Permanent Resident
(All first attempt)
Step 1: 222
Step 2 CK: 240
Step 2 CS: Pass
ECFMG Certified

4 months USCE
4 U.S. LORS; 1 IM; 2 GI; 1 FM

YOG: 2018
Programs applied to: 206
I applied 5 days late because 2 of my LORs were still being processed by ECFMG and my seniors told me its better to send in a complete application rather than add LORs later. Will the delay hurt me?

Any feedback on my chances is appreciated
Don't think it matters much. Good luck

Hi anxiety filled non US IMG here.
Need Visa
Step 1 225
Step 2 CK 242
Step 2 CS pass
Step 3 231
All first attempt.
YOG 2015 (been working in clinical setting since graduation, no gap)
USCE 6 months (2 months observership though not sure if they count). 4 US LORs. Applied to 109 (only the ones match my credentials) IM Programs.
Received 1 acknowledgement from Iowa Program. Apart from that, nothing. Congrats to those who have invites already!

Everyone who has received interviews, congratulations! It would be really helpful if you could name the programs you received them from (like someone above mentioned, it would help us have an idea as to what to expect). Simply stating that it's so and so state just adds a lot of anxiety and unnecessary speculation for the rest of us. Just putting it out there

Alabama
Arizona
Arkansas
California
Colorado
Connecticut
Florida
Georgia
Hawaii
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Kansas
Kentucky
Louisiana
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts
Michigan
Minnesota
Missouri
Nebraska
Nevada:
New Hampshire:
New Jersey:
New Mexico:
New York:
North Carolina:
North Dakota
Ohio
Oklahoma
Oregon
Pennsylvania
Rhode Island
South Carolina
South Dakota
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
Vermont
Virginia
West Virginia
Washington
Washington DC
Wisconsin

Those who are okay with posting the program's name, would appreciate it if you could go ahead and list it under the appropriate state so its easier to see.

There is already a forum for this. And apparently people are filling out a google spreadsheet with all the programs and date of invitation. It's a bit more organized and has more information that could be helpful to all:

Official 2018-2019 IM Residency Application Spreadsheet

USCE 6 months, all post graduation in academic hospitals ... I sent 4 letters to most programs, unless otherwise specified, 1 is from a PD and one from IM assistant professor, the other two are not from faculty
I applied veeeery broadly (272 programs)
So far 1 acknowledgement and a future interest email from Jacobi.
Trying to keep calm for now...
Good luck to everybody! ☺️

Hi everyone

good luck to those applying.

i don't know if anyone applying this year or if previous years can stalking this thread can answer...but what are the chances of a FMG who did not pass step 1 on first try?

I mean generally the chances of matching as an FMG with a board failure are quite bad. At baseline PDs screen against IMGs/FMGs, and a board exam failure is a massive red flag, especially for Step 1 where 95% of test takers pass on the first try. It's gonna be an uphill battle for sure.

Which one is better? Passing CK first time with 220 or failing and then passing with 250.

I feel people are misinformed. A lot tend to think scenario 2 is better “better to fail then just pass with lower score”

People forget that 1 failure automatically will filter you out of a ton of programs. Whereas passing all first time can be redeemed with other steps, LoRs and USCE. What do you guys think?

100% agree. I’m a chief at a program right now and I’ve been helping the PD select some of the applicants and I can tell you that a Step failure just destroys the application.

A step failure will haunt you for residency match and fellowship match because it tells the PD that this person may potentially fail the boards in the future.

Good Evening all,
I may have peeped into forum and ran away many times, just waiting to reply to someone for some post related to may be rejection or IV or Ak.
Fool me i know , but i think most of us are anxious despote we tell each other , its too early .
So i found this link , video ...and i want to share it , as its very funny and made me laugh .
Do guys think i shall share?

Here is link anyone want to laugh its on youtube , i am just sharing link . ( This only for fun not to hurt anyone religious or race or any feelings )
And if anything is inappropriate feel free to delete it .

Step 1 240
Step 2 252, CS 1st attempt
Step 3 233
Yog 2009
ACGMEi residency training in Qatar
2 publications, ongoing research projects
US visa required
Got 1 interview reading hospital PA and 2 rejections so far(1 of them programs didn't sponsor visas NC)
Programs applied 114..

FYI, with an ACGMEi residency (if you completed 3 years), you can technically apply for an IM fellowship. No chance you get Cards / GI / HO, but you would be competiitve for Endo and possibly ID, and Nephrology is a buyer's market with multiple open spots after the match. All of those are 2 year fellowships, you might need a 3rd year to get a license (you might be able to convince them to give you a research year) or you might be able to petition the board to give you a year's credit for 3 years of ACGME-i work.

Question If my school is not accredited to the state I have applied, would I be filtered out? For example FL or NY.

The answer is no, you would not be filtered out. It is your responsibility to find out which states your school is accredited in and what the requirements are in order to get a training license and full license. Yes you can get an IV and even match at a program and then lose everything due to not understanding your situation.

Were in the same boat here mate.. i keep refreshing my email lol
Samesies. It's easier now since I'm on a rotation but it'll be tougher after this month when there's nothing to occupy my mind. Time to find one of those hobbies I keep hearing so much about.
