. Watching everyone go back and forth with the "so and so attacked whom, but then this person defended the other person who had previously voted to lynch the fourth player, but the fourth player was on the first player day one until the second player brought up a stupid game mechanic and seemed unwilling to engage, so now we should all lynch the sixth player" ....

... I can't keep up. Real life, I work 12-16-hour shifts that usually go 13-18 hours, most often 2-3 days in a row. I'd like to play again more, but I dunno how to actually DO it.

An independent (i.e. someone I know isn't trying to steer wolf/village) where you can just use their summaries to 'catch up' ... might be useful.

Dunno. Maybe it's just better to hydra.

I understand. The game's getting a bit overwhelming and it's only D3. I can understand and empathize with the exhaustion and having to catch up/skimming/rely on summaries.

catchin up and stuff but I wanted to just throw this in bc i thought it was entertaining

Having herself on her spreadsheet aint sus to me bc (as I think a couple people have seen) I have myself on mine as "MEEEEE" in bright pink font with a pink filled cell. I keep track of my important posts (like giant reads lists and isos) and then in my own notes I jot down whos reading me what and why, or sometimes stupid little things like "lol whats happening p#xyz" or "soandso is being poopy🙁"
I'm over on p55 slowly working my way through!

So far here what I got

cray, dina, shorty, snow, jaboo, mayo, bark, genny, lawpy, trilt, alley, chaos, cyndia, lupin, mkg, sport, AM, kata, MsP, ponytails

will update these when im all caught up
Explain soflty. Where's vis in all this?

Hydra, I think, is just a reasonable answer. I also work 12 hour shifts now (which sometimes become longer... I worked 10am-2am yesterday because someone thought being down two techs and NO RECEPTION on a Friday night was a reasonable proposition and I had to wait for night to come in to get any damn procedures done ugh) and if I'm still alive next weekend Fri-Sun y'all just genuinely won't see me until Monday morning besides maybe responding to direct quotes.

I think the independent idea is just hard because there's gonna be bias no matter what. Plus nobody but me likes neutrals...

For the record, I didn't mean neutral PLAYERS. I meant a couple people who literally volunteered to just summarize the interactions in as non-biased a fashion as they could. Obviously, 'no bias' is an unrealistic bar.

But I just feel like I'm missing so much skimming as far as who is interacting with whom. I don't have time to do a spreadsheet. So I'm winging it. Yanno?

@Lupin21 hydra next game? 🙂

I think it's OK to wing it and just rely heavily on poast analysis. It's what I do.

It's easier on the brain, fun, you can catch wolves with it, and you're less likely to fall for wolf things that make VCA less useful (bussing, converts).

The downside is you lose the value of VCA and more holistic analysis, and some 4D chess.

Alright, hearing nothing, I'm leaving my vote. I'm ok with alley or vis.

I'm also ok with kata, Cyndia, tentatively AM - kata because I've been there the entire game and am stubborn, Cyndia because it doesn't feel like village Cyndia, and AM because I think an AM flip might be useful data-mining for the people that have time to do it.

Honestly could be a fun thing for a spectator chat or even the dead to do as the game went along, as long as there was one or two people available to neutralize the data and set publication standards. Published as an in game newsletter q12h or something?

Iunno, it's def a thought.

  • @alleycat03 is a wolf lean, mostly because of her reads being oddly z-centric day 1. Echoing, but this is a hard thread to keep up with and not echo, and echoing is pretty NAI for her, I think - but I have not yet been able to distinguish her village and wolf post styles. I don’t like that she was okay keeping her vote on please once MsP, who she had been voting for before, was also voting there (unless it was a pressure vote?)

MsP was a pressure vote of mine, and once she showed up on thread that is when I unyeeted her. My suspicions are not completely gone, but I used my vote to get her to contribute. I voted for pleasy because at that point she was looking much worse than Z when it came to wolfiness. Once Dina role-revealed, of course I wanted to yeet a wolf, so that's why I switched. In fact, that vote was the very first time I have EVER voted correctly and yeeted a wolf in the 6 games I have played since starting in December.

Literally the biggest negative critiscisms I get on here is that my tone is "echo-y" and that I repeat others. It's incredibly hard for me to keep up with these threads, which is why it takes me so long to do a catch-up and I'm trying to avoid sounding so echo-y and repetitive since y'all criticize that so heavily. Adding in the spreadsheet I started this game, and I literally spent 7 hours on Thursday trying to get caught up. I don't have enough time to do that tonight, so I will be speed-reading.

Plus nobody but me likes neutrals...
This is not true at all!

It sounds like a fun job for an NPC except usually people sign up to be an NPC because they don't have time to play, which means they also wouldn't be keeping up lol

Edited to add asterisks so people don’t think this is an in-game defense or something.

This was my plan but I think I’m too eager to please to be able to chill out while people get “angry” because I’m not doing enough (logically I understand they’re not actually mad at me personally, they’re pressuring someone they think is a wolf because that’s literally the whole point, but... 🤷‍♀️). Then I want to play even less because it just feels like another source of stress. I really haven’t been able to keep myself invested in this game because the joke/fluff:content ratio is astronomically low. The game is only fun to me when it feels like a game and you get to joke around with friends while playing. But people get punished with suspicion for posting fluff to the point that this game is 99.9% srs bznz. I don’t get it. Isn’t there sufficient srs bznz in real life? Why is it being enforced here?

How is sporty both village and neutral/sus?

Sorry. I'll refer to mother as mothersporty now on.

Shorty = village

MotherSporty = neutral/sus

I'm not a fan of mayo saying he likes the Vis wagon then completely avoiding voting for it for an incompatible read.

I'm capable of having more than one thought at the time.

I'm ok seeing what Vis flips because I think we would answer some questions, as I discussed.

I would much rather vote out my top wolf read, which is where I put my vote.

What changed to drop Cyndia when you talked about her D1 and D2?

Ope i think i missed these two before where she did say she’d keep an eye on him and then wolf read him without an explanation
I have had Z as a wolf lean since Day 1. Please see this:

Z went hardcore on pressuring MsP. I get it though, there were a LOT of us that were salty about how that game ended, and MsP playing anti-village contributed to that village loss. So I get why that left a sour taste in his mouth, and I agree with Anna about why several players are still salty about it, even though MsP's misyeet did help Anna as a wolf. Regardless, Z's pressure vote worked and it appears that MsP is playing more pro-village (so far at least)? I am not a fan of how much he defended this move though, so it pinged my wolfdar slightly.

I've never played with Lupin before, but I thought it was peculiar (as others have pointed out) why April posting first meant that she is instantly a villager. I think its NAI. I do agree that jumping on the AM yeet wagon would be a good way for a wolf to hide out, except it seems like a LOT of people were salty about AM from last game. Could be WIFOM if we read too much into that, especially since salt votes rarely stay.

I'm a tiny bit mad at shorty for apparently sharing a brain with me, because 90% of my thoughts regarding the past 6 pages were already discussed in her posts. To avoid being echo-y, I will just say that her reasoning is solid and I'm mad I had to delete most of the quotes I pulled.

Hey Mayo, is this a quote from the bioshock game or just a weird statement?

and

This exchange seemed wolfy too. I thought Alissa's quick vote switch doesn't make much sense (why vote if your "waiting" didn't even last a minute), and then she voted for LIS even though I can't recall a post from them so far.

Current Reads:
LawpyLean villagequestioning and joking around, he seems very chill (but I haven't seen him wolf yet hmm)
AlissaWolfySwitched vote off of AM very quickly, why even vote for her in the first place? Very hedgy and defensive of her vote
Zlean wolfNot a fan of the switch to MsP but I get the logic behind it. Got defensive though, and was very adamant about the nature of his pressure vote.
pleasylean villagetone seems genuine, but her overexplanation pings wolfy to me
AMlean wolfOverly defensive, misremembering, not questioning as much as usual
Shortylean villageI find myself agreeing a lot with her reads, she is also contributing to wolf-hunting and has a large thread presence that appears pro-village
Craylean villagelots and lots of posts, has not been shy about sharing her thoughts substantially, which is typical of her as a villager.

I went for Pleasy over Z after I unyeeted MsP because at that point, Z had made more posts that were pro-village, and his reads list seemed genuine and made sense to me. But Pleasy was all over the place and confusing the heck out of me. As the game progressed, I have felt worse and worse about how her hedginess and over-explanations relate to her wolf and village metas. I've been tricked before.

Hmm

What are your guys thoughts on mayos/vissy pack and alleys/AM pack? 🤔
Off the top of my head, I feel like AM has gone soft on alley? I don't immediately remember her pressing alley but that could be due to alley's irl being nuts and her not being here very much. i don't think either of those packs could be ruled out, but i do have village leans on both mayo and visc right now
Explain soflty. Where's vis in all this?
Will do, hol up (gonna post reeds)

Pretty sure we've never played together before, so unless I'm seeing it now it will remain a mystery.

Is pack theorizing like this a big thing nowadays?

And is anyone ever really right when guessing coherent packs? I totally understand saying things don't look w/w or look v/v or whatever, but I feel like you're sure assuming a lot of your own wolf hunting abilities when you're anywhere near thinking you've got multiple members correct...

I think I missed the second quote because I saw the quote preview and skipped it. I’ll give you some credit for the “lean wolf” in the second but still not moving you out not wolfy due to there being a lot of “but I understand why he did what he did” in your zenge reads

The srs bzns is the fun and is also its own joke. If you really need a laugh, all you need is the look on normal people's faces when you tell them not only about this game, but how much time you spend playing it. Toss in something like "Omigosh I can't believe Animal Midwife and Wild Zoo are voting me for using too many exclamation marks," or similar for good measure. Priceless.

I'm assuming it's all powerwolfing, same pack, so i'm looking at W/W interactions
