Well I cant say I was crying, but I know how you feel. I had that feeling when I got accepted to AZCOM a month ago. Its an incredible feeling. It was a very long, depressing road for me as well due to other issues. But that makes it better when you get to where you are right now.

But then today, I got this acceptance, and it was my first choice osteopathic school. Cant complain.

I will add that DMU is also insanely good, but they made the decision between KCU and DMU easy for me. 😎

My heart sank when I saw the email... I've been refreshing for 2 hrs.
Cant believe I made it with my stats. I consider myself the luckiest person in the world at the moment ^^

Everyone says that the KCU interview is more about getting to know you and making sure that you aren't weird, but I definitely felt as though I was being grilled haha. It didn't put a damper on my day though, still a great time. If you don't mind, what day did you interview last week?

So I am interviewing in a couple of weeks and wanted to get some feedback from those that rented a car..... was it worth it or do you wish you would have used Uber, cab, bus etc. instead?

I used Uber twice, to travel to the school and back to my hotel and it cost around 50$. My hotel was close to the airport though so it was like a 15-20 minute trip.

Does any one know when the Joplin campus is opening? AACOM seems to think that the inaugural class is starting in 2016 with us. It's calling it a "remote teaching facility".

Im wondering because if they increase the class size this year by such a significant number, I'd like to see how they plan to address clinical rotations.

Wow that's cheap. I think the cheapest I found was around 60$ for two days, and that was before the big fees for being under 25.

I think it was definitely worth it to rent a car. I relied on taxis in Chicago and ended up spending way more than I did on a rental in KC (and I am under 25). I flew in the day before the interview and rented a car and stayed in a hotel near the school. The evening after the interview I returned the rental so I would only have to pay for one day and I took the free hotel shuttle to a hotel near the airport and then flew out early the next morning. KC was surprisingly easy to navigate and it was nice to be able to drive wherever I wanted for dinner, etc. Hope this helps!

For me, I didn't want to have to worry about driving in a new city, so I took Uber everywhere. There were a surprising number of Uber drivers in Kansas. I didn't have to wait any more than 5 minutes for a driver to pick me up. I took Uber from the airport to the 816 Hotel, which costs ~30 dollars. I also took it to get to a barbeque place, which was 5 dollars each way. 816 Hotel provides shuttles to KCU so I didn't have to worry about that. At the day of the interview, I found some people who were going to the airport after the interview, so I split the cost, and I ended up paying ~10 dollars.

In the end, I spent ~50 dollars on Uber. I prob liked this a lot more than renting a car, because I wouldn't have to have to stress out about driving and finding directions in a new city. I also didn't have to pay extra for gas, or the hefty price for being under 25.

yeah i saw that since I parked my car on the lot out there, but do people actually play on those courts? They seem kinda far and also im not sure if its even possible to play outside when its 40 degrees outside. I did see this thing in New york, where they throw up giant canopies with heaters on them over the outdoor basketball courts.. I'm guessing they don't do that right?

Possibly. And yes it will be expensive. But the wife wants Chicago, so whatcha gonna do? Depends on how the rest of the cycle goes to be honest. Waiting on some MD schools before any final decision will be made.

Thanks! Yea, well sounds like you are in a good spot. CCOM has so many resources for its students. Same with DMU, KCU, AZCOM and plenty of other DO schools I'm not remembering right now

Mine was a 1 on 1 30 minute interview that lasted longer than that because we were talking about stuff not even related to medicine. That should tell you how super conversational non stressful this interview is.

I think they just want to see if you can carry a conversation with another human.

Took public transportation (bus) from airport to where I was staying. That costed $1.50. Stayed at airbnb costed $35. Walked around to explore different neighborhoods. Walked to KCU preinterview. Split an uber with some peeps for $10 to head back to airport. Overall paid $11.50 for transportation, $35 on housing, and much much more for food and drinks LOL

So I don't think renting a car will be worth it. Uber if you can split the cost.
