LMU vs CUSOM

Are you from either area? What do you want to do? What's important to you? Where do you want to practice? What area do you like more? Little effort here.

Haven't been to LMU but I've heard that CUSOM is in a much nicer area. Right now its looking like I'll be going to CUSOM and big reason why is that I thought the faculty cared a lot about its students and the people were very friendly. Great facilities too and a lot of the faculty have worked in the research triangle so they definitely are going to be good school. Again, I'm kinda biased though and don't really know much about LMU

Well I can give you some insight into LMU since I have been recently accepted there. The area LMU is in is actually a very pretty area since it's located in the Cumberland Gap, which equals tons of mountains and beautiful views, but it is definitely in a very rural area. I've gone on quite a few interviews, including both MD and DO, and I'd have to say that LMU has the nicest facilities overall. Their anatomy lab, simulation labs, and other facilities are some of the best I've seen. Actually Marion-COM had the best anatomy lab I've ever seen but LMU is a close second. LMU has recently expanded their rotation locations and are continually adding to the list, which is now a pretty big list. From what the students say about their rotations is that they are very good, usually smaller rural hospital systems for the most part with more one-on-one doctor time with the patients. I can't say much about the professors since I haven't started school there yet but I've asked the students many questions about the professors and never heard anything other than how wonderful and helpful they are. I would definitely take a harder look into LMU before you mark them off your list because it is truly a phenomenal school. I applied to CUSOM but never followed up with the secondary because I absolutely fell in love with LMU and had other offers as well so I can't say much about CUSOM besides that they are a rather new school and with any new school you have to be a bit careful, which is the main reason I didn't follow up with them. I'm sure CUSOM is a great school but if you have the choice I'd go to a more established school unless you absolutely love CUSOM and feel like you need to be there. Good Luck!

Which school is an overall better choice? Thanks.
Without knowing what you want out of a school the only answer I can give is: the one that accepts you.

I'm a first-year at LMU and I love it.

I interviewed and was accepted at both, and I agree, we need a little more information about you in order to give valuable input. For me Campbell was the better fit, but that was in large part due to proximity to a bigger area and family. I felt good enough about both schools that I cancelled all other interviews, including to older more established schools. I found where I feel I will best succeed, and that's what matters most.

Wanna through in my two cents. I was accepted by by WVSOM and LMU-DCOM both. While interviewing, I loved WVSOM. However, when I got to DCOM, the family atmosphere and closeness between the student to student and student to faculty I saw here s really unrivaled. I have talked to few of DCOM's student before I interviewed, everything they said was confirmed. I left TN falling in love with DCOM. The curriculum, resources, and faculty here is amazing. I mean the education of all schools in the US is going to be very close to each other, after all each of their student us getting ready for the same boards. However, warmth I saw at DCOM wasn't present in other schools. To me, this closeness will be the key to my success. I even got an ii from PU-KCOM, but I have refused. I am excited and happy to be a part of DCOM.

I interviewed at both and was very impressed by both schools. I don't think you could go wrong with either one. The anatomy lab at LMU was out of this world, and you do have the advantage of them being a bit older and you would have more student ahead of you and an alum network. The location is also absolutely beautiful.

CUSOM had a great vibe, I believe that they really care about their students and work hard to help them succeed. The sim lab was amazing there as well. You also are closer to bigger cities, if that is important to you.

It's a tough choice, and I would advise you to go with your gut. Where did you feel most comfortable? Where could you picture yourself living for the next 4 years? Do you have family or friends nearby either area?
