I will be a freshman starting in the spring semester of 2015. I want to major in Biochemistry. I was just wondering if anyone who has been accepted or declined, could shine some light on some of the things that the U, likes from its applicants and some of the things they really look down on. I just want to know what they like EC wise.

I am also worried my current volunteer position at the hospital (controlling the door at the family birth center) I love it but feel it would be looked down upon because even though my position is very important, all I do is sit at a desk all day, making sure people who aren't meant to have access, don't. I have spoken to the manager of the family birth center about the opportunities that I will have to shadow a doctor. I like the volunteering job I do as I feel that I am really appreciated for it, but I don't want it to be thought of as like the "easy" option...

I also was wondering if they would accept my job as part of my experience, I am a Direct Support Professional at a non-profit organization, that helps provide assisted living and rehabilitation services for people with developmental disabilities. I am a Residential DSP and I help my clients with their daily needs (meds, grooming, eating, transportation, money management and cleaning etc). I am currently taking a CNA course as I will get a $2 pay rise and the opportunity to then work or volunteer as a CNA in either a hospital or nursing home. I currently work a 60hrs of the span of Fri-Mon, while doing my CNA course and volunteering. So back to my question, will this count as experience? And if so is it worth putting on my application/resume?

How many hours shadowing, volunteering, research, and work experience should I do each? How much does the University of Arizona like you to do?

What other extra curricular activities do they like you to do?

If anyone has any more advice for me or think I have missed important aspects to consider when applying then that would be great the hear! Thanks for your time guys!
