If I haven't gotten an interview yet, should I be concerned? I have 3.7 GPA, 29 MCAT, as well as a lot of clinical experience and experience with osteopathic physicians. Those of you who got invites, do you have similar or better stats? I was complete in late November

+1. Virtually identical stats and nothing but crickets on my end

can anyone who was recently accepted here dm me and throw me some pointers on school specific stuff you talked about during your interview when they asked you "why nova" got my interview coming up in late feb and I wanna be really prepared for it since its so late haha

They honestly didn't ask me much. We talked a bit about my first year and why I didn't do so well. What is my passion in general. And what I learned from my mistakes in first year and how that will transfer into medical school.

There are two people usually interviewing you. One may come off attacking but don't let it get to you. Be positive and reinforce any hesitant that they show.

Goodluck!

You were complete pretty late. I was complete Aug 1 and got interview in mid Oct. So give it some time. You probably will hear back by early Feb!

They didn't ask that in my case surprisingly. The best advice I can give you is know your application extremely well. It will be open book with all of your information there for them to scrutinize. Have answers prepared for areas where you may have performed poorly or struggled. Be ready to elaborate on extra curricular activities that you have on your application. The first question that they will ask you is something along the lines of "tell me about yourself" so be ready to talk about stuff that isn't on your application as well, that is more personal. In the orientation before the interviews, there is an ice breaker where you say your name, major and a fun fact. If you want to be super gunner you can have a good fun fact prepared. Overall the interview is pretty chill though.

For those of you that have already been accepted and are attending, how early are you guys moving down to Fort Lauderdale? I think I will move down there a solid month early to get settled in. Starting the apartment hunt in the next month or two 😛

I was thinking of moving in a week before. I don't think you need a month to get settled in. Are you thinking of off campus housing? or graduate dorms?

dude nova is in the coolest neighbhorhood out of any osteopathic school in the country!
move your tushy there tommorow. Start building a life there now, enjoy the sun, get a boat and learn to fish for grouper on a hangover for 5 months lol

Any current students want to comment on if they have enjoyed NOVA? I have heard first year classes are dicey. Are you happy with your choice in choosing NOVA? Ect. Thank you!

I'm definitely leaning towards off campus housing for a couple reasons. The rules regarding noise, over night guests, etc are a lot more lax off campus. It is probably also cheaper and gives you more flexibility (whereas with on campus housing you are stuck there for the year after you make the payment). I haven't really looked at apartments in the area though, maybe a current student can give some insight.

I live off campus. What I did was I found a realtor and he gave me access to a website that had a whole bunch of listings in the area. If I liked one, we went to go check it out together. Location is obviously the key. Avoid having to drive down University drive if you can as it gets very congested.

If you do decide on living off campus, Make your decisions fast in choosing a place, especially as you get closer to start of classes. I remember seeing some places in the evening and they were gone the next day. And also, never ever trust the pictures. The place may look good but it may also be in a bad neighborhood in Davie.

Edit: also I think 1-3 weeks is probably the most you'll need to get adjusted. More than that and you'll be really really bored since no one else will be down.

I'm currently a 4th year at Nova. First year is pretty tough. However, first year of medical school anywhere is tough. You have to adjust to taking almost 30 credit hours in one semester. You will get what you put into it. I have no regrets going to nova. Every year gets better and I felt well prepared going into clinical rotations third and fourth year. Best of luck with becoming a doctor!

Any suggestions as to which off campus housing are preferred/better?

Thanks!

Hi there, I have a morning interview session (8:15am) coming up. I thought that the day concludes at 12:30pm but I am hearing mixed info. Could someone please confirm this? Thanks!

If you want to walk to school centre at Davie is across the street. I lived there when it was called sunforrest. Most kids in my class lived at signature which was a 5 min car ride. Signature was nicer but sunforrest is more convenient.

To all those who were accepted thus far.
When were your deposits due by???
We're they the standard January 8th or later?

My initial deposit was due in mid Dec and second deposit due in March. It all depends when you get accepted. They usually give you 1.5 month for initial deposit.

The day usually ends about 230 pm

Alright just trying to figure out if they got their first batch of people who declined their acceptance yet

Really nervous about my odds here since my interview is so late in february.
But I mean they did start interviewing 2 months later than normal this year

Don't even worry about that. If they are interviewing you, then there are spots left. Just make a solid good first impression and know your application well. Chances are they are going to ask a lot about your application. You got this!

Anyone know what the next steps are after submitting the deposit? I submitted mine back in December so I'm just trying to figure out when the school contacts us and what other forms we need to fill out.

Unless It's changed from last year, there's not much to do. The majority of the forms and requirements you need to do are sent out in the beginning of summer.

If you really want to do something to stay busy, I would say make sure you have your immunizations taken care of. I think we had a couple of people who didn't have them done before school started and had to defer.

Did you get any conformation e-mail regarding them holding your seat except for the receipt of deposit? I didn't.. Just the receipt. I also emailed them the Intent to Enroll, Dress Policy and Technical Standards form.

Thanks for the info, I guess nothing I can do until summer then.

I only got the receipt as well. But when I emailed the Intent to Enroll etc. I got a confirmation back that they received it. Also the online admissions webstar portal shows that they received my deposit.

I applied to this school like 4 months ago. Lol, nothing but silence. But I just want to get rejected already (will not attend interview even if offered one).

NSU-COM, VCOM, and CCOM have had absolute **** communication.
Although, AZCOM has been good. Whats the issue CCOM?!

I enjoyed NOVA so much I turned them down for a couple MD acceptances 🙂.

I just got called for an II for the interview tomorrow!!! I'm screaming inside I'm so happy. This gives my long time boyfriend and I a chance to possibly attend the same med school since he is also interviewing tomorrow:clap:

Congrats! When were you complete and your stats if you don't mind? Also, are you IS or OOS?

you can email admissions and rescind your application, that way they won't be reviewing applicants that don't want anything to do with the school and instead can focus on applicants that want to interview and go there

Okay. I will definitely do that. Thank you 🙂 I was wondering how to do it since they don't really have an application portal.

Any past interviewers know where we are supposed to park tomorrow for the interview?

What specifics to the D.O. program at nsucom makes it stand out?
In short: large class size compared to most med schools, externships in m1 year, some clinically oriented classes, and a pretty good opp department in my opinion.

These are just some of the things that came to my mind that make it unique compared to the other med schools.

This school impressed me immensely on interview day yesterday. Nice faculty and students that support eachother and so many opportunities with this school that I didn't even know existed. Literally only one con can come to mind about this school and that's tuition price. Although I've put down a deposit with LECOM, I will definitely have to reevaluate if I am accepted here. Super impressive university that I would really enjoy attending🙂 Anyone who is unsure on attending an interview here should definitely go!
