MPH / MSPH 2022: Applied, Accepted, Waitlisted, Rejected, Attending

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For those hearing back from Columbia today was it through email or your portal?

People who got into Columbia, did you receive an email previously that your application was "under review"? Or just that it was complete with the link to the portal?

I applied on 11/30 but for the Accelerated MPH in General Public Health, so no association to a specific department. My application has been 'complete' from 12/1 -- it says so when you log into the portal. Just checked and it still says under review and that a decision hasn't been reached yet... I wonder how to interpret this...

“All materials have been received and your application is now complete. At this time no additional information or documentation is required. When the committee has reached their admissions decision you will be notified through email.” — sorry my bad. I see the above.

If they are sending decisions out on a single day (which seems like they do) I would have expected us to receive a decision even if it was a waitlist or a rejection?

I know last year's decisions came out in batches from the last week of January through early March, so don't despair!!

Yep I just did a search and realised the same so 🙏🏼

when did you apply, is there a portal for UPenn?
I applied 10/26, received an email that my application was under review on 11/23, received an invitation to interview on 12/20, interviewed 1/20, and was accepted today via email. I don't think UPenn has a portal

Has anyone heard from Yale yet? I received a email ‘YSPH Application Complete’ and it says my application is now under review. How long does review take?

I have been under review since early November. It really depends on department as I’ve seen some have a week turn around while others have heard nothing.

Congrats!! May I ask when you applied?
hi! I applied in September, got an email that my application was received on 10/15 and literally hadn't heard from them at all until today! They let me know that my portal had an update.

Accepted to Columbia SMS today!!

Accepted to Columbia's accelerated MPH in HPM!!! Heard absolutely nothing from them since their "application received" email on 12/1 (no app complete email, no interview invite) so if you're applying/reading this next year and freaking out, there's still hope for you!

columbia people - are financial aid packages sent out with admissions or do we get them later?

So apparently in my application for Columbia, on my GRE unofficial score report it shows my old score as well as the score I chose to send. I did pretty well the second time I took it but my first try was like 12 points lower rip. Columbia doesn't look at both scores right, they only consider the score you officially chose to send them? I'm stressed nowT_T

Have an interview with UW today, have no idea whether they ask cliche questions like what are your strengths, etc. Any tips? Quite nervous right now :/

Good luck! Let us know how it goes. I didn't even know UW did interviews... I haven't been invited for one so hopefully this is a good sign for you 🙂

Thank you! They said they will be done with the interviews by the end of january. My interview went well actually until I realized I misunderstood one of the questions (was too excited and yeah international student :/). They asked why i chose this specific program and i understood it as why i chose this field and responded according to it. Do you think that would affect their decision because even though i mentioned the professors i wanna work with it wasn’t enough to elaborate why i chose UW specifically:/

I think it's good that you mentioned the professors! If you think it went well overall, I'm sure they thought so too 🙂

Congratulations! It sounds like/I hope it went well! Which department did you apply to?

Has anyone heard from Yale yet? I received a email ‘YSPH Application Complete’ and it says my application is now under review. How long does review take?

I got an email saying I was under review on the 1/7, and got notification of acceptance on 1/19 with financial aid offered on 1/26. Seems like a crapshoot to me considering I applied on 12/1 and wasn't verified until 12/15.

I was verified on 12/14 and received the 'received by YSPH' email on 12/16. Nothing since - I emailed them yesterday but they told me they 'are working through the process of reviewing applications to confirm they are complete as soon as possible' and that there is nothing more they can share at this stage. Still seems pretty arbitrary to me considering others' timelines...

Edit: just received the application complete email (1/28)

For people admitted to Columbia, do you have a video when you enter portal?

What do you mean by additional link? Where is it?
A link to view your decision letter should appear at the top of the portal after receiving an email saying “A decision has been posted to your application status page.”

I got a interview with UPenn. Anyone happy to share your experience or tips? Thanks!
Hi! The overall theme of the interview is going to be (why are you pursuing a graduate degree straight after undergrad, if that's your case of course). There will be a lot of emphasis on why you want to pursue an MPH degree and how it is going to help you realize your both short-term and long-term goals. You have to be very precise about outlining your path for them. There will be 2 people interviewing you. Good luck!

my interview was with 2 people, they were both really nice and friendly. The questions I got were why public health? Why an MPH and what do you want to do with it? and why Penn? Looking at last years forum I think these are their typical questions. Good luck!!

Hi everyone. I just made an account & I'm new to the forum. I've been reading all the comments, and you all are very helpful.
