For people currently working in a full-time job, have you notified your boss yet that you're leaving for grad school in the fall? I haven't yet, and I'm wondering if that's a bad thing. I was planning to wait until after Apirl 15th once I've committed to a school.

Mine wrote a letter of recommendation for me and I told her that I was accepted/attending. I haven't said I'm officially leaving yet, just in case they want to push me out early for someone else. So I'm going the 2weeks Notice route.

Mine also wrote a letter of recommendation for me and I told her I was accepted. I applied to schools everywhere, including the city I’m in now. She urged me to move to a new city because she wishes she’d gone away when she went to grad school. I haven’t explicitly said I’m leaving in the summer because I was unsure of what fall will look like (virtual versus on campus). Some of my responsibilities can take months to complete and she’s alluded to what will happen/how she will take over if I’m not there to see it through. I work in the public sector so I’m not worried about being unfairly terminated or anything like that.

Fellow coworkers and the doctors I scribe for at the location I work in know I’ve applied to grad school, but my higher up supervisors don’t know. I plan on giving about a months notice but at this point I don’t even know yet when I’m leaving.

Are there any Emory accepted international student that got any scholarship or funding here? Since all of the scholarships had been given out, I don't think I have a chance to receive any finical aids.😢 Really struggling to decide whether having 140k in debt to pursue a MPH worth it...Does anyone here think writing a letter to the admissions asking for extra finical assistance would help?

Edit: 140k is the maximum cost. I had estimated the total cost(rent, insurance...)will be around 120k-140k. Still a lot though lol

Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone else has heard back from USC? I’ve sent a couple of emails but haven’t heard back. I just wanna know the timeline :/
I am also waiting for the decision from USC (MS Biostats). I submitted it on 12/1 (priority deadline).

My boss also wrote one of my rec letters lol so he knows I'm leaving this Fall. If everything is still virtual, I'll probably not even fully "quit" and just cut my hours down. But yeah I don't think it's a bad thing to let them know once you've decided! I think it's actually better as it gives them more notice. I would only worry about that if I was doing a terrible job at work and had a crap relationship with my boss (which thankfully I don't haha).

140k in debt!?? Not worth it all

Will today be the day that Harvard finally breaks its silence for me? 🤞🏼🤞🏼

seriously though it’s my last school and I would love to be able to make a decision

My boss only knows because she wrote one of my rec letters. I'm going to wait until I've officially committed and know the start date of the program to formally notify my boss that I'm leaving. The whole process is giving me anxiety though 😕

I work at a super small nonprofit where I am the #2 in charge, so I have been super open with them about my plans since about September because I did not want to screw them over come time for me to leave. It's been great though - my Executive Director wrote me a wonderful rec and I have been actively involved in hiring my replacement!

Like others have said, I haven’t notified my work place yet because I don’t even know when I’ll start school, or where I’ll be going yet. But I’m going to try and switch over to being part time once classes start.

I'm in a similar position! All of my projects will go beyond September, and while I plan on working casual hours when I go back to school, I won't be able to see the all the projects through. I want to give them ample time to hire and train someone, so I'll probably notify them once I commit and let them know exactly what date I plan on leaving so they have ample time to prepare

My boss knows in a more general sense that I'm applying and will likely be leaving but since I don't know specifics of where/when I'll be moving yet I haven't given official notice. I'll be needing to train some members of my team to do some of my tasks and potentially help with hiring a replacement so I'll probably give official notice about a month out.

Probably just going to commit to a school tbh if I don't hear back today

Full timer here! I have not notified my employers. As long as you give your office proper notice, and time (depending on your job this may differ), you should have no problem notifying after April 15 for an August program 🙂

Has anyone been able to squeeze any more money out of Yale after receiving scholarship information? I dream of going but I am pretty sure I will be 90k deep after receiving the degree.
I emailed Yale and received a reply that they do not adjust scholarship information after it's offered unfortunately

I'm an international student and I did get a scholarship from Emory. I'm still deciding between schools. I think appealing can never hurt, especially because there will be people who got scholarships who don't end up attending, and because they likely will also still have some other institutional funding available

Did anybody here get accepted to SM 80 Infectious Diseases Epidemiology program?

Anyone else attending the UW visit days today and tomorrow? 🙂

Sorry to see all the rejections 🙁 You all have amazing options so far though!

I don't see any changes on my portal so far. Anyone else still waiting on Harvard?
Also waiting on a decision.

Congrats on your acceptance and scholarship! I really appreciate your feedback and I will definitely give it a try to reach out for extra fundings.

It looks like Harvard tends to release a big batch around 10:40am EST on Thursdays. Do we know if they send anything else once they release a batch on a singular day?

I think we had a couple of waitlist posts on Friday... but traditionally they release waitlist and rejections the following Monday and Tuesday
