A Lighthouse, A Man, A City...A BioShock WW Game

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
See, my problem in the past has been that I get ragey, and then I'm wrong, so then not only am I worked up about whatever got me ragey in the first place, but then I'm pissed off at myself for being wrong. I've only been misyeeted once so far, so I can't really say if the anger in that situation helped or not - I'd say it didn't because I was so busy being angry that I forgot to self-prez.

Idk. Still learning. Haven't even done half a dozen games yet.
Being wrong is just part of it, though. You're playing a game where you're by definition having to make a bunch of assumptions and logic leaps, and where the main tool to find the bad guys is often just being wrong over and over. All you can do is work with the information you've got.

Basically, get really comfortable going "harumph" and laughing at yourself for how adamant you were about something that was blatantly wrong, and focus on when you really get it right. It's like ER work, lol, you can't focus on the six euthanasias, you gotta stare at the puppy who you bolused dextrose and came back to life or you'll get tired real fast.*

*person typing may not actually always follow own advice, but is aware is it good advice lol

In one of my posts sussing Cray, I'd almost said that the day that Cray DIDN'T say my tone sounded different, I'd know she was a woof.

So guess I can add that to the list of things I got wrong.
Yeah that wasn't a lie. I rarely say things that are total lies. It's more that I make observations and choose to interpret their origin is someone else's wolfiness.

Excusssssse me, just thanks to village?

for real tho, you all got me 100% village because I had to climb out of the kata hole. I probably would have been a little more chaotic if I was straight from the beginning.

can we get this straight for the future now
NEUTRAL MEANS NEUTRAL DAMMIT
Nope. Never. Exclusive wincon and must die until mod confirms otherwise. Lol.

The funniest thing is going through dead chat the wolves knew little sisters couldn’t be killed before big daddies and I required 2/3 of the vote to kill.
dude I would have been swinging so much harder if I realized the text with our role wasn’t just flare. It told us at the top we were a neutral duo and my description said this, “You know as long as you're alive, she will be safe. And you are damn hard to kill.”
legit just thought it was mod flare for a big daddy lol

and mods, I don’t think you made it too easy for us to play as village. I had to come out swinging as village due to all the sus on kata.
but at the same time I was willing to vote for people I thought were villagers (MsP) because her flip would benefit me. It was an interesting new way for me to play.
I’ve played 4 games total and have been village, wolf, and 3P. How cool.
The stuff about death in WW is usually the only place you can expect things to not be a joke or flair, lol.

Yes, yes we did. It was ballsy. It didn’t really pay off, but Cray explained our reasoning behind it. Still mad that kill #3 didn’t go through. Interestingly enough, we were going to kill Lupin instead of LIS, but I’m glad we didn’t because it sounds like all of our actions would’ve failed if we did that.

Cray told me to bus her with my vote, so I did. It still kills me that I could’ve voted for Kata instead. However, knowing that she wouldn’t have died (since there weren’t 2/3 of a vote on her), a random villager would die instead is crazy.

I literally knew my wolf pack had 4 people in it and I still wondered if there was another 2 person wolf pack out there somewhere
Where did you see this about the random villager?

I would just like to point out this was a slight slip from you Cray, and it's been in the back of my mind all day as another reason I was suspicious (but you did a good job of convincing me otherwise lol)

This hadn't been verified at this point. It was 100% just theorizing from me, and you said it so definitively at the time that I was suspicious it was your role.
Eh, I would quibble and say it was a miscalculation, because I did consider before posting if it rang like TMI, but I decided it was a reasonable theory based on write ups and what we'd seen, but I was wrong about that. To me a slip implies the person didn't consider the mistake when making it, I did but miscalculated surely.

I made a few mistakes this game for sure.

Yeah that wasn't a lie. I rarely say things that are total lies. It's more that I make observations and choose to interpret their origin is someone else's wolfiness.
The on-thread confidence wavers that I had were nothing compared to the full on existential meltdown I was having in my role PM, and that started on D2

Which in conclusion, I guess:

unyeet Lupes, yeet LIS

I think this would give us significant information about an alleged neutral bloc in the game, and the basis for my Cray lynch was based on his information, so if it's suspicious allll my previous arguments against her lynch (two wolf cigs at the same time, one liking posts and the other not, alley lynching cyndia in the tie, why is she so adamant about neutrals, ~vibes~) apply more, lol.

And just for the thread, after having to harass her for it, her role claim in PM is iffy enough that it feels real. Like, if she was a wolf making one up, I think she'd genuinely do a better job. WIFOM for sure.

pfffffft

You ALMOST made it through the game believing in me! 🙂

Now I can rest.

❤️ Big Daddy. ;-)

Ditto. Lying gets you traps. My overall meta is not lying. If I say something happened to me night X, it really probably happened.

I learned that the hard way with a 150% rookie mistake my first game or two and since then, even as a wolf I play it as straight as I possibly can.

I think @Crayola227 played a fricking awesome wolf game, especially given how things went early on. Tough to be alone like that just waiting for the entire rest of the game to turn on you.

Cray kept jumping in/out of my peripheral POE but tended to sit fairly neutral to village-lean the entire game, almost if nothing else because of volume.

Stellar job.

@Chaostrodon, I tunneled. What can I say. Mea culpa.

@samac dammit, I wish you had just outted yourself to me in PM. I put enough info in thread for you - given your knowledge - to assume what mine was. Would have been nice to be able to check boxes and say "Ok, samac/mayo are same as lupin/me, so that's 4 people I can write off the board." 🙂 🙂

With regards to my sketchiness for sharing my N3 attack late ..... sometimes the truth is really just the truth. Shortly after it happened I went into work-cycle mode and spaced it out and really did just forget to share. I did note it would be a sketch info reveal when I finally did it. 🙂

Thanks to everyone for letting an old-timer back in to play. My play is sooooo horribly rusty, and my ability to commit time goes in spurts that unfortunately means legit real-life absences, so I appreciate the tolerance. I miss WW - this was fun.

Shorty the problem with your ISOs is that you go in to confirm a read you already have on someone, more than you use them to see something that's there that you didn't already have in mind. No offense but I think you demonstrate the very best of what can be the very worst about ISOs.
The funny thing is this isn't wrong - but it's also not really how I approached my ISOs this game because I'm aware of that. Which is why my ISOs changed my reads on a few people.

But this is in my PM with Lawpy, I just want to prove that I do actually know the limitations of the ISOs.

The trouble with ISOs is you can easily find what you want to find. I could put together a very compelling ISO of myself that would convince everyone I was wolfing. I’ve done it to other villagers before (by accident). It’s just how you twist what quotes you pull. That’s why I’ve been second guessing myself so much this game.

ISOs are somewhat hampered by confirmation bias unless there’s something really egregious. They’re a great tool but can be dangerous.

I really enjoyed playing with you!
I swear I would have told you, but I’d convinced myself you were chaos and lying your pants off lol. I also lie minimally, nice to know we have similar styles. I claimed vanilla (which I thought was essentially true) and when you claimed the same role I had I was PANICK

Definitely a lot of hand waving and I got to test people by seeing who would post after lis was attacked to find wolves. Reason Cyndia was voted and I am pretty sure cray said something and I had her as a possible one as well but then I forgot all about it and didn't have the energy to really go back again. I didn't remind LIS to chat about his attempted kill to give me a chance to see who fished for LIS. haha

Fantastic game everyone. Thanks for playing. Thank you so much for helping me bring this years-long dream to life. As always you surprised me, shocked me even, and made me consider the game in ways I had not even dreamt of. Special thanks to @kaydubs and @SARdoghandler for co-modding, and to @Mad Jack for literally this entire game design. I can only take credit for some minor adjustments, and for most (but not all!)of the flavoring.

Please, ask questions, give critiques. I know this design was far from perfect, but I hope you all enjoyed it. Already considering how I should have given the "neutrals" more incentive to play a little less 100% village 😉

We'll be adding @Lupin21 to dead chat soon with the hopes that she can ferry everyone else along.
Belated questions that I probably missed the answer to, but what did alpha wolf entail in this game? Can't be yeeted before the other wolves? What did splicer seer do? What was the potential benefit to village and wolves from pursuing neutrals (and what were the conditions for those benefits? Just killing the big daddy? Killing the big daddy then killing the little sister? Saving the little sister somehow?)

Alpha wolf couldn't die before the other wolves were all dead.
Active PRs were designated as splicers. Nillas and neutrals were all not splicers. So trilt's results were "splicer" or "not splicer".
Had to kill the big daddy and the little sister (in that order of course) to get the benefits. Depending on whether it was a yeet death for the LS or a night kill death, either a random villager or a random wolf would get an ability upgrade (specific upgrade depending on their existing ability).

she's giving me 10 village points for zenge's read on me though! thats got to count for something, right?! :heckyeah:

I take it back, as of page 11 she is hardcore wolf reading me and sunny lol. kinda sus she's sheeping zenge
Maybe Dana is a wolf

dana's initial D1 reads:
- village reading AM and trilt

- wolf reading shorty VERY STRONGLY

- she thinks it makes me even more wolfy that people are going after zenge now

- immediately put Alley in village because her reads are in a table

update: Dana promptly wolf read April, said she was pocketing me --> April immediately dies and flips village
Update: Dana is now strongly village reading me because I'm good at speaking in gif and it's amusing her.

I may have started skimming from the point I came in for ****s and giggles.
My favorite part is AM and I go in circles about Dina changing her mind for 3 whole pages. She really did just change her mind.

So I can flex more.
*1 year later*

WHOS ACTUALLY FLEXING AM ABOUT DINA CHANGING HER MIND
WHOS FLEXING NOWWWW

Legend says she did submit Trilt but autocorrect was just sabotaging the village cred.

Dina discusses with AM - submits action

N6(?)

Investigate Trilt
Noted!

(it's N5)

Dina takes a shower and decides to change her target because she was hit with some epiphany or something... idk

Can I change my target?
Or is it too late?

I'm second guessing
N5
Uninvestigate Trilt

Investigate Chaos

Dina falls asleep

N5: You seered chaos and discovered he is VILLAGE. And then you felt a knife slide between your ribs. You are dead. Note there is a 12 hour dead chat delay!
Ope I probably should've told AM I was changing seering targets
Oh well she doesn't use mechanics to solve anyways
Oh God

What have I done?

That "Oh well she doesn't use mechanics to solve anyway" has the same energy as me saying "I doubt I'll be tracked tonight" in Baby Animals

When I have more motivation, I’m gonna go find the quotes from when I was embarking on my three hour AM iso and you were like “you are actually insane”
