MPH / MSPH 2021: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected, Attending

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats!!! Am i seeing correctly that you applied 1/14? dang, that is the quickest turn around time for columbia I think I have seen on this forum!
Yes, last minute decision! I'm just as surprised as you are!

so happy to see so many acceptances today after the Columbia debacle phew! does anyone have an idea about the average turnaround time for UNC. I applied kind of late on 02/02

UMich SPH sends scholarship notification on Mondays per admitted students Q&A webinar.

Did anyone hear anything on Monday?

I heard about my scholarship on a Wednesday... not sure if they mean from here on but don’t be discouraged if a Monday passes and you don’t hear!

meeeeee! 👋 im a social worker and had to use some of the mindfulness/relaxation exercises I often share with clients myself the last few weeks
What concentrations/programs did y'all apply to? I've had to do some meditation myself! Good luck to both!! 🙂

Harvard was my you-don't-have-a-chance-buddy-but-try-anyway program. They've already contacted me regarding financial aid questions, so I assume that's gonna push my decision email back a bit.

Tomorrow is my birthday... An email from Yale could make it the best or worst birthday ever 😆 Still hoping to hear something!

You should not hope to just hear something because at 10am on Wed last week, I got an email from Yale, which said in bold letters, "Innovating through Collaboration." I heard something from Yale last week alright 😇

I hope to hear an admissions decision. There, my hope is very specific 😆

I applied to health policy and it was ~3 weeks submitting the supplemental app to getting the decision. Might depend on your department! Good luck 🙂

Happy early birthday.

Here is a crystal ball for your birthday. Please close your eyes and make a wish. 😁

Accepted to U of Utah! They want to me send in my response by March 2nd! Not sure how to feel about that considering I’m still waiting to hear back from some schools...

@mphwannabe123

Just send them the Rutgers response that was posted here earlier -

"Great to hear from you, and I hope all is well. Your response has been received and is complete. You will be notified once I have made a decision. If you need anything else, please feel free to reach out to me."

😆 Seems reasonable.

Also, has anyone applied to JHU's MSPH program in Health, Behavior, and Society? How long did it take for you to hear back?

Now that people are receiving acceptances and deciding where to go one of the biggest issues is: Will campuses be open in the Fall for in-person learning?

That issue has been on my mind since I committed to NYU.
I've also been worried about this issue.

I’m slightly worried about this but the Dean of BU said in a live session a few weeks back that they’re planning to be mostly in person in the fall

I was told that California State Universities and UCs will most likely be back in-person in the fall, so other campuses might be opening up as well.

Attending: planning to defer

My question here is that I am an international student who lacks funds, has anyone here been awarded the merit scholarship from Emory? If so, how did the process go by? I am also curious if Emory can accept deferral since I am planning on applying for a Fulbright award, but the announcement will be sometime around August. If I happen to pay the deposits for Emory and JHU deferral but at the end, I eventually have to choose to attend only one of them, will there be any punishment or penalty for not attending the school or will it just cost my enrollment deposit? Thank you very much for the enlightenment.

You should read the Tuition + Financial assistance/Scholarships on each school's site. Many of the schools I applied to consider you for merit scholarships once you submit FAFSA, but that's for US citizens only... I've seen a couple students post on here that they got a merit scholarship from Emory already; I think those students are US citizens. I think for Emory, they announce scholarships and funding (like work study) through the next few weeks (March).

If you want to save your spot at JHU and Emory before the Fullbright results, just pay your enrollment deposit. I would also email your program's admissions contact to ask if you can choose to defer even after you've paid the deposit.

Good luck!

The response I got from Harvard was:
"Most decisions are released between mid-February and mid-March. By March 15, applicants who have SOPHAS Verified applications should have a decision."

ahhh so tomorrow technically qualifies as "mid-February", whereas next week would be late February. I might be overreading it tho.
