Ugh. I called NSUCOM today to try and meet with an admissions advisor. My GPA is so bleh..I want to know what they suggest I do (go ahead and apply, take some more upper division level science classes, grad school etc) Especially since NSUCOM is my first choice, I want to do w.e they think is best..
But alas, the woman I was referred to never called me back. Do you guys think it would be unorthodox to just go there with transcript in hand??
Your stats look quite strong. A steep uptrend in GPA and a high MCAT score are always helpful. I'm also applying there and keeping my fingers crosses. Is it true that this is considered one of the more competitive DO schools? Hope my stats are good enough.I'm in that same boat!
I'm a non trad student, I have low cumulative gpas(3.2/3.0s) bc I didn't take undergrad very seriously and had a super hard major (physics) But ....I have a master's in modern languages (gpa 3.65), 23 post grad science course work (3.85), and a 34M mcat (14b, 12p, 8v)..
So I hope they look past our gpas and shows us some love for our mcats!
Good luck to everyone!

That's encouraging to know! How has your experience been with the school? Anything expected/unexpected? Are their essays on the secondaryFrom my experience as a new OMS-3, NSUCOM seems to like and embrace non-traditional students. You should do fine. I was a non-trad with stats not as impressive as yours, and I got in. Best of luck to you!
Also, best of luck to everyone who is applying!

Yeah your stats looks great. The only thing that may slow you down is the Canadian thing, it is hard for any Canadian to get into a US school. You should do just fine. Nice MCAT score and grad GPA btw.

Based on last year's thread, secondaries went out through email on June 23. That falls on a Saturday this year so I'm guessing they will go out around the 22 or 25 of this month.![]()
Yeah, my bad. I meant to put this in the 2011-2012 thread. Thanks for the heads up though. Best of luck in the application process. Message me if you have any Q's.Geez bro... Hitting up this thread a bit early huh? I mean we just sent in our apps... I like your initiative I will look you up if I go to school here...
That early??? Awesome! I was expecting mid-July! Thank you for this nice little piece of information.
I am still waiting for AACOMAS to release my stuff... It is taking them awhile on my last transcript.... meh... still lots of time.... No worries...
Is anyone able to view their profiles on AACOMAS? When I click on the view button next to the release date, a message comes up saying "sorry could not find file at this time".
I like this school a lot. I read that you need a "liberal arts professor" LOR on their website (assuming your school doesn't do committee letters) and my non-science letter is from a psychology professor. I hope that counts. Maybe I'm just being neurotic?
Also, most of my letters were written this time 2011, except my D.O. letter. I hope that doesn't matter either, but I'm non-trad and I wanted to get letters when my professors still had interacted with me recently (also considered applying DO last year, but never did)
What College is the Psych Dept in? If it is in the CoLA, then you should be good to go.
Well, it's in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. So I don't know. My degree is in psychology and it's a B.S., but this letter was counted as non-science for the few MD programs I had started applying to last cycle.
On the website, it says you need to have at least a 2.0 in all courses. What if you have less than 2.0 in inorganic chem 1 but a higher mark in inorganic chem 2 and the average for "a year of inorganic chem" is above 2.0...is that still fine?
Thanks!

No it is not ok. You will be rejected if you don't retake that course. Who the hell let you take Chem 2 after you got a D in chem 1
Good question, but it could have been a C- and not a D.
