My Application has been put on hold... Bummed because DMU was my top choice!

I got the same thing! I have no idea what it means other than we have to wait even longer to find out anything. I hate this process....

I don't have any inside info, but the same thing happened to me last year: Complete in October, then got a letter in November saying my app was on hold. I didn't hear anything else from them until April/May when they sent me a letter saying the class was full.

If DMU is your top choice, I'd call the admissions office to tell them that, say you're disappointed your app is on hold, and ask if there's anything that might make them look at you again. Because from my experience, I'd say if they put you on hold and you don't get in touch with them, they'll just leave you on the bottom of the pile.

I took your advice and called admissions. I was told that I could submit a letter of interest via email to help my chances when they re-review my file in the upcoming months (even though the email they sent me saying that I was on hold stated: "There is no need to submit additional documents."). I will be sending a letter of interest asap...it couldn't hurt.

Got the email yesterday.....alternate list....bummer. 🙁 This was my top school. Apparently going above and beyond for this school and showing an intense desire to go here doesn't overcome some weaknesses in the app! Oh well....so much for going to school closer to my family again....haha Good luck to everyone else interviewing, you will love this school! 🙂

My interview is Friday. I've been checking weather.com a lot and it said the snow should finish up on Wednesday, so I think I'll be fine to fly out on Thurs 🙂 as long as the weathermen are actually right lol (and if they are, it looks like you guys are getting slammed with snow today!). I can't wait- I'm really looking forward to seeing DMU!

Just to give you idea of where people are in the admissions process, I was accepted in mid-November and just received a merit scholarship yesterday through email. However, I withdrew due to a better offer from another university so good luck to everyone here. DMU is a great school.

Thanks, I got there no problem! And I absolutely LOVED DMU!!! The facilities were great and everyone I talked to was extremely friendly. I was stuck waiting for a cab to the airport for over an hour and a first year guy wanted to give me a ride to the airport but he had an exam and couldn't, and two other students ended up driving me and a few others to the airport. I was very impressed by the quality of the students at DMU! Not to mention the sim lab and the global health dept!

DMU is a great school. 👍 Students were happy to be there and the faculty/administrative people seem really nice and care for your well being. I was really impressed with the anatomy lab there. Interview was very conversational and laid back. I also interviewed on the same day as elftown and docdeojos. I think i know who you guys are 🙂 (i was the person who saw and touched snow for the very first time 😉) Good luck to everyone!

I got a wait list today as well...I have already been accepted at OSU-COM, but we will see how this goes.

My letter went to my spam folder, even though I've received every other email from them. Also, I learned while searching for it that gmail has both a junk folder and a spam folder, so make sure you look in both if you have the same system.

If you haven't received it, email them. Another clue may be if you get an "accepted students newsletter" but haven't heard that you're accepted. That's what tipped me off. 😉

Haha, that would be a nice tip off, but it does kind of take the thunder out of getting that acceptance email.

I just checked my spam today and saw that a pre-interview rejection had been waiting there since 12/16. It doesn't hurt so much since I already have 5 interviews lined up. But anyway, I won't b stalking this thread as much anymore. Good luck everyone!

Oddly enough, something similar happened to me. I called yesterday to see about sending them my semester grades and today I got an interview invite! I'm super pumped!

Withdrawing from my acceptance here....it was a hard choice! I loved DMU, its facilities, simulation labs, faculty, & students. I was accepted to a MD school where I'll get more public health opportunities and I'll probably go to my IS MD school if accepted. My decision was definitely not influenced by whether I wanted to be a MD or DO. In fact, 2 attendings who interview and select residents for Emergency Medicine & Anesthesia told me recently that they could care less whether their applicants were MDs or DOs. In any case, I highly recommend DMU, my loss I guess. 🙂

I'm sorry to hear that. When I scheduled yesterday there was one Thursday (Feb. 4th) that I scheduled for and all the other days were booked until a Friday late in February. Congrats on your interview invite and keep your head up. I'm certain the class isn't filled just yet!

Thanks!!! Actually I have an interview at my top DO choice next wk. If it all goes well I may not even have to attend the DMU interview (although I really do like this school)Anyway, I really hope u have a successful application cycle!! 🙂

KCUMB, KCOM & NSU... still waiting to hear back frm a couple of schools! KCUMB is my first choice...Hoping to get in there so that I can save some $$$ on travel by cancelling other interviews 🙂 I would have done the same thing had DMU been my first interview site, considering that I like it as much as KCUMB! btw ru interviewing @ any of these schools?Which one is ur top choice?

If you think you like DMU as much as KCUMB, I highly recommend you go to that interview even if you get accepted to KCUMB.. I know it's more money you have to spend for travel expenses and your interview is late in the game, but I really think DMU is worth the interview.

Thank u for the encouraging words! 🙂 I do want to give it a try! I m busting my back woking on a full time job right now to save up. I will also try calling the office to see if they have an earlier date available! Who knows KCUMB might end up not liking me... then I will be all DMU's!!!lol (unless my state schools show me some luv)

Is it hard to get a studio or one bedroom apartment at 3000 Grand? Do the available spots fill up pretty quickly? Any advice on when I should make a trip down to Des Moines to check out the studio/1 bedroom and put down a deposit? Thanks in advance!
