Auburn CVM Class of 2024 Hopefuls!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I interviewed with the spirit committee on Jan 30th. They emailed my OOS acceptance. I did not receive a call (5pm east coast time).

Does anyone remember the statistics? How many people applied OOS/ how many people were interviewed OOS?

Does anyone know what they’re gonna do about housing?? Everywhere only has move in dates of Aug 12th! Which is the first day of classes

You may want to call the individual rentals. The Aug 12 date is probably for the undergraduate school since that is when they typically move in. You also want to make sure the rental have full year leases. Some of the rentals only cater toward undergraduate school and make you move at end school year.

OOS acceptance!!!! Received the call yesterday in the afternoon, around 2 pm EST. I interviewed exactly two weeks ago!

I have an interview in March as an IS. We were told to just arrive ~30 minutes before our interview. Does this mean there are no events, discussions, or interactions with veterinary students on interview day? We just show up, interview, and leave?

The only events are a financial aid and a tour, both are optional.

that’s extremely disappointing
I personally got a lot of interaction with current students, if that’s what you’re disappointed about. The tour groups were small so there’s a lot of opportunity to ask questions. I spoke with about 5 students after the tour for a long time. I also had time during my interview to ask questions. I got all of my questions answered, everyone is super friendly and welcoming.

Did anyone OOS get rejected after interviews?? Thanks in advance

Anyone have an average ballpark or guess of how many got pulled off the waitlist in previous years? Or even how many they waitlist total?
Also received an acceptance at Ohio, but wondering if its worth holding out for Auburn until the April 15th deadline:xf:

Does any one have recommendations for housing? I was thinking trailers would be good for us. Any recommendations for trailer parks? What are lot rates like? I'm coming down the beginning of March from Kentucky for an interview.

Same here. I would like to hear some thoughts from current students on living situations and I'd love to know what there is to do in the area.

I’m in an apartment, but I know several people who live in Ridgewood and Stonegate. There are A LOT of options lol

Have any IS interviewees heard anything from auburn? We’re approaching a week away so I feel like we should have had some correspondence by now...

Also for those looking at housing options, this is what my mentor (aUcvm grad 2017) sent me a few days ago when we were talking about it:

“And yes I agree you should start looking now! We lived in Arrowhead Park— a little further away but not really that far since it’s away from traffic. Most lot rents are in the $200-ish range and vary on what they cover.
Ones I think would be good:

Arrowhead Park- big lots, more privacy and room to park, primarily grad students/vet/pharmacy or grown folks, very few rentals mostly owned for at least 4 years at a time, private individual owns (Tom Cordi) and he is who you call for concerns not a park manager

Gentilly or Ridgewood- huge parks across the street from each other and literally one light down from LA hospital, downside is more undergrads and little parking/lots of street parking- one has a pool though- I think Ridgewood

Conway Acres- just down from Gentilly and clean but again little parking and undergrads moving in and out a lot more.

I would strongly advise AGAINST:
Avalon
Orchard Way
Barron’s Park
College Mobile Home Park

Stonegate?? Not a favorite of mine but maybe ok??
Sandollar maybe ok??”

I haven’t looked super deep into anything, but she said their lot rental was about $200 a month!

Figured I might as well join since I've stalked this forum for quite a while now and have an interview in a little over a week. It needs to be kept in mind that a lot of the trailer parks here do not rent out their trailers; rather, you have to own them and cannot do a rent to own deal with the current owner. I personally live at The Fairways at Auburn and so do quite a few of the students. It's approximately 7 minutes to the veterinary school, rather off to itself, and is more of a family based area rather than college students. I've never had to make a noise complaint here, and all of my neighbors are relatively friendly. They do have a one pet limit, but I'll be honest in saying that most of us have more than that. I personally have a dog, cat, snake, and some fish.

For those interested in housing, I have a good friend going to Auburn for graduate school in animal science and is looking for one more roommate in a 4 bedroom, 4 bath apartment near campus! I told her I would post this on SDN because her and her roommates are grad school age and aren’t looking to live with undergrads. If you’re interested, send me a message and I’ll get you in touch with her!

Last cycle, applicants heard a few days after interviews so let's hope this applies to us as well. My interview is Friday :dead:!

I asked Tajuan at my interview yesterday, he said the head of admissions left town yesterday to return this upcoming Tuesday. Plan is to have everybody contacted on Tuesday the 10th, but if he drags his feet when he gets back, it'll be Friday at the latest.

Has anyone attended the financial aid session? Is it worth attending? I would have to wait an hour after my interview and tour so I'm wondering if it will be worth it. Also, how long have interviews been lasting?

the financial aid talk went over how the loans work, the max amount you can take out, and scholarships. if you don’t know much about that, i would attend. interviews last 30 minutes

Did anyone get asked a lot about specifics in their application during their interview?

I was really impressed with the way the interviews are structured! I think they are really thorough in assessing your whole applicatoon and especially extracurricular, at least for me. Then they asked a lot about my career ambitions too. Very nice people and definitely enjoyed my interview!

Hi, guys. I had my interview yesterday. Overall, it was a very friendly interview. They just wanted to get to know me. Also - I think the financial aid session was a great eye opener and the tour was awesome! I recommend seeing everything if you can. I'm not sure if there are more interview days, but thought I'd throw this out there for y'all!

Also, did I hear that they were thinking about Lenovo tablets for the Class of 2024 during the financial aid seminar?

I second @Lavaniel question. Does anyone have clarification on the specific type of computer we're supposed to have to buy? I know it's nearly $2,000 which is expensive for a computer. I really like my computer now but if its a necessity I would like to do some research on it.

Ours is the Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga. You buy them through the IT department.

Does anyone have any info for the financial aid session? I was unable to do that when I went and I don’t know if they’ll have another session for open house

How do you like those? Do you feel they are able to handle graphical requirements. I was looking forward to a surface Pro as I thought that was standard.

So I’m an OOS that got accepted, super excited, but I have no idea how to go about finding a roommate. Specifically one that’s also in the vet program. Is there a thread for such a thing or do I just leave this here and hope for a response?

I would think that a Facebook page will pop up soon if it hasn’t already. IS will find out this week sooo maybe then?

I have a love hate relationship with it lol. The IT department for help and the warranty is great. The tablets work really good most of the time, sometimes the suck lol. Being honest

Has anyone else heard/confirmed that we might hear back tomorrow?
