Official rejection email this morning from UMich HBHE, for anyone keeping track.

Heard anything from Columbia or berkeley?

Excellent info. Have you heard anything from columbia? Have you had an interview? Trying to gauge whether others have heard anything .

I don't mean to sound short (although I am in real life, physically 😉), but this question has been answered many times in this thread. I suggest doing a thread-specific search on Columbia, Yale (has also been asked about many times), Berkeley, and any other schools you applied to. Also check out the Montreux Admissions Predictor.

Hi everyone. I've been a long time lurker but decided to make a post and join y'all on this journey towards grad school!

Undergrad School: The University of Texas at Austin
Undergrad GPA/Major GPA: 3.33/~3.55
Major/Minor: Nutritional Sciences/Dietetics
GRE (including date taken) or Other Test (if applicable): 10/21/15........151V, 158Q, 4AW
Experience/Research (please, be brief):

-Global Medical Brigades: got to to travel to Honduras and do a week long of clinic work with the community. Also worked with the organization on campus as vice president and aided in planning and recruiting ~1.5 years
-volunteered at the milk bank for a semester
-food service/nutrition assistant at a large pharmaceutical company ~ 3 months
-interned abroad at a public health government agency ~3 months
-interned with a dietitian startup company ~3 months

I know GPAs for most schools are usually 3.0 minimum, but judging by other applicants and other average stats, I don't know if my grades are the most competitive and it doesn't really help that my GRE verbal score is a bit low. Also concerned that most of my job experiences are not long-term and usually end within a semester.

My first real choice is UT-SPH due to convenience being in Texas, but I included some reach schools, cause you never know! If anybody has any insight of.. my chances (i.e. shooting too high, too many schools, etc), please free to comment.

Interested in: MPH in ... Health Promotion/Education, Community, Nutrition depending on the schools. Looking at UNT, UMich, Emory, BU, Tulane and some other reach schools such as Berkeley, UNC, Columbia....
Applied: ALL VERIFIED on 11/13!! UT-SPH (Community Health, submitted 11/ 2), UCLA (Community Health submitted 11/2), UMich (HBHE & Nutrition, submitted 11/5), UNT (Community Health, submitted 11/5), Berkeley (Nutrition, 11/5), UNC (Health Behavior 11/6), Emory (BS&HE 11/8), Columbia (Sociomedical 11/9), Tulane (Nutrition 11/9), BU (11/8)
Accepted: Tulane (11/17), BU (12/19), UNT (12/23), UMich for HBHE (1/8), UMich for Nutrition (1/15), UT (1/15), Emory (Checked OPUS on 1/25... dunno how long my acceptance was sitting there... No email either)

Congrats, looks like you got many acceptances. Heard anything from Columbia?

The Montreux Admissions Predictor is very useful, but does anyone know when to expect to hear from the Health and Social Behavior program at Berkeley specifically? Has anyone heard so far? It looks like Berkeley might release decisions in general in two days, but I'm unsure which programs that might be for.

Fyi, all postings were from a year ago so they aren't helpful

Sorry, I meant search this thread, not last year's thread, although these may not apply to you either (assuming you're applying to DrPH programs as your username suggests). And, based on some of the acceptance dates this year, they seem to be matching up quite well with when I was applying, so don't discount last year's thread.

Columbia HPM interview :bigtears: so nervous! Any tips? I'm so bad at speaking ugh.

How did your interview go? I had mine about the same time as yours. Did they tell you when you would hear about decision?

They should be since the dates typically don't vary much from year to year.

Thank you all, I found an old thread that showed dates. My apologies as this is the first time I am using this kind of forum so am a little green.

I did find what I was looking for though. Wishing you all the best of luck! The waiting is killing me!!!

Good news!!! I got an acceptance decision from UNC's nutrition department yesterday! I submitted my application on 12/2.

CONGRATULATIONS!! I also applied to this program. May I ask, did you have any sort of interview or is this the first interaction you received after applying?

I applied to Colorado Env and Behavioral Health on 12/29, verified 1/4 (early decision 1/15 deadline)-- From what I can gather, no one from this specific concentration has heard anything. I spoke with admissions yesterday and they said the first round of decisions will be sent out mid-late Feb. Hold on tight! The wait game continues...

We are almost done!

anyone just get an email from Columbia about a survey for financial aid? it legit gave me a heart attack for a sec.

I just did too. I freaked out because I was actually telling someone that I applied to Columbia right when I got the email LOL. Does everyone get the email? I don't really see anything in the mph 2015 thread about the financial aid survey.

Just curious!

How did your interview go? I had mine about the same time as yours. Did they tell you when you would hear about decision?

It was entirely neutral. It was hard to feel good or bad lol, but my interviewer followed up with some info regarding questions I had, which was nice! She said she applied around when I did two years prior and heard back the second week of February, although they quoted the end of February. If that helps at all 🙂

Did anyone else apply to Colorado State? And for what? And do you know when decisions start rolling out?
idk if you saw my post today-- I didnt apply to CO State... but as you know, all programs are under "Colorado School of Public Health"-- I'm not sure what emphasis you applied to but I did env and occ health. Per admissions, decisions arent sent out until mid-late feb!

That's my concentration within Global Health and I got a "recommended for admission" email on 01/15. I still haven't received the official acceptance letter, though (they said it would be a few days) - might be time to follow up on that.

Rejected Oregon MPH Program. Awks cause its not even a Public Health School... but oh well.!
What did you apply for here? I applied for at PSU... but didnt make early decision.. so I am not even up for review until Feb!

I wrote the wrong concentration on the post... I applied to environmental and occupational health! I hope it doesnt make a difference!... CRAP!

http://forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/columbia-2013.984409/ Not sure if that helps at all. It seems a few people who said they received the survey from a few years back also got accepted later. Maybe a good sign, maybe a neutral sign? Hopefully something will come out soon!

FYI I also applied to Columbia (for SMS) and didn't receive the survey :/

SMS and no financial aid survey here either! Hoping it doesn't correlate, or maybe that the email gets sent out in waves. I imagine they got a LOAD of applicants!

I applied for HSB as well. I've been creeping on the GradCafe results page hard for months, and it looks like HSB comes out in early-mid Feb.

http://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=public+health <-- you can search for specific schools within these results to look at trends

Hope this helps!

re: Columbia financial aid email, it looks as though the people who got it all applied to Epi or HPM. Other concentrations, don't lose hope!

Finally, got news from Emory. My application for Global Health "did not receive a favorable decision" (hehehe what funny wording), and now it's under review for Behavioral Sciences and Health Education. Kind of anticipated that and wasn't sure that I fit Global Health anymore so pretty OK. Just relieved I finally heard something from Emory. 😛

I'm definitely late to the game on posting stats and stuff but I wanted to put them out there because I had no idea what my chances were when I applied and I've been pleasantly surprised.

I'm concerned I waited too long to apply to UM but I got a bit intimidated which lead to some procrastination.
Waiting to hear back from UNC has been rough. Fingers crossed.

Best of luck y'all!

As long as the admission deadline has not passed, you will be accessed the exact same way as all other regular decision applicants (I am assuming the priority deadline has passed, but could be wrong). Don't worry about it.

Oh, I just wanted to clarify that when I say to use the Montreux Admissions Predictor, I mean to do what s/he did and do a search for the schools you applied to on previous years' threads. Make note of both the date they submitted their application and the date they received notification (acceptance/rejection). For example, I applied to GW on 04/13, got an unofficial acceptance on 05/08, and got an official acceptance on 05/15.

Thanks! My interview went the same. She reached out afterwards and also sent answers to my questions. However, it seems like people are getting financial aide surveys today which could be a bad sign. I talked to a currently enrolled student that said they received a financial aide survey right before getting an official admission decision from Columbia. But who knows
