Does anyone know how long schools keep GRE scores and transcripts?

I'm starting to worry that I sent my scores too early. I took the GRE in April, and sent my scores then. Do you guys think that's ok, or do you think I'll have to resend them?

I would think April would be fine but I would email the schools you're applying to just to be safe. I took the test last summer and Iowa kept my scores so I was hoping the other schools I sent it to might but no such luck. That's another $75 right there.

I know it's too early to be freaking out about not being accepted this year, but anyway... Does anyone know if UF Vet accepts transfer students?

I took the GRE in January and never thought to consider that...

Are you referring to getting into a different school and then transferring after year one?? It depends on your reasoning and if there is a spot in that year's class (i.e. someone is held back or drops out). Someone had to leave our class already for medical reasons. 🙁
Transferring isn't very easy from what I hear.

When entering GRE scores on VMCAS do we enter what is on our most recent score report? (I entered mine back in June or July but now the percentiles have changed)

When I applied I thought you had to enter all your scores. Maybe with the new GRE (since you get to pick which score you send) just put the score of the one you're sending??

I noticed that too. My percentiles on the paper report were higher then the scores online this summer. I put the ones from online because I figured those were the reports the school was getting and I did not want it to be contradictory. I wonder why the percentiles changed? Maybe because more people have taken the new test 😕

I'm still waiting for my ELOR's to be submitted. 🙁 all of them. Maybe if I resend the reminder email now, they'll have them done within a week? ... 🙄 come on letter writers. its crunch time

Same. Of course, I still need to actually meet with one of them...

Oh, good question. I don't even remember which percentiles I put on VMCAS...

Glad to hear it! Always a good thing when the fog lifts. 🙂

I've been working on my personal statement, and looking at my old one from last year as well. There's some parts from it that I really like and think should be mentioned in my one for this year. Would it be looked down upon if I recycle some sentences from my last PS? I just really like the way I worded some things, and even though I am rewriting the whole thing, there are a good 3-4 sentences that I feel like are worth putting back in.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I doubt they will go through your old PS and read it, and then compare it to this one. They have way too many applicants to go through.
Either way, using a few SENTENCES is not a problem at all. Some people use the same statement, so you'll be fine using the few sentences.

Did anyone find the gre code for University of Tennessee on the gre website? Or did they have to call ETS?

I had to call ETS, which by the way, was a pain in the butt. trying to speak to a human instead of a machine made me so angry! then the machine kept saying the code was for some international university! finally I spoke to an actual person who had a hard time finding it! after 30 min on the phone my scores were sent to the right place.. I hope you have better luck than I did!

Staring at the "submit" button....ready to hit it...

I think I'm gonna seriously vomit.

So I contacted the places I sent my scores, and they do have them. So as far back as April is ok, apparently!

Thanks everyone! I did it...now to play the wait game.

I don't post much (mainly because I'm gun shy about revealing much over the net); however, I'm very grateful for the information I've received by reading/searching here and for the assistance I've had from those I've messaged.

I literally sobbed as I hit the submit button. I cannot even begin to describe the process just for me to get to this point. It's been many, many years. Even if I'm not accepted, just to get to this point means a ton to me. I wish you all the best.

I just submitted my supplemental for Oklahoma and Iowa and I'm sending off my supplemental for Kansas tomorrow. I'm waiting a bit to submit my VMCAS app because my last LOR writer hasn't finished yet. I'm starting to get a bit worried because by this time last year everything was totally done and submitted.

Aw I love Danes too! Currently have 2 of them 😀

Exciting!

I submitted my Iowa and Colorado Supplementals yesterday just waiting on the ones that open in October now! 🙂

I am still working on the essays for Mizzou... and my PS... there just isnt enough time in the day to get everything done, especially now that school has started !!!!

 Ya I will definitely always try to have them, They are my parents technically so I will be dogless whenever I move out but will get one as soon as I can! Biggest babies ever! 🙄

I'm working on Mizzou, too. It seems like these supplemental essays are never ending. BLEH

Congrats on submitting! Wishing you the best as well 😀

On another note, I'm trying to stay positive while playing the waiting game...but I can't help but think negative thoughts. I'm automatically steering toward "I am probably going to get rejected"....but I've always been a pessimistic person. Think positive. Think positive.

Lol! I'm the crazy dane lady too. I've been in dane rescue for 10 years, owned & fostered many and currently owned by 2 danes. Love my danes!

To those of you who submitted stuff, CONGRATS!

Keep it up guys! You're almost there! You can do it!!! 😀

Sigh. I'm hoping to submit this weekend.

Abs you can do it! If you need some motivation, I'd be totally willing to come over and crack a whip over your head...just saying...😉

Congrats to those that have submitted stuff!! :woot: I was the last minute submitter last year (for various reasons) but don't worry if you are still not submitted at the end of September/beginning of October I had no issues with submitting right at the deadline.

You and me both. I wanted to turn them in on the 19th. Now I am thinking the 26th.

Yeah, I haven't even submitted yet and I'm planning how I'll need to improve my application for next cycle...

I haven't submitted yet since I have 2 LORs I'm waiting on, but I'm pretty much ready to go other than that. You know, so now I'm waiting so I can wait. 🙄🙄🙄

I don't think it's a horrible thing to not think too positively... if you are more pessimistic about your chances and don't get in, well, at least you didn't get your hopes up, and if you do get in you're shocked and happy. Pleasantly surprised is really not a strong enough term for it haha.

And you really should always aim to improve your application through the cycle - if you don't get in you will have wasted a lot of months and wouldn't have much to show for it, which is never good.

I don't know, maybe my modus operandi is just more pessimistic than most, but I think that's a good way to go about, personally. worked for me!

Wow, you guys are on top of your stuff!!! I have all my supps done except my IS. go figure. Illinois: I don't want to write about a vet's role in the food chain. I want to do wildlife. Blahhhhh. I wonder if my parents will murder me if I don't apply to Illinois. I'm hoping to submit VMCAS by next weekend. Still waiting on all three of my ELOR's though. :boom:

^ haha I'm working on that essay right now, too. And I also want to go into wildlife. LOL. It's kind of interesting researching about it though. But I've really put this essay off for like 4 months now.....I really need to start typing something.

I feel the exact same way about being pessimistic about outcomes though. I guess its like...expect the worst but hope for the best kind of thing?

Honestly... Whatever keeps you sane throughout the process, do it. Us current students are all about to get serious payback listening to everyone stress out like we did in previous years
We're here for you though. Letting my stress out to people who understood saved me so I am more than happy to listen 😀

I can give some insight on this. I THINK most schools do not compare applications from previous years, but I do know that Auburn just adds to your file when you reapply. I was told to change my personal statement to include new experiences from the past year. I was also told that Cornell will typically not look at a past year's application unless they have a question about the current application (or if you are reusing eLORs). I did reuse about two sentences from last year's personal statement so far, but I decided to completely rewrite mine because I have changed my prospective on things.

When I did my file review with Kansas, I got the impression that they completely throw out your file. I'm not sure if they actually do or not, but i'm 98% sure they don't look at it to compare. When I talked to Dr. Foreman at Illinois, he said they don't review past applications. But then he also said he likes to see people improve with new applications. Not exactly sure what that means... 🙄 if they don't reopen past apps, how would they know if you've improved??? Oh well.

I'm reusing a couple phrases from my last PS. Basically things I can't say otherwise: Personal obstacles I've overcome, ideas that have motivated me through such obstacles, etc. I have, though, completely changed the theme and opening experience. Which is expected since I now know about 5000 times more about veterinary medicine than I did last cycle. Sometimes I'm shocked at how bad my last app was.

I noticed that too. My percentiles on the paper report were higher then the scores online this summer. I put the ones from online because I figured those were the reports the school was getting and I did not want it to be contradictory. I wonder why the percentiles changed? Maybe because more people have taken the new test 😕

I decided to do the same thing too and enter what I sent the schools, bummed my percentiles went down though 🙁

If I have a record of how many dentals and cephalic blood draws I've done and how many surgeries I've observed/assisted on is that something that I should put in the description on VMCAS? Or just leave out the numbers?

Hi, everyone! I am s first-time applicant and I was wondering how to send out the transcript request forms. I printed out the transcript request form from AAVMC. Should I fill them out and hand them in to my school right now? Thanks a lot!

I haven't looked at that request form. But generally you should just be able to contact your school(s) and either ask them to send you a whole bunch of transcripts which you can then send out to your schools, or give them the addresses of the schools you're applying to and they can send them directly. Either way I'd get this done like, today. Especially if your school is slow at getting things done.

I second this. 👍 plus, stuff gets lost in the mail aka the school forgets to send it off, among other issues.

I have a question for anyone who has taken a Correspondence Education class through Oklahoma State. I will be signing up for two classes in October or November so I need to enter the classes on VMCAS as ones I'm planning to take. What do I list the term as since the class is a year-long. I asked both VMCAS and the people at the Correspondence Education department and no one seems to know what to put. Also for the 'term type' I put 'unit'. Does that seem right? Thanks so much for all your help!
