Oh no, I'm sorry! It's such a tough cycle but I'm sure you'll end up somewhere amazing 🙂I feel that! I applied Oct 1. and was waitlisted yesterday, slightly devastated.

Thanks so much!! Really helpful. I might try to switch to HCM since I won't lose my spot in SBS! I'm like 90% I'm going to commit to Yale either way.Hi! I just replied on page 166 about what I’ve heard 🙂
omg, I love Yale. and I love Jen.Jen said that scholarships won't change after we commit-- so even if you decide to switch departments, it's highly unlikely that your scholarship will change
Right!! But I would double check and confirm though just to be sure 🙂omg, I love Yale. and I love Jen.
Thanks, you too. I'm probably headed to NYU Law at this rate with the Hopkins 1-yr MPH. But I will ride the Columbia WL!Oh no, I'm sorry! It's such a tough cycle but I'm sure you'll end up somewhere amazing 🙂
Omg no way, that's exactly what I'm leaning towards doing. Hope to see you there! Thanks, you too. I'm probably headed to NYU Law at this rate with the Hopkins 1-yr MPH.
Holy moly! Let's connect!! What a small world.Omg no way, that's exactly what I'm leaning towards doing. Hope to see you there!
I applied for the MPH at Brown and received 35% off tuition in merit-based aid. I tried appealing since I got higher scholarships elsewhere but they said they are unable to match offers. They were super nice about it though and linked me to lots of resources about research assistantships, housing, etc.Hi all, anyone who got into Brown - what's been the highest financial aid/merit aid that y'all have received?
I applied for the dual degree (2/15) but have been told I might need to wait until sometime in April to get a response and with a MPA/MPH dual degree start in early June, I just am really unsure I have enough time to realistically move myself/transition within 2 months. I'm only waiting because it's a dual degree and on the off chance I get a better financial deal than I got from Yale but if it just doesn't seem possible, I may need to really reconsider Brown. Thanks!
That's what mine said too, I heard scholarships are separate but after weeks of waiting, I just assumed I wasn't getting any. They also said scholarships were "limited" this year which I was annoyed by bc they boast about giving out $11 million+ in scholarships. The cost is RIDICULOUS for out of state, I get that they're a good school but I can't justify paying over 3k per credit. Idk how they even justify that. So, I got my UMich financial statement and all I got were unsub federal loans. Is that it? Would scholarships be on this form? That out of state tuition number is so expensive, just can't do it. That is one expensive degree.
If you go to your personalized yale website, there's a section called student ambassadors which has contacts for current students in all the programs!Anyone have a health policy student contact at Yale? I really want to talk to someone in the program.
idk why i got super crazy fast responses [email protected]Anyone email Columbia's SPH financial aid office? How quickly do you get a response? Their automatic email told me within 24-48 hours, but it's been more than a week now, and I tried calling, but their voicemail is full (understandable). My Columbia financial aid portal is still saying that they're missing my FAFSA, but my FSA portal says that it was submitted to Columbia on 1/24/21. I'm just trying to confirm that they at least have my FAFSA 😭
Which program? I just applied in March for both and I got emails from both programs saying my applications are in review. Thank you!I heard back finally on Tuesday. I applied 11/27.

I e-mailed their financial aid office to confirm they have my FAFSA, and they replied the same day!Anyone email Columbia's SPH financial aid office? How quickly do you get a response? That is the maximum allowable loan an university can offer to a graduate student. The rest of it has to come up with private loans or begging and borrowing. 🙄can someone please explain to me how a program can cost $38k a year but the max loan offered is $33k? am i just dumb orrrrr lmao
Not yet. I remember an email saying their aid offers would be made the between March 29- April 2 though!Anybody hear back about financial aid from UW SPH (specifically epi) yet? I'm kinda disappointed I haven't gotten any offers yet, but I suppose there's still a month left.

Did they say anything about scholarships? I don't want to switch a lose my scholarship and it's one of the biggest reasons I'm choosing Yale (I wouldn't be able to afford to go to Yale otherwise).
Also, hmm, a different personal statement. Honestly, my personal statement could be well suited for the HCM program but I guess I'll change it a little, do you think that's ok? (when I was applying I was really conflicted between applying to HCM and SBS lol).
MPH students can borrow 33k without question each year. Afterwards they must rely on the Grad PLUS Loan which is unlimited (cant pass cost of tuition) and that requires a credit score check. otherwise it would be private loans. That is the maximum allowable loan an university can offer to a graduate student. You have obvious leadership and a caring heart in you.SDNers 2021 -
I officially committed to Yale today!
I have met so many amazing people here, with life-altering experiences and stories that really made me humble myself. I also continue to see relentless passion in all of you, to go change the world.
Mine is nothing like that, I am just a "average joe". Having spent some time in the business world realized that someone has to tell the c-suite that people's health is as important as the paycheck one gets, if not more. I am ardently hoping that that "someone" would be me.
While I aspire to change the way business leaders think, if I am able to at least just nudge them in the right direction, I think I would have done my part.
The world of public health is small, I am confident that we will bump into each other sometime in the future.
After all, our paths may be different, but our purpose is the same.
Will miss you all!!!
Z.
After labor dayAnyone know the exact date Columbia's program starts in August 2021?
MPH or MS?Got into UCLA Epidemiology just now but committed to SDSU Epi. Didn't expect such a surprise decision 😃. Will decline UCLA this weekend. I don't know if it is a bad decision but sticking to SDSU.
MPHMPH or MS?
So you can switch from SBS to health policy easily first semester in the mph two year program without a new statement of purpose?I spoke to Mary earlier about changing concentrations. She said it's easy to change and apparently, many students in the 2-year program do that early on with no issues, once they get a flavor for public health and get to discover their interests more. And you will not lose the scholarship for changing departments.

How do you apply to research assistanceshipsI applied for the MPH at Brown and received 35% off tuition in merit-based aid. Pls lmk too!Anyone who got into UCI know if there is an accepted students page somewhere?
