It might not be appropriate to post my question here, but I hope to get some advice or opinions from both successful applicants and those who are awaiting replies from other schools.
My question is simple: Do research experience in public health topics and research publication add much value to applicants' profiles?
I used to think that it will be very difficult for an international student to get a scholarship or research/teaching assistantship (or whatever) to study MPH, and hence I must achieve something to impress and convince the admission committee. I then planned to do research and publish a paper in an international journal (I know it's gonna be hard). But looking at your stats, I felt that international/ volunteer experience, GRE, GPA seems more important (my GPA is merely equivalent to 3.2/4) ....
Should I change my strategy then? Do schools offering MPH prefer someone with strong research background or with 10-month volunteer in Nepal or Indonesia? Are people with research background recommended to take MSc programme instead of MPH?
Btw, congratulation to those who have heard good news from schools. Wish that in 2 or 3 years I will be like one of you ...
