Does this school give silent rejections? I have been complete since October and have not heard anything.

I sent a thank you email to everyone that interviewed me as well as to dean Walllace. I don't really think it makes a difference, but it's a nice thing to do. What was kind of cool was that dean Wallace actually replied to my email! She answered some of the questions I had about Nova's future goals on the globalization of osteopathic medicine that I asked in the thank you letter. I thought that was something she definitely wasn't obligated to do but took the time to do anyway, and was also a reason I will be attending NSU this fall 😛

Thanks! I've been waiting since July for my invite, which finally came two days ago! Nova is absolutely where I want to go, and I so desperately want to do everything I can to make sure I get in! I'm so excited to interview.

That's awesome, I hope your interview goes well xD Nova has a high acceptance post-interview so you are in a good spot right now. The interview day is actually pretty fun and they have cookies while you wait to be interviewed.

Edit: try the biscuits in the jars and stuff some for the road.

Submitted my secondary yesterday. A little late but I'm still hoping to get some love from NSU!
 
Does anyone know Nova's average step 1 scores from the past year or two or so? I can't find them anywhere. Maybe a current student knows?

Nova doesn't have an average step 1 score because we aren't required to take it. They also don't give us our level 1 score class average. I'm a 4th year and I didn't hear of anyone in my class failing level 1. I know some people got as high as 750/800 which is amazing. People also did really well on the step 1. That is more dependent on you though and not Nova. They will give you a solid knowledge foundation but it's up to you to study your butt off for the comlex and usmle

Thanks for the reply! Yes I definitely agree the scores mostly reside on you but it is nice to know some average scores of the class haha but oh well. Those 750/800 scores are pretty dang high though - definitely a score to shoot for!

Current first year. The first semester was definitely an adjustment, just because of how frequently we had exams. We had physio and micro at the same time, which I think is one of the major reasons it was so hard to get a routine down, because we were always cramming for the next major exam. Having anatomy first semester like you guys will be an enormous help all around. I am happy that I came here. Of course there have been a lot of changes having a new Dean and some glitches with figuring out how her administration works, but all in all I do feel like we have the resources to do well with tutoring, reviews, study tables, etc, and some of our professors are amazing (Dr. Dribin, Dr. Boesler) and they make their lectures fun. Living in Davie (I live right across the street at Centro) with any store or restaurant we could want so close by has been a huge godsend. My significant other, who is a nurse, moved down here with me and he had no problem finding a job because there are so many hospitals around. It is easy to have a work-life balance here if that's the kind of lifestyle that you want. The school is expensive, but that can be said of most DO schools. Hope that helps. I live at Centro, right across the street. It's awesome to be able to get up and walk to school in less than 5 minutes, especially considering that I'm someone who prefers to do lectures at home and have to be dragged out of bed to go to class a lot of the time. The community is pretty and the maintenance staff respond to issues quickly. The management at Centro is formal and not always that helpful, but that's no different than any other residential company. There is a Walgreens, restaurants, and a solid little bar (Falcon Pub) in walking distance of Centro, which has been convenient when we wanted to get out and relax after exams. We actually moved down here from the upper Northeast in May 2014 to have several months to relax and get used to the area before school. It was fun to spend the summer going snorkeling and driving 3 hours to Key West and Orlando, because those are things we haven't had time for since school started. It's also really convenient to get to the airport (less than 15 minutes), which has made weekend trips back to the North a lot easier.

We have friends who live at Signature and the apartments are a little nicer, but I wouldn't trade the drive. I know people currently living at Signature who are trying to move to Centro because there can be a lot of traffic coming into the HPD. Centro is a garden-community, with all of the apartments situated around big lakes with walking paths, which is awesome if you have a dog. Signature is more "city-like" with a bunch of apartment buildings and parking lots. Palm Trace Landings is right near Signature and has a similar garden-community style as Centro, but is way sketchier.

It really comes down to what you're looking for and what you're willing to spend. Centro almost feels like I live on campus sometimes, just because there are so many people in different colored scrubs walking to and from the school constantly. I can see how it would be nice to be further away and feel like I could escape campus sometimes, but I hate the traffic here and don't want to have to drive to campus.
 
did anyone call or send a letter of intent/interest before receiving an II?
 
OOS II here last week for mid-Feb, complete end of September. Excited to check this school out! Anyone know how full the class is at this point?
 
When's week of orientation? What day does school start? I'm telling everyone I'm going to med school in August, but I'm just guessing..:scared:

Expect it to be the first week of August as ours was but you won't know for sure until I believe May/June.

Forgot to post but I received an II about 2 weeks ago via phone. Just in case any of you were wondering about timelines...I have been complete since mid July. I turned it down due to having already accepted a seat at another school. Hope my interview slot goes to one of you...good luck.
 
Finally got an II. Received a phone call! Congrats to everyone that has already been accepted, received an II, been waitlisted, and everything else!

The best way in my opinion would be to post in the COM Class of 2020 Facebook page. There's also a NSU roommate finder Facebook group that you can use.

It's still a little early though so you may not get any responses back.

I do not think this is possible. I believe Fl has a law that states that if you are living in the state but taking classes at a school, it will not count toward gaining in-state status. For you to gain in-state status, you would have to live in Fl for one calendar year without taking any form of schooling.
 
Yeah u have to be a Florida resident 10 montha before matriculation into school.
 
I checked my portal and it seems that they haven't done anything with my application. Shame...

To be honest, I don't know. It's been weeks since I've checked the portal but I sign on today and everything was as I left it. Would have expected some changes in the status by now.

Just got an interview invite via email today. Random, caught me off guard completely. Def excited but need to weigh things in this decision, as per my acceptance at LECOM-erie. Blessed with options though, I'll say that.

Congratulations! It typically ends around 3 but my interview day we had a mixup with the tour so we didn't end until more around 4. A few people had to miss the campus tour due to flight times.

My interview day ended at around 3:30 PM, and the admissions counselors are very accommodating if you have to leave early to catch a flight.
