Question for everyone that’s already interviewed—were you really there until 5:30 like the itinerary says or is there a chance of getting out early? I’m meeting a friend in NY afterwards and so I’m just trying to ballpark when it’ll actually end

The interview day does run that late. But my dad and I were gone by 1pm because we were driving back to Denver. You stay as late as your interview and whatever student events are being held.

I received the email asking to fill out a survey for my interview, but I haven't received an itinerary. Is it possible to share it or should i reach out to them to make sure everything is ok?

Wait are interviews back in person this cycle?

I’m so sorry false alarm everybody!! I posted this on mobile during a busy travel day and thought I was in the Edinburgh thread 🤦‍♀️

I have not yet received anything about date/time for Illinois other than the survey confirming the interview

Question: if I already accepted a spot at my IS school should I email Illinois to let them know/ask to be taken off the interview schedule or would that look unprofessional since the RSVP deadline already passed?

I emailed them today withdrawing my scheduled interview. I wouldn’t say it’s unprofessional, if anything it is professional to give them notice.

If you’ve already accepted a spot at your IS school, emailing them and taking yourself off the interview schedule is totally fine!! If there’s no chance you’re going to be going to the school, don’t waste your *own* time with interviewing 🙂 they absolutely know and understand that people will receive acceptances between when they sent out interview invites and interview day and will not find it odd for people to cancel. If there’s an interview waitlist, they’ll pull someone from that and give them your interview slot. Congrats on getting accepted into your IS!!!!!

Does anyone know how long the informational sessions are? The interview time that I received starts half an hour after the info session that works best for my schedule, so I don't know if I can attend that session or if I have to choose a different one.

I believe they're about an hour

Is there any chance you are able to share the style and length of the interview? Behavioral, traditional, etc.
Thanks!
I'm not entirely sure what I'm allowed to share or not. I also don't know the difference between behavioral and traditional interviews. It was very quick. But I don't know if I can share anything else.

I sent my transcript in the beginning of this month, and Illinois didn’t give me a confirmation that they received it. I emailed them though yesterday, and they responded today confirming that they have my transcript, so if you’re concerned about whether they received yours, I would email them!
They usually don't. I just emailed 2 weeks after and they let me know they got it.

You cannot share questions asked iirc

Good luck over the next two days, everyone! Just remember that UofI interviews are quick (mine was only ~10 minutes back in the day!), so don't worry too much if you finish early. We can't break from the scripts, so don't panic if we aren't having a 'conversation' with you and just move on to the next question when it seems like you're done. Be thorough, give examples when indicated, and be yourself 🙂

Yeah, mine was only about 10 minutes as well and other people took closer to 30 minutes so it def varies and a short interview isn’t necessarily bad

Mine was 35 minutes cause I'm a horribly social talker 🤣

Does anyone know if we should dress up for the informational session or if we even have to keep our cameras on?

Good luck everyone!

It's been a few years so I don't entirely remember, but I want to say my camera was off during this

If your power doesn’t come back on, definitely call or email them. They’re very understanding and may be able to reschedule you to either the second day of interviews or a different day entirely
Thank you! I'm just packing a bag and driving to my parents.

Good luck today and tomorrow y'all!! I'm really hoping their questions aren't too crazy, I'm running on 5 hours of sleep and a coffee 🥲

They were so nice!!!!!! I was done in 15 minutes. I did not prepare much at all but felt fine about it.

edit: I asked about when they'd release decisions and my interviewers weren't sure! they said maybe around march 1st
my interviewers were also very kind!

I would say about half of the people had their cameras on and half had cameras off! They didn’t ask us to turn them on at the first session. Most people with cameras on were dressed up, but some were more casual.

I’m gonna be in scrubs if we have to have cameras on because I am leaving work for like 2 hours to attend the zoom session today. So my camera will be off LOL! Im glad to hear everyone is doing so well!!! Mine is tomorrow evening so I still have some time to worry 💀

I really liked my interview 🙂 mine lasted about 20 minutes including the intro and my questions at the end

I just found out I got accepted to my in-state school, so I declined my interview. I know it's super last minute, but I hope there's a possibility of them giving an interview to someone else if there was an interview waitlist.
congrats!
