Has anyone received their financial aid package yet? I know they said they would try to get it back to us within a month but I was just curious if anyone's came a bit sooner than that. Thanks 🙂

I actually reached out to them bc financial aid is a big factor in whether I could've gone to Cornell. They didn't have the package completed yet but the director of financial aid was kind enough to give me an idea of what I could expect based on my submitted materials (spoiler alert: not enough to make Cornell a feasible option for me haha)

They said that packages would be released on March 15th if they are still on schedule!

Feel free to direct message me questions! I’m in class of 2024 and have gone through the curriculum during covid. It’s hard to keep track on a forum so I may miss questions people have.

Do waitlist people get financial aid information? Or only if we get pulled off in April?
When I watched the financial aid presentation video I believe they said that waitlisted students won’t be given an offer unless they are accepted- but that if waitlisted students don’t submit the financial aid on time with the accepted students, they may not be able to get an offer in time before making a decision about accepting their seat off the waitlist since you only have like 48 hours to decide. so i’m guessing if you submitted your financial aid documents before february 15, they should be able to make you a financial aid offer within the 48 hours you have to accept your seat

it makes me so sad to say this, but i am unfortunately declining my OOS spot at cornell. I was maybe hoping something miraculous would happen with my financial aid package today, but my offer was not significant. Good luck to everyone on the OOS waitlist!

I might be in the same boat 🙁 a bit unsure because Cornell is my dream school, but the financial aid isn't what I was hoping for

Cornell has been my dream for so many years. But I think what we need to remember is that vet school isn't the destination on our journey, its simply a stepping stone on the path of becoming a vet. I had to change my perspective and realize that even though it felt like I had been working towards getting into vet school for most of my life, the true goal is graduating vet school and starting a career. Choosing to go to a different school, and saving money in the process, 99% of the time will not make or break your career. Remember, YOU are the person who succeeded and got to this point in your veterinary journey, and YOU are going to be the one to make the most of the next 4 years, not the people at Cornell or any other school for that matter. ❤️

I already emailed the financial aid office about this, but in case anyone here knows...is the college scholarship on our award letter annual (for all four years) or only for the 2021-2022 academic year?

Its only for 2021-2022. However, they did say in the financial aid presentation that you are likely to receive that scholarship amount (or slightly more) in subsequent years

Did you receive an email notification of the financial aid package? I submitted my FAFSA and STDRT before Feb. 15 but made a silly mistake in other areas and ended up having to supplement some info a week ago. I haven't received any financial package today and wonder when I'll hear from them...

Yeah I got an email saying my financial aid package was ready about 2 hours ago. The letter was available to view on my financial aid tracking page

Is anyone else's fin aid offer extremely underwhelming?
I'm still waiting for my financial package from Cornell. So far I've only received full financial package from one school, and since my undergrad was not done in the U.S., I really don't know what to expect in the packages. I've heard directly from several schools on recruitment scholarships, so are there other things to expect in the financial packages other than loans?

I did receive an email notification. You may be able to call them and ask if it was the essay portion that was a bit late.

I haven't been able to bring myself to officially do it yet, but I am also declining my seat. Had been holding out for this financial aid info but am in the same boat as many of you are. I'm sure my future self will be thanking me for going with a cheaper school!! (5 yr DVM/MPH at CSU w in-state tuition for the last 4; 5 years there is cheaper than 4 at Cornell)

Omg im an absolute idiot. I couldn't get onto my college board account , it won't let me make a new one because it says I have one but then when I try to recover password it says I dont have one. So after so many failed attempts I gave up and forgot about it. Now I realized this essay and the college board was all necessary aside from fafsa !!what an idiot. Ugh I hope that I am still eligible if I finish it off now. Damn .

You're fine! Figure out the password and submit it, you'll just hear a bit later. I made a stupid mistake and selected "loans only" (I was like, what the f*** is gift aid? My family isn't giving me any gift money). They emailed me a week earlier and asked, you sure you don't want to be considered for scholarships? And that's when I submitted my essay😆

I'm from China and did my undergrad in HK with full scholarship. The financial aspect of US schools is just overwhelming!!

Do any of you know how many OOS seats are offered out of the total class?

LOL

Ahh yes. The school system here is messed up and expensive !! But good for veterinary medicine since animals are treated pretty well here ( for the most part in comparison to other countries i mean .. it could be better for sure lol)

Just declined my OOS seat after receiving an underwhelmed financial package. Hope someone from the waitlist get that call soon!

For those of you posting that you are declining seats due to underwhelming FA, are you referring to low scholarship offers? Everywhere else I've been accepted hasn't sent FA info yet so I don't have anything to compare with

Yes, I was referring to the scholarship amount. It was not high to start with, and really doesn't make a ripple in the high OOS tuition. I have only received financial package from one other school and waiting on a couple others. The one I had offered an non-negligible need-based aid from the college in addition to the recruitment scholarship I was informed of earlier.

I am also declining my seat and going to my instate school. The scholarship was extremely underwhelming and I’m prioritizing my future financials. Good luck waitlisters!

Makes sense, my in state is tufts and their in state tuition is more than most schools out of state unfortunately 😑

Has anyone on the waitlist received a call yet? Or are they waiting till it gets closer to April 15th to start calling?

Late to the financial aid talk but it was underwhelming for me but being from a state with no IS option Ill take whatever I can get :/

Those who put down a deposit, what payment methods do they take?

How long did it take for people's deposit to go through? I paid mine yesterday and it hasn't been verified on the page yet.. hopefully just nervous for no reason

Mine took about two days to go through because I paid with a credit card...I think they just need to verify that the payment went through
