Current Army HPSP recipient and M3 at allopathic school, leaning towards internal medicine right now. Based on the available match data, the Army internal medicine residency program never seems to fill with applicants and a newsletter from last year mentioned that IM, FM, psych, and pathology have the lowest number/proportion of applicants.
Do you think with a 203 on step 1, I have a shot at internal med? Could a solid step 2 score redeem my application? (mean step 1/step 2 scores below).
2018: 88% of positions filled
step 1 - mean of 228, range of 194-259
step 2 - mean of 237, range of 210-269
2017: 78% of positions filled
step 1 - mean of 232, range of 197-271
step 2 - 248 (218-271)
2016: 79% of positions filled
step 1 - mean of 234, low score of 194 (Range not provided)
step 2 - 245, low score of 209 (Range not provided)
2015: 63% of positions filled
2014: 66% of positions filled
Thanks in advance!
