Anyone have any theories for why the number of applications skyrocketed so much?? I mean, 41%, that's crazy!

It sounds like you were inspired by some pretty awesome kids!! I’m sure admissions will look highly upon your experiences and essay about them.

I tried to fit my current volunteer work with homeless youth in the essay. I think I scrapped it because I kept forcing the subject and it didn’t sound like a natural response. But! I’m constantly learning life lessons (I.e diffusing situations) from them which hopefully will help in MMIs.
It helped because I talked about me teaching them integrity and them teaching me empathy and compassion. These were kids with a lot of issues but they still contact me one is going to be a vet tech now.

Hey guys! I’m a first year, IS non traditional student at MSU. Congrats to everyone who has heard about interviews! To everyone else, hang in there!

If anyone has questions about the new curriculum, the interview day, or anything else related to MSU cvm, please feel free to reach out. I remember being so nervous and exited and had a million questions so I am happy to help any way I can. Looking forward to meeting some of you soon at interviews!

What's the new cirraculum? Or are you just saying along the lines of switching from undergrad to professional schooling?

**still compulsively refreshing my email**

Like SkiOtter said, they completely changed the curriculum! Unlike the traditional lecture style of vet school (called the legacy curriculum here) we have a system based flipped classroom model. It’s been really great! We have daily reading assignments that prepare us for the days activities. Whether going to anatomy lab, working with live animals in the new clinical skills lab, or working on cases with classmates, we have SO much hands on learning. I’m amazed how much I know at the end of each system course.

Sounds fantastic from the trenches of reading a biochemistry book by myself!! 🙂 I did my research on the school and I knew they changed around some things, like hogswart houses *internal screaming* but it's good to hear that the new setup is working!

Oh man this sounds awesome

A lot of us really love it, though if you really really like lectures, and don't like self-study, you will be disappointed.
Im a hands on learner who makes my own test questions based on material given or my own notes. I need to use my senses to effectively learn.

How’d you feel about interviews today? I thought it was a pretty fun day overall!

To all of you who are interviewing on later dates: relax! It’s not as bad as you think it’s gonna be! I promise! Good luck!

I definitely flubbed my first room 🙄, but I feel really great about the rest and the over all experience!
Good luck to the rest of the IS interviewees!
Can't believe we hear back in 2 and 1/2 weeks!! :joyful:

That’s the great thing about MMIs, though! Even if you hit a rough patch, you get a clean slate in every room (thank goodness :dead:)

Also, all you ISers, they told us today that they hope to send out invites/waitlist/etc the week of Dec 17, so mark your calendars!! 🙂🙂😱 OOSers - hang in there!

That's more ambition than I have xD

I aspire to become a lot like them in terms of tenacity. More power to them!

I honestly can't imagine going to veterinary school right outside of high school though. TBH, I wasn't mature enough. I needed a few mental breakdown, a few bad grades and a few professors to knock some sense into me.

Still radio silence since the last update email! I'm hoping since the last week of IS interviews is this upcoming weekend (I think?) that they'll get invites for us OOS applicants out this week or next?? Thoughts???

With the approaching break I think that we can probably expect results before Christmas. However, I also believe that because they had so many applicants, that the deadline could be after the 1st of January.
