Just got off the call with HSPH on the Admissions Info Session. I only had a few questions. Below are the responses.

1) Are all decisions released already?
- Not all decisions have been released. We release them once the faculty reviews and sends it to us. It is usually in batches.

2) I have heard that decisions come out only Thu, Fri and Mon with Thu - accept, Fri - wait, Mon-rejects. Is that true?
- We try not release decisions on Fridays because people might have technical problems. There is really not a process in place for this year and you can expect decisions other days as well besides T/F/M but it is not necessarily rolling on all days.

3) Anything else I should have asked that I did not?
- Decisions are being sent between Mid-Fed to Mid-Mar. Given that it's end of Feb, it is just a waiting game at this point and you should be hearing it soon.
- This year the admissions has been a little slow given the pandemic, and people are looking at public health in ways they did not before hence are interested and applying, but we are working as diligently as possible to get the decisions out.

Thank you so much for this! One clarifying question. On this part "you can expect decisions other days as well besides T/F/M but it is not necessarily rolling on all days." Does that mean you can expect to hear decisions on days other than Tuesday, Friday, and Monday? Aka decisions go out Wednesday and Thursday, Or am I reading that incorrectly.

Does this mean that not all *acceptances* are released? Or just decisions in general?

Thank you for asking that question. I wanted to put the comments before I forgot since I only took notes on major points but I recollect the conversation and it went like -

"You can expect decisions on other days besides T/F/M. It's whenever the applications reviewed and the batch sent to us from faculty. But that does not mean we release decisions on a rolling-basis everyday. It just depends on when we get the batch from faculty to be released."

Hope that makes sense.

I also will second this as a CU alum. It’s an incredible university and likely my top choice even with HSPS pending. Could I personally reach out about the stats re: outcomes and salaries? Very on the fence about switching careers with the salary discussions!
Definitely email the Office of Career Services and ask if they have more updated/detailed employment and salary info for recent grads. They have a lot of information on their website but they sent me more current data when I asked.

Just to piggyback on this (if helpful)... I just got off a zoom with admissions too and to my question "do decisions come out on a single day for each department?" they said no and that they send out decisions based on when faculty reviews them. For some programs (like the summer program) decisions are sent out earlier since they need a decision from the applicant fast but for Fall it's anywhere from now until mid-march. He didn't say anything specific about the 65 credit HBS program or the SM80 program :/

Unfortunately I got stuck at work and didn’t get to attend HSPH Admission Office Hours. Thanks @zubear for getting some intel though!

Anytime!!! That's why we are all here for.

Good question. I specifically asked -

Me - "Are all acceptances sent already for all programs."
Adcom - "Oh no. Not at all. The faculty is still reviewing the applications and will be making the decisions"
Yay, thank you so much for asking this! So THRILLED to hear it!!!

UCLA vs Yale
What're y'alls thoughts. I have only heard good things from Yale like their post-grad employment help and friendliness to students and nothing really about UCLA. They both accept the same amount of students each year ~20 for my program.

For those who heard back from HSPH, are we supposed to be getting an email about financial aid. Not just scholarships but loans, etc. Just want to make sure I totally didn't miss an email or message. Thank you, all.
Same question plus: Does anyone get scholarships at Harvard for MPH? Did those accompany the acceptances?

Everyone getting into Columbia while I sit here waiting to send them my winter grades in late March.................

I hope that means I get in if my grades are really good this term. They wont give me a decision until they get those grades.

Are you willing to lose your NYU deposit to go to Columbia?

Heard back from University of Michigan HPM program today as well as GW regarding scholarships! Received the Presidential Scholarship and First Gen Student Achievement Grant.

I won't be attending GW so I hope one of you deserving people receives this funding!! 🙂
I am currently waiting on funding for GW so thank you!! Goodluck with what program you choose!

First of all, thank you so much for this!! It really means a lot to all of us here. Can I just ask a follow up question about whether or not those people that submitted the application earlier gets the result earlier or it just doesn’t matter and is randomized? 🙏

When I asked if there was any method to the madness like FIFO or something based on application date, I do not think I got a detailed response to that except that there is no specific way they are going after the applications. I think the adcom was more focused on my question about Thu/Fri/Mon and coupled both questions with one response.

@ka786 Did you get to ask this question about any order the applications are reviewed?
