MPH / MSPH 2021: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected, Attending

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It was in one of the first emails I received from BU, I think once I added it in SOPHAS, back in November? The email subject was "Welcome to Boston University School of Public Health".
OK! I don't think i received this unless I accidentally deleted it. But thank you so much for sharing, I was able to access it through the link that you posted!

Can someone tell me what to click once I click on the personalized page link? For some reason, a general page with MPH news comes up and no login or personalized info.

for me i just put in https://exploresph.bu.edu/FirstnameLastname/landing and it immediately came up with nothing to click on - tbh it seems like BU is a little bit disorganized right now 😳

same here!! there was no login page, just their general website 🙁
You don't have to sign in or anything. You just insert your name where it says firstnamelastname in the link and it will automatically take you to your personalized site. It seems similar to the Yale personalized page where it just gives general information about the school. But on the home page it should say "Thank You for Your Application, First name".

lol I had never heard of the personal URL page for BU. I went on it and it also seems like I got an acceptance. Also haven't' gotten an email though.
Ok nevermind, it seems I did receive one in October on an email titled "Chat with a Current BUSPH Student!"

Serious question- how are y'all dealing with the wait? I know I've still got a few weeks before I hear back and I'm still refreshing my email constantly. I've been trying to focus on work and unrelated hobbies but I keep coming back to my inbox 🤣

I've heard back from most of my schools by now but the wait has honestly been super rough for me. I have been "distracting" myself searching for and applying for scholarships.

Not dealing well - I work full-time in my school's admissions office so we get people who call daily asking about the status of their app, and it has been very hard to NOT be that person rn.

I probably won’t hear for a couple of weeks as well but honestly I’ve been checking this forum, my portals and emails non-stop. I think I’m going to set a goal of only checking once a day and focus on work, read books etc. because this is not sustainable for my mental health lol

If anyone has any insight on any of these programs lmk! Any advice would be greatly appreciated, especially for someone applying right out of undergrad 🙂 I'm also open to learning about new schools to apply to that fit my interests if anyone has any ideas!

Also if anyone has any insight on how well some of these schools fund their students that would also be greatly appreciated

Came here to offer insight on GW, if anyone wants to message me. I have just started my first year there in the Health Policy program. We are remote so I can’t really comment on the campus but I have lived in DC for 2+ years so I can answer questions about the area.
Hi! I have questions about funding for the GW MPH. Are there opportunities for campus employment for MPH students?

Same here. But mine says something about starting in the spring? I definitely applied for Fall 2021. I don’t want to get my hopes up if it’s a glitch, because I haven’t gotten an email.

Would love to hear about this as well! That’s the program I was accepted to. It a top choice but the cost concerns me

Are there anyone else who are newly invited to an interview hosted by Columbia, HPM? I hope they are still sending out invitations...

Has anyone received a rejection from Emory? I applied on 12/16 and was routed for review on 1/8. I'm starting to get nervous that only acceptances have been sent out so far and not hearing back yet means I might not have gotten in.
I applied 11/23, went under review 12/10. Still no decision. I've given up and assumed I got rejected. I cannot find a reason for why it would take THIS long.

Just checked SOPHAS and noticed a new app submitted under one of my schools to a concentration I indicated as my second choice. It was marked as "manual." Does this mean I was rejected from the other concentration? It was my top choice 😢
Same thing happened to me! Except my second choice was global health.

I hope that they are admitting some people without interviews, as I haven't been contacted either about one...
Has anyone here been accepted to Columbia HPM without one?

Does anyone know the difference between application data (school portal) and SOPHAS date? I submitted my application to Emory on 1/4 via SOPHAS and in the portal, it says 1/14.

Has anyone submitted an addendum addressing low GPA and/or a failed class? Would you mind providing any advice or insight, I'm kind of lost of what to write.

Updating because I just got an email from UIC that said they have “recommended me for admission”! Seems like an almost guaranteed acceptance 🙂

Hi everyone! Just putting this here for data and so anyone applying to these schools can ask questions in the future! Good luck to us all!

Anyone who got acceptance letter from JHU MPH program with scholarship,

Was it MTS (Master's Tuition Scholarship)? if not what was the name of the scholarship?
I feel like I applied to the program that doesn't offer any grants/scholarships....

Has anyone submitted an addendum addressing low GPA and/or a failed class? Would you mind providing any advice or insight, I'm kind of lost of what to write.
I did! Basically make it short and sweet. Mine was 2 paragraphs long. I addressed my low gpa, didnt make any excuses, and listed strats on how I would excel in a masters program.

I hope that they are admitting some people without interviews, as I haven't been contacted either about one...

I still haven't gotten an interview for HPM either and I submitted in early November... Doubting i'll hear good news.

I got the master's tuition scholarship. I applied for the MHS in social factors of health. I applied for more need-based aid but don't think i'll get much, haven't heard back yet though so who knows.

Check your messages. I PMed you.

Is there anyone else who hasn't gotten a decision email from BU AND has not had their landing page updated yet? And by any chance, did you apply for Health Comm and Promotion?

This is really testing my patience. 🙄
I applied to Epi, have not received a decision, and my portal has no decision either. Mental health = tanked

I'm still waiting, but I applied to Human Rights & Social Justice. Maybe they're both in the Health Disparities Department and that's the connection?? Not sure honestly, but hoping for everyone's sakes that it gets a bit more organized soon!

The 14th probably means that's when your application was routed to Emory system. That's when they can start the review

Me too, I got the MTS for the 2 year MSPH. Do you know if MTS is a needs-based or an automatic scholarship upon admission? Can't find much Infos on it.

I did, I wrote a 2-page addendum for Columbia (haven't heard back from them so idk its effects yet) (calculus and chem were tough) but I wrote one paragraph about why I struggled in my freshman year, what I learned from the experience and what I hope to take with me towards my future studies at Columbia.

They are merit based I think, and I think the specific policies depend on each program and department. I know for my program the acceptance letter said I would be receiving the MTS but for some other programs it says that students who perform well in the first year will get it the second year.

Bit update for anyone else who applied to Brown: I emailed admission regarding a decision timeline and they said. “ normally it takes roughly 8-12 weeks but we have not sent out any decision letters yet. Due to a record increase in the number of applications we received this year, it is going to take at least 8 weeks more for us to get decisions out.”
