Lake Erie (LECOM) Discussion Thread 2015 - 2016

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am wondering if someone has any hotel/motel recommendations around LECOM Seton Hill?

To those of you who interviewed at Seton Hill today, good job braving the cold in Greensburg! (And thanks for not eating very much of your breakfast which provided a good chunk of the second year class with free mid-morning coffee snacks 🙂)

So I interviewed yesterday at SH. We only got asked 3 questions each (all in 1 shot) and I slightly feel like that wasn't enough. Is this normal? Will this affect their decision?

The thing they are looking for is how well you are able to interact in the group setting. It is not so much about the number of questions, but how well you showed that you can hit that fine balance between speaking your voice and following what the others are saying, thus enabling the whole interview to flow like a big conversation...
So no 3 questions wont hurt your chances

But that's the thing, there was no discussion. They presented the 3 questions in the beginning and gave us each a chance to answer. I went first too so I couldn't even try to relate to what other people said. 🙁

What did you guys do for the rest of the hour?

I agree with @Johnyellow its all about the group. My answers were'nt great but I was very polite and related with a few of the other interviewers (also keep body language in mind) and I think thats what got me the acceptance.

interviewed 12/21 at Erie and portal changed this afternoon to "committee has made a decision"..... going to be stalking the mailman. lol.
how long was the time gap between the portal change and getting the letter for those who have already reached this point in the application?

Have you scheduled a date and when? (Wondering what dates they have)
Yes I have scheduled one. The only dates that are left online are February 18th, February 29th and one date in March (I believe the 7th or 8th, the portal won't let me see it now). Good luck to you!

I had a portal change sometime before the first of the year, and then I got the letter on the 8th. But I think I was an anomaly due to the holiday.

Call the admissions office to ask when the letters will be sent, and you should receive it within four days.

Hmm, if I interviewed a week before you and haven't heard anything, does that mean I should be worrying? And I hope you get the news soon!

No, do not worry. Unfortunately I was in the same boat as you with people who had interviewed after me having portal changes before I did.

But eventually even my portal changed and I received the good news!

lol and it took mine two days from the portal change

Question for current student: are the schedules loaded into Outlook or a similar program, or does LECOM only give out paper/PDF versions?

Hi guys, I interviewed at LECOM-Erie on December 21st. Did anyone from that date get any decision updates. It just says thank you for interviewing for me
I just checked today and it said they made a decision and it will be mailed

For current students...I am accepted to the Erie campus and will be looking for places to move in the spring, any tips or suggestions for the area?

Guys, I'm pretty sure they do admissions decisions, portal changes, and letter mailing all in batches, and the batch dates don't necessarily have much to do with your interview date. So while I get why you're trying to figure out the timing of it all, I think it's probably a lost cause, and a better use of your time would be guilt-free Netflix bingeing while you still can. 🙂

This is what i call true wisdom you guys . The whole process and its timeline is completely random so try no to overthink it

Anyone know how long IIs are taking after secondary? Did my primary last week, got the secondary and returned it on Monday.

It honestly depends on what they see on your two apps. I think my turnaround was about a week, back in September.

Woo! Got my matriculation packet today! Then I saw all the necessary expenses... 😵
It pays off in the end...that's what I've kept telling myself as my expenses keep adding up haha

Yeah it def adds up quick! Most of my forms are in, just one more deposit in April and that's it.

Good to see others gearing up for class of 2020!

LDP in Erie gets PDF/paper schedules, not sure about PBL here. I know for a fact that DSP and PCSP get Outlook/electronic scheduling.

Can any Seton Hill students comment on the COL, specifically what the average student would expect to pay per month living in a bare bones apartment or home (whichever is considered the norm for the area) near the school? Thank you

Luckily I already had two out of the three titers required, so that cuts out some. Hopefully my insurance will get me a free physical... Let's do this! :claps:

Greensburg may not be the fanciest place in the world, but it is wonderfully cheap if you're moving here from any major city. Check Craig's List-- it's pretty representative.

If you're looking for "bare bones" you can probably find a one-bedroom for $500-$600. I have some friends who live in "The Lofts" and get a furnished room with utilities for about $550/month. There's a landlord named Dana who rents a lot of rooms to LECOM students, but that's all I know about her offhand. A 3-bedroom in the newer/fancier complexes in town will only run you $1500 or so pre-utilities, so overall Greensburg is really reasonable.

Ive been poked 6 times so far!!! First the original titer then had to redue 3 shots then re-titer followed 2 more shots and ill need one more shot in 5 months followed by another titer :vomit::hurting:... LECOM decided I needed the full series of shots sooooo

Interviewed 12/4 and status changed today to decision made... I am going to get to know the mailman so well this week!
