MPH / MSPH 2021: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected, Attending

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats to everyone so far!!! I regret turning my application in late, cause now I'm getting really anxious. 😭

Do programs typically allow switching concentrations or is that pretty much unheard of?

The anxiety with waiting for decisions on the applications should be classified as a “public health” issue!!! 😂

Hey, happy new years eve everyone! Has anyone received their invite to interview for Columbia's HPM program yet and/or have you already done it? Just recently received notification that an email invite from a current student should be coming to me for an interview via phone call and I wanted to know if anyone had any experience and if they knew if this means anything aside from being a supplement to their review process. Thanks!
Hi! I am an international student who applied for the HPM program of Columbia. So pitty, I found that I didn't receive any invitation for an interview;(
Since the Columbia is my dream school I feel like my heart will be broken.
If you don't mind can you tell me your application timeline?

I hope there will be a second round for the interview or different interview timeline for the international applicants.

Thanks in advance!

Just got into Yale - Chronic Disease Epi program!

Sophas verified on 10/20/2020, Under review at Yale on 11/18/2020, accepted on 1/6/2021 !!!!

CONGRATS!! Did they just email you? There's no Yale applicant portal right? 😬 so it took them 2 months...

Does anyone have an idea of when UNC Chapel Hill usually releases their decisions? I applied for the priority deadline, and am very nervous about this one!

Has anyone heard back from GW for the health policy concentration? Mine went under review on November 30th.

Has anybody heard from the University of MN recently? My app was sent to the admissions committee on 12/4 and they said they’d send decisions in about three weeks, buts it’s been about five weeks now 🥴
I'm in a similar situation, which program did you apply to?

I found information for Columbia and BU. But I don't know if we are able to make switches now. But that would be helpful because of departmental financial aid ☹

Columbia
"Changes in Department and/or Certificate after Matriculation

Request to Change Departments
Students interested in switching departments may do so only during designated periods. These are during the
change of program period and Department Transfer Request Period of one’s first semester of enrollment and
prior to the first day of classes of one’s second semester. See the academic calendar for specific dates. (The
Department of Health Policy and Management will not accept requests to switch into their department after the
fall change of program period.) Student may only change departments once.
After the fall change of program period, students must complete a Request to Deviate from Academic Plan
(RDAP) to request a department change. In addition to the requirements listed on the RDAP form, students
must also include a brief personal statement similar to the Statement of Purpose and Objectives from their
original SOPHAS application. This new statement should focus on the new department a student wishes to
enter. Please be aware: obtaining signed documents and submitting the necessary paperwork does not
guarantee admission to the other department. Changes to one's degree program may have financial
implications. All inquiries should be directed to the Office of Student Affairs at [email protected].

Declaring or Switching Certificates

Columbia MPH students only.
Students who still need to declare a certificate or who are interested in switching certificates may only do so
during Certificate Open Enrollment. The Office of Educational Programs (OEP) holds certificate information
sessions prior to the open enrollment during which students will receive information on where to learn more
about and apply to different certificates. Look to Transmission and CourseWorks announcements for details
on dates, times, and locations. Students may always explore the certificates at any time for information about
requirements and application procedures. Questions about certificates should be directed to OEP.
Certificate switches are not guaranteed and may have financial and academic implications. Some
certificates, based on required coursework in fall and/or spring semesters or other prerequisites,
may require earlier declaration and/or may not be available for switche

Boston
"
If I Select A Certificate During The MPH Application Process, Is That Binding?
No. Students will have the opportunity to finalized their certificate choices once on campus."

I heard back from UNC 12/18 – I submitted my supplemental app 11/11 and my application was verified 11/23.

Did anyone get an email from Yale yesterday talking about the programs and concentrations? I thought this was odd because I applied before 12/15 and did know about the program since I did apply there. Made me nervous seeing an email from Yale and was hoping it was a decision!

Me too!!! I’m hoping for a decision soon!!

Hey everyone, I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question but I'm currently in the process of filling out my SOPHAS application and was wondering if we need to fill out the experiences and achievements sections (it seems a bit redundant to me since we all need to submit our CV anyways)? Also, if we don't need to fill it out, I'm wondering if people generally fill it out or leave it blank?

Does anyone know which program has a lower acceptance rate: NYU CGPH (Global Health) or BUSPH (Health Promotion & Communication)? Getting mixed answers when I google this. Thank you!

Has anyone received decision from NYU Epi?

Thank you! Yes they sent me an email. There is a personalized Yale page that they gave us access to a while ago. Idk if it classifies as a portal, but when I went on it after receiving my acceptance it said "Congratulations"

Anyone one know when Columbia sends out decisions usually? I applied to PopFam

I filled it out, but not to the extent of my CV. I added the experiences and in the description, summarized by CV bullets in a sentence or two.

Yes I did.. I’m so nervous

This might be a silly question, but is it customary to send a thank-you email after being accepted into a program?
