Meharry Medical College Master of Health Science 2022

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hi,
I emailed Mr. Chandler two days ago for a possible update but I haven't gotten any response.

Has anyone else tried to reach out to admissions or have any other point of contact at the admission office?

I think I have been checking my email like 30 times a day lol
I also emailed for possible update and I didn't get a response. They heard something around this time last year, so hopefully we will too! Between checking my email and this thread, this wait has been testing me, but patience is a virtue I guess 😭

the only solace is this thread cause I know other people are also waiting to hear back.
I hope we get some good news soon and keep updating on this thread.
Do you think we should be sending a letter of intent?

Nah, I don't believe a letter of intent is necessary for their SMP program. I know it's hard but patience is highly required before, during, and even after this program lol.

yes I definitely believe patience is the aspect, do not send multiple emails asking on status or so, just wait and remember you are applying to an HBCU program; undergrad or grad things take time lol, but yes our program just ended so they should be shifting focus to your cohort soon.

hey guys! i haven’t taken the dat yet, but i did put the date of my test in the application we had to submit on march 31st. is it possible to get accepted without taking the dat? i plan to take it in june, but i’m afraid that it will affect my acceptance due to not taking it before the application deadline. ☹️

I have a question when the meharry MHS program begins?

I really hope that we all can hear something back this week. I really need to make a decision QUICK! I don’t want it to be too late for me to apply for financial aid. Lord knows that Meharry is where I want to be… I’m trying so hard to wait on them.

How I been looking these past few weeks [emoji23]

U can still go ahead and do your FAfsa in the meantime. Just make sure you add all of the schools you applied to. So when you get your acceptance they can process it quicker.

Are there any update on if this program will remain online this year ?

Well, this is tricky, cuz I know they may not review the application without a DAT score on file, but you may still be able to finesse your way in for this cycle since, for dental folks, you get the score immediately after the writing the exam. However, I would try and get in contact with someone in admissions, who can provide a final answer for you in this situation.

We still don't know about that information for your cohort. However, I don't see why they wouldn't continue remaining online. It's a win-win situation for both the program and the students. Though, I'd just be prepared for anything in case I am wrong. : /

For all of your sakes I do hope they say that you'll be online; I kinda feel like because our cohort was online they accepted more of us than they would have if it were in person and I would love to check this thread within the next couple weeks or so and see that you all got into the program so I hope your cohort is still virtual.

is it too late to apply? I heard its rolling and I emailed but never got a response.

For currents applicants, does anyone intend on moving to Nashville even if it’s online? Also are there people in this years cohort who chose to move anyway even Though it’s online? just tryna gauge if I should consider moving 😅

I went to undergrad at TSU so I was already here lol but I feel like over half of our class still moved here from wherever they were so you would be in good company in your class I'm sure

Just out of curiousity, what did everyone do while they were waiting to hear back?

I don't wanna keep emailing the admissions team with the risk of being annoying. But how did you guys deal with the waiting period?
I have been praying A LOT lol but is there anything you all can recommend for us waiting to hear back?
Anything that would be done during the waiting period?
I am currently a PCT at the hospital working on a COVID unit .

Well kind of like you I was working in a lab that processed covid samples and working at amazon so I was just working while waiting, my only problem with the waiting was that I never knew when to give my two weeks notice which is annoying. I wold suggest getting some you time in, go bowling, see a movie, top golf lol idk but you'll wanna be focused during the program. I mean you can work during the program if you can balance all of that but definitely do some fun things and also if you are moving from somewhere do some things in your city that you may not get to do for a while. Even though I went here for undergrad I'm from DC, so I went to some museums, and ate some food I know would be hard to come by here before moving here, definitely get you some rest too and enjoy not studying for a little bit. Plus doing fun things will help get your mind off the waiting

Emailed the admissions team today and this was their response:

Thank you for your ongoing interest in Meharry Medical College and for contacting the Office of Admissions & Recruitment. This is to confirm receipt of your email.
At this time, both Admission Committees are still diligently reviewing applications.

According to our current records, your applications in both the School of Medicine and for the MHS program are still under review.

You will receive a notification from our office as additional status updates are made available.

Guys we gotta be patient. This is my #1 choice but I'm applying to other programs and I suggest everyone do the same, especially if you for sure want to be in school this Fall.

Also does anyone know if Meharry sends decisions on waves to the applicants?
I really feel like I shot my shot cause I applied the day before the deadline/on the deadline 🙁
For everyone that has been accepted so far, when did you all submit your application?

there are a couple folks in our cohort that applied the day before and got an acceptance and yes they accept in waves as well. I remember we had a week where a lot got accepted then silence for 2 weeks then another wave, still plenty of time, congrats to those of you who got accepted already! I am excited for you and I know I'll see more acceptances as time progresses!

Lol fair point, but at the end of the day, the choice is yours to make.
Guys!! I just got the A!! Did you all get something as well?
Yay! Congrats to You and everybody else who has been accepted so far. So happy for you all.

For those waiting to hear, don't panic, yours is coming too. ( :

Congrats to those already accepted! 🎉

Hi 🙂 I emailed them on Monday and they replied right away.
Ms. Gibbs said they have over 700 applications for this program so it would be a while before we heard back.
She replied right away, so this gives me hope and the office seems efficient as well 🙂

Hey! I just got accepted into the Meharry MHS program and wanted to know if anyone knew if after the completing the program if it is a guaranteed interview? or if it will increase my chances getting into Meharry Medical School?

And a cumulative gpa of 3.5 in the program
