In some other professional programs, it is customary to send a thank you letter to your interviewers. Something along the lines of, "Thank you for meeting with me...after visiting the campus I remain interested in attending BestVet University...the program is awesome...I look forward to hearing from you...blah blah blah."

Well...only much more professional sounding. Is this typically done for vet school? If not, do you think it would be inappropriate?

Personally, I think it's patronizing.

You thank them in person at the end of the interview..

If you're gonna send another thank-you.. why stop at one?
Why not go for the "three-dose protocol" of thank-yous?
A thank-you after the interview in person. A thank-you email 24 hours post-interview. And a thank-you letter one month later.

I'm assuming you are being sarcastic? I don't know. I am still wondering if I should send an email, or if it looks like I'm kissing butt.

It is definitely not necessary.
It probably won't make a difference either way.
It is still polite to do so. If it makes YOU feel better, then do it.

Thank you letters are pretty much dead in American society, with just a few pockets of use left.

Ok I'm glad everyone thinks it's not necessary. I used to be in a program where it was considered rude NOT to email your interviewers, thank them for their time, and confirm that you would still be interested in the program.

Maybe young people don't do thank you notes much these days, so then you wouldn't need to send one to someone in your age group if that's the way it is. But as an older person I would appreciate it and think it rude if I didn't receive one. If the interviewers were in their 40's or older, they may have the same sentiments that I do. It's a generational thing. It can't hurt to send one, can it?

Well I know my interviewers said I can email them if I have questions, and I do have a question, so maybe I'll thank her at the same time?

Then I get into I'll feel bad If I don't email the other guy. Gah!!!

I sent thank-you emails to my interviewers. As others have said, it's polite, and I don't think it's patronizing because the decision has been made already.

I avoided the thank yous so as to spare the over-the-top ass kissing feel that accompanies them. It really comes down to your opinion on the matter but it really won't make or break your chances. Interviews are 30 minutes (with maybe 15 minutes of actual questions) and usually count for some of the subjective score that encompasses admissions as a whole. If you do choose to send one, keep it simple I guess.

i emailed my interviewers to thank them because i honestly was thankful that they interviewed me. i also sent some pictures of one of my cats that we'd talked about.

if you want to thank them, do it! if not, dont 🙂 i don't think there's a protocol.
