Nova Southeastern Univ (NSU-COM) Discussion Thread 2014 - 2015

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I've been complete since end of June, basically. and still nothing. I don't know if I should be concerned or not. I'm IS btw

9/16 interview. Just booked my tickets! Will be staying at the Hampton Inn in Plantation Florida. My plane arrives at FLL at 10AM on 9/15 so hopefully they can accommodate me an early check in. Anyone else also staying at the Hampton Inn down to hang out?!

Ps. Apparently holiday inn express cannot guarantee shuttle to Nova campus so be aware!

Hey fargo, how much did Hampton Inn cost with the Nova discount?

Nice! Thanks. Did you happen to check out how much the other suggested hotels are?
They were all around the $85-95 price range. It seemed like the suggested hotels were all a bit pricy overall. But out of the few hotels I called, Hampton was the only to tell me they guarantee shuttle service to nova and airport.

If you are renting a car, there will be much more lower priced hotels around Plantation or Davie area for sure!

Or you could go in the other direction and stay at the hard rock 😛

Is anyone seeing available interview dates via their links online? I was unable to make the only dates open for me. I called the school and after 15 minutes spent being transferred from one person to the next, I guess I'm not interviewing here.

To clarify, each person tells me to keep checking my interview link. I was invited about 2 weeks ago and have been doing this, but no dates other than the original ones offered for me are being shown as open. The only open date I see now is November 4th.

complete since june. florida resident. any florida residents get interviews? was told they started with out of state
I was complete July 25 or so, and got an invite in the first wave last week. Funny thing was tho, I only had the last two weeks of Oct to 1st week of Nov as options. I wonder if there is a priority score.

Okay, I went back and looked I got an invite Aug 27th. So that was my timeline

It's definitely based off how soon you got the II. I received my II email in mid August and the dates offered for me were early sept.

Did you guys get emails about II, or did it just come up on webstar? Just asking because I never received an email from CCOM, but got an interview request on their portal.

You will get an email containing the link to access the site to schedule interview. Webstar is only used to check on the receiving of your materials!

Anybody know or heard of how many people are interviewing per date?

Maybe I was in the second wave after all, I checked the date, and I got an II Aug 27, so thats probably why I was looking at Oct24+ for interview days.

Ah. I was originally scheduled for a later date in october too but I kept checking the server for any cancelation and one day came across one for 9/16 so i grab it ASAP haha

so you guys that got interviews, you didn't send in your transcripts correct? Noticed this was talked about earlier this thread.

See below:

Official transcripts are always required prior to matriculation and only after acceptance.

This is also stated on the website here:

Transcripts
After acceptance, final official transcripts, covering all of the applicant's course work with degrees, must be forwarded to the Office of Admissions prior to matriculation. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that arrangements are made for these transcripts to be sent.

Interview 10/14!! I had tried signing up for 10/7 and it seems they sent simultaneous invitations out at once and that date was full in the five minutes I was checking flight prices!

Has anyone with a fee waiver received their $50 refund yet? I submitted the secondary late June and still nothing.

I haven't received it yet either. However, in the fee waiver email from the school, it said that we will receive a credit and then we can contact the bursar's office to see when we will receive the refund. I imagine they are crazy busy right now, so I'm not too worried about the refund at the moment.

Since it seems I was silently rejected I emailed them about the fee waiver refund last week. I still have not gotten a response and will call them sometime next week if I still have not heard anything.

I only saw dates available on Thursdays. Curious as to how you received a Tuesdayinterview

Been verified since Thursday, but haven't received any secondaries from this school (or any other DO school I applied to.) Should I be worried?

Does anyone know if they for sure send out decisions, or is it possible to be silently rejected from this school? I have been complete since July 1 but it's still early in the cycle. Lower than average stats.

I sent my application in at the end of June and still haven't gotten an interview invite yet (Or a denial). Im an in state student and my stats aint too shabby. A little worried to be honest.... anyone else in the same boat? (I've had three other invites, so maybe that's why I'm nervous, also this is one of my top choices)

I'm in state, decent stats, extraordinary research and extracurriculars and also have other invites. Complete since June 17th according to my WebStar. I called today and they said my actual complete date was June 30th. I think the turn around time to hear back after being complete, in general, is 6-8 weeks. The guy I talked to on the phone was really rude and just told me to check Webstar instead of calling and be patient.

Kind of freaking out, but I feel like we should hear back within 2-3 weeks.

Not really sure how checking Webstar would help because I received an II and it doesn't say it on Webstar at all.

Called earlier today to check my status since I've been complete since late June and haven't heard anything. The HPD admissions rep told me that my file was still under review and that the admissions committee is still working to go through the large number of apps. Apparently the D.O degree is "highly sought after"...who would've knew 😛

I am in the same boat as far as not hearing anything since late June. Your post prompted me to check Webstar, which under requirements has a trascript heading with no recieved date obviously since I didn't send my transcripts to them. Everything else has a recieved date and I recieved the complete phone call two months ago.

I guess I was just curious if everyone had this on their webstar or what was going on here. Would be nice to hear something but Goodluck to all with interviews!

Just wanted to share my experience, because I emailed Nova a couple of weeks ago saying I would be in the area at the end of October/beginning of November (visiting family nearby during that time) and they responded about five days later with an II and a follow-up email making sure I got the interview invite. So I guess they are responsive to "in the area" emails, for what it's worth

I have a feeling a lot of SDNers are about to be "in the area" soon
