Loma Linda Interview?

Does anyone have a guess as to when the next admissions committee meeting will be? It's getting pretty late in the season, so I wonder if they're still only meeting once a month, at the middle of the month...
 
i am guessing mid month still...I called and it seemed like nothing had changed on my file since the acceptance calls went out on 3/14 (i called that day too), but there had to be a meeting to determine who got the recent rejection letters...but yeah it is getting late

sweet, I was thinking about starting one too but kept forgetting!
 
Right, so, we all know that the Adcom tends to meet on a friday on or around the 15th of each month. Any guesses as to whether it'll be the 11th or the 18th this month? I'm trying to be patient but 3 months of waiting is killing me...
 
my optimistic guess is the 11th...just because it is getting late and i think they should meet sooner than later
 
Hey everybody, had my second interview yesterday. I'm pretty sure I was the only one, since Ms. Edwards only had one packet laid out on her desk. I was not able to figure out why I had a second interview, but one of the interviewers said it was not completely uncommon for it to happen.

I think both interviews went well (one better than the other), so hopefully it was enough to nudge me into the accepted pile. If not, I will be applying again!

Prayers to all of us still waiting.

well I am not james bond...if I was why would I be applying to med school...but the office is open and his door is closed, which was the same situation when the calls were going out on 3/14...so who knows, we will see

Couldn't this also mean that he is not in today, or is at a meeting, or wanted to work with the door closed?

I speculate that they usually meet on Fridays and call on Mondays. Last month was an exception since he was going to be/was gone the following Monday (whole week actually). Mere conjecture however.
 
yes all that could be true...
according to SDN history people have been called on 12/19 (wed), 1/18 (fri), 2/19 (tues), and 3/14 (friday with him out of town the next week)...
so I guess the day of the week doesn't matter much
 
no excited posts filled with stories of acceptance calls? might this mean that the adcom will meet THIS friday, not last friday? anybody have any info on any movement at all?

I think we can all say that getting into medical will be the most exciting event of our lives thus far...but we would also say that Jesus coming would be just a tad better than that. Okay, a lot more...lets just hope that the Rapture will happen before starts or many many years after, otherwise that would a lot of work for not much.

I've heard it floating around that 2012ish is pretty much doomsday, or the rapture, or at least something earth shattering. Wouldn't that be a trip. Go through four years of med school. Get matched into your dream specialty and....poof! time's up. But hey, who knows?

I'm gonna have to side with Reno on this one, there really isnt a bad time for Him to come back...its not like I'm gonna say, " Hey Lord, would you mind coming back in a few years? I'd really like to put all my training to good use before the end of times..." lol :laugh:. That being said, at this juncture in my life the call from Dr. Nyiradi would be almost as glorious as the second coming🙂

It is good to see that no one is reporting being called...well sort of anyway. Since I missed the original call I am starting to feel like "left-overs" though. Weeks old, moldy left-overs. 😱
 
do they ever form a waitlist? or are they waiting till may 15th when they are forced to by AAMC (I think they are on that date)

Oh, my bad XT777. I had to re-read the passage. Clearly the oil in the virgins' lamps represent the battery life in our cell phones. Everyone charge your batteries diligently!

Also, I think there is no waitlist yet. My interviewer said they just re-review you at every successive meeting. Maybe they'll form one down the line, but I doubt anytime soon. BTW, does anyone know the admissions statistics for LLU? They are not given in US News.
 
I thought by may 15th they had to tell you rejection, acceptance, waitlist. I know that is the day that someone (luckier than me) with multiple offers has to decide.

The only stats i remember off the top of my head is that they last year interviewed around 375 and have a class size of around 170. So that means they have to make more than 170 offers to fill the class. Thus, I think at least 1/2 of people interviewed should be accepted.
 
Well, I didn't get a call, but my pastor did! Yeah, they called my pastor yesterday for a reference. He told them "to hurry up and take her!" (Thanks Pastor Dan!)

I just find this very interesting, since in my second batch of interviews, one of the interviewers implied that I was not "Christian-enough" and that he knew my pastor. So maybe that is what prompted the reference call.

Anyway, just think of how well the AdCom is going to know us before we're even accepted, since they've been poring over our applications since summer.
 
so that means the adcom might have met (and decided that they needed to call your pastor)...good news that they could have met, bad news is that I do not appear too religious on paper and did not even list a priest to call because since I have been in college and moving I have not had the same priest for more than 6 months. (Catholicism likes shipping priest around these days)

^ you are right, just found and read all the "recommendations" seems like LLU hasn't really followed them. aka not notifying a large number of people by march 30th.

If I remember correctly...
MCAT average is around 30
OGPA is around 3.8
BCMP is around 3.7
Class size is around 175
They interview between 350 and 400 people
Offer acceptances to around 225 -250 people (around 60%)

It is good that you re-read the passage. Sound exegesis sometimes takes a few readings. 😉
 
a buddy of mine, who is also waiting to hear from loma linda, called today to check on the status of his application. The secretary (not Lenoa) told him that they are meeting on a weekly basis now! Anyone else here anything along these lines? tdsbird2, you work there, any ideas?

If that is the case, it seems odd that none of us have gotten a call or know anyone that has gotten a call...
 
So have all of you that have been interviewed, waitlisted, or accepted put some sort of religious EC down on the primary appllication??? or is this what the secondary is for??? Do you even have to put one down??

I have no extras ideas. I have been talking it out with the Dr. I work with about it and he is on the residency adcom so he really doesn't know any facts he has a lot of experience. And he thinks it might be good that we havent heard anything at this time because they have rejected people and the pool to pick from is getting smaller (rejected, people going else where)

I predict calls tomorrow. It is a friday, it is the 18th, and I want it to happen...charge the phones tonight

James bond here. There are many letters being folded in the admissions office currently. They aren't 1 sentence letters and it seems like there were other pages to add to them. So maybe they are rejections and maybe they have just decided to mail the remaining acceptances...just an update, make what you want out of it

All the rejections I have received were quick, one page letters. If they are adding more pages to them they are (hopefully) probably acceptances for us folk who have been waiting since Jan to hear word....!
 
and....so the waiting killed me and I called and was told "i would be informed soon" I ask, "when is soon?" "by the end of the month" sounds like a rejection letter is heading my way
 
OCD james bond here. Went back and lurked some more. It seems like there is multiple stacks of things to be mailed including some forms, a 1 page letter, a second page of written stuff...I think everyone should call and try to get pieces to the puzzle, so we can get a better picture

🙁 Sad news for me, but not the worst news ever . . . I was placed on the alternate list today. Good luck to the rest of you, and maybe with some prayer I'll see you this Fall?!

So the forms, 1 page letter and a second page are all being stuffed into the same envelope? If so, I would bet that these are acceptance letters waiting to be mailed out, since rejection letters are always 1-page, no fuss letters. The forms are probably for your intent to register and $100 deposit. It is also possible that these are alternate list letters, though I don't understand what the forms would be for (except they're like UCLA and you have to ask to be added to their waitlist 🙄). What is the status of Dr. Nyiradi? Is he in the office making any calls?
 
well when i saw the stuffing of a envelope it had multiple pages (I think, not sure) and then when I went back they were just stagered on the desk no one stuffing or folding them (could be going in different envelopes for different people). Dr. N's door was open but I couldn't tell from the hall if he was in or not (EDIT: he is here)...when he was calling on 3/14, his door was shut
 
You should just waltz right in there and say to Dr. Nyiradi: "I'll save you the phone call, why don't you tell me the good news in person?"

I called the admissions office today. My file is still "under-review." 😕
My interview date was the end of February. Anybody still under-review?
 
I just got "The Call."

Apparently the adcom met yesterday.

I will write more when I have collected myself.
