Anyone else freaking out?? I am so excited that VMCAS is open. Figured I should start a thread for everyone applying to get some info and encouragement!

Would you mind posting your prereq info?? GPA's, GRE, experience etc. Just trying to get an idea!

I just took this from the successful applicants stats '21 and simplified it, so you can look through that thread and see the entirety of my post. I'd like to say that it doesn't do much good to compare yourself to everyone else. Throughout the application cycle, I stressed out constantly about my low GPA and I got 2 flat out rejection letters before getting my interview offers. Just put everything and anything on your application that will make you stand out, and be confident 🙂 You can always PM me if you need help with anything on your app. Also, keep in mind I was a KY resident, therefore I had less competition since I was only competing for a spot with other people from my state rather than an at large applicant. The interview also matters in terms of judging if you would be a good fit at the school. It all depends on what the admissions committee is looking for in terms of their class.

Overall GPA: 3.35
Science GPA: 3.07
Organic/Physics/Biochem GPA: ~3.7
Last 45 GPA: 3.43
GRE (Q/V/W): 149 (35%) / 152 (55%) / 4.5 (82%)
Veterinary Experience: SA vet assistant for a year; assistant at an animal research lab for about a year; shadowed an equine vet and emergency SA vet (same person); shadowed another vet at a SA clinic
Animal Experience: Dog bather at PetSmart; Volunteer at a Brazilian wildlife sanctuary; volunteer at a horse barn, humane society volunteer
Research Experience: Research assistant in the Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest studying endangered monkeys; research assistant with captive orangutans at the zoo; same laboratory job as stated above; research assistant at the same wildlife sanctuary
Non-Animal Volunteering: Camp counselor at a summer camp for Autistic children
LORs: Small Animal Vet, Pre-Vet advisor and lab animal vet, Genetics professor, Primatologist from Brazil

Hello all! I received an email yesterday from Auburn saying my app is in review, I'm very excited 🙂 Anyone else applying here too? Good luck everyone!

I received an email saying I am missing an animal nutrition course. I have one and when I emailed back they said it doesn't satisfy as it's just small animals. Is this a new requirement? They had no issues accepting this for me last year when I had an interview. Additionally, a friend of mine has not received an email and this is the same course she took.

Hello all, wanted to drop in and say good luck as you complete your applications and prepare for interviews! I'm a current OOS 2nd year, if you have any questions, feel free to ask in the thread or shoot me an inbox message.

So what is the interview process like at Auburn?

Were most of the questions personal or did they get into current issues in medicine/public health?
Mostly personal. They asked me about my experiences. A few situational. I used the interview section on here for auburn to prepare and it helped.

I agree with futurerescueDVM. When I went through, it was mostly personal questions about my application. I was interviewed by two people but I know some groups had 3 people interviewing them. After my interview, they gave a short tour. It was very relaxed. Auburn was my last interview out of 4 and I felt the most comfortable and at ease at this interview.

Anyone hear anything yet? Last year interviews went out Dec. 1st so I was hoping we'd hear soon!

I HOPE YOU HEAR ABOUT INTERVIEWS SOON, MANATEEEEEE!!!

(I promise I'm not intentionally stalking you on threads, they just pop up on the recents and I'm bored )
LMAO!! No worries makes me feel like I have my own cheer section this cycle

OOS interview, Spirit committee! Does anyone know if there are other things planned for the day besides the interview itself? I'm planning on flying out of AL the same day of the interview. Thanks!

I'm not sure if they actually have much planned but I saw on their website that they offer tours at 11am and 3pm on interview days so depending if you want to do that!

Last year they had a tour and someone came and talked about fin aid and loans. But it’s not an all day thing like other schools.

Are the different committees based on anything? or are you just randomly selected.

Probably so they can match you up for a fight to the death for 2022 seats

If that's the case then I've got this in the bag.. as soon as I get that interview email... hopefully.

They haven't sent them all out yet have they?

I'm OOS Nova!! Have you heard anything differences b/w all of the groups?
I have not heard about any differences. It could be based on states, based on region, based on our last name, or what track we want to follow. I am excited though! I do wish they had a dinner or mocktail mixer to meet the faculty and other students. I understand the challenges with juggling multiple days, but I would like to meet and mingle with the faculty to see if it is the best fit.

They do have students there to talk to and Tajuan is there as well (at least last year). And a few other faculty came in just to introduce themselves.

Hey everyone! Congrats on your interview invites and I hope y'all are excited to visit AUCVM! I am a first-year OOS student. If y'all have any questions on where to visit around campus, what life is like at Auburn, etc. feel free to ask!

Have they sent out all of their interview invites? Does anyone know?

Anyone from Mississippi or Alabama familiar with the drive from MSU to Auburn? I have an interview at Mississippi State on the 29th and Auburn on the 31st. I was considering driving between the two, apparently only a 4 hours drive, on the 30th to save money on flights but am not familiar with the area.

I have the opposite auburn the day before Mississippi I decided to drive

For those invited to interview, have you guys been given any info as to sending Fall 17 transcripts to them? Wanted to make sure I didn't miss that somewhere. I have an interview w/ Nova Committee Feb 1st!

I don't think it's based on last name. A friend of mine from the same undergrad school as me applied this year too and my last name is B and her's is S and were in the same comittee.

I'm OOS and haven't heard anything back from Auburn yet. Is anyone else in the same boat?
Im OOS and still have not heard anything back about an interview also. Should I email Tajuan or does anyone know what I should do?
