I'm having problems ranking the following programs relative to one another:

Lankenau
Pennsylvania Hospital
Drexel
Temple
Albert Einstein

I'm interested in fellowship, most likely cards.. considering pulm and GI too, I love working with my hands.

I liked most of the programs above but would appreciate any feedback from those more intimate with any of them. I loved Temple but am not too psyched about the guest float that you have to do while on electives. If any residents could comment on that- that would be excellent!

Thanks for your help and opinions!

Since you didn't specify if you wanted to stay for fellowship at the same institution where you did your residency, I will assume you do.

Albert Einstein takes a lot of their own. I know the other inner city Philly programs like to swap around, like Drexel takes Temple residents for fellowship, and then Jefferson takes Penn residents, etc.

Penn Hospital is a very good program. It is small with only 8 residents per class, but it's affiliated with UPenn. That certainly helps. The fellowship placement list was hard to interpret because the sample size (small resident class) was too small. Don't know much about Lakenau.

If you don't mind North Philly, go with Albert Einstein for fellowship. Very strong academic program with outstanding teaching. Penn Hospital would be next. Drexel and Temple are okay. Then Lakenau.

completely agree with souljah...Temple is probably the best program you have on this list if you are looking to be competitive for GI or cards. As such my ranking would be Temple>Drexel>Penn>Lankenau=Albert Einstein
