Sheldon has 60 fewer apps on his phone than Patricia.Patricia has 5× as many apps as Sheldon.If their total number of apps were divided evenly among three friends,
how many apps would each friend receive?

A) 12
B) 15
C) 30
D) 20
E) 10

Answer: C

Let S = Sheldon and P = Patricia
S = P – 60
P = 5S

Substitute:
S = 5S – 60
–4S = –60 → S = 15
P = 75

Total apps = 15 + 75 = 90
90 ÷ 3 = 30
