Anyone know if the non-science LOR is a strictly held requirement? My last non-science class was like 4 years ago and I don't think I have any way of contacting them or even remembering me.
 
My non-science was from an online psych class....Do you have any soft sciences you could get one from?

No you can use a supervisor LOR but you need approval from admissions first

I took an online literature course in 2014, which is my most recent non-science class. I never met the professor though.
Do you think they would accept Astronomy as a non-science LOR? The professor who taught me that class was also my Physics professor though.
Argghh this sucks, I doubt any of my non-science professors remember me from 5+ years ago.
 
@Mr. D.O.five I would call them. They seem to be more available over the phone. I tried e-mailing them twice with no response but when I called I was able to speak to someone who confirmed that all my materials were in. I think that if you explain your situation they would be willing to waive that requirement or substitute another letter in place of it. Good luck.
 
So I submitted my secondary on 9/1 and am looking at my portal. It now randomly says that they received LORs and my MCAT yesterday (even though AACOMAS has had them for months now). Does this mean anything? Or does it usually take about a month for them to confirm they received these documents? I'm really hoping this is foreshadowing an II =/.
 
It takes forever (mine was over a month and I received atleast five phone calls from them in which I explained I had submitted everything) for them to confirm they received the documents

Hey guys! Hope your interview season is going well. I posted earlier in this thread, but I figured I would say it again. If you guys have any questions regarding nova, feel free to shoot me a PM. I'm currently an M1.

P.S. I will not answer specific questions on what the interviewers ask. All I can say is to know your application well and pretty much all of the other things previously mentioned in this thread.

Thanks! I live 5 minutes away from the university so I think I'm just gonna waltz over to the admission office and introduce myself!
 
Has anyone who interviewed on 9/8 heard anything from nova?

I don't believe so. But I can tell you one thing. I have considered every option from they are just late, to nobody from our group who is also on SDN got in.
 
ok I applied to this school pretty early in July. I still haven't received any news on my application. What gives?

Kind of makes me wonder if I had finished my app and supporting letters much earlier tho I don't think they need letters necessarily until after interview invite right?

What is the usual timeline to hear back a secondary and II?

2 weeks for a secondary. I submitted my primary a couple weeks ago. Shouldn't be too late if your stats are decent.

Thank you for the quick reply. Truth be told, my stats are below average. Even though I am from FL, with a MCAT below 500 I thought why waste money applying. But I was accepted to LECOM-SH recently, and today a very well respected physician in FL encouraged me to apply to NOVA. I thought, what the hell--I didn't expect to get this far lol...

How is your GPA? The MCAT average at NOVA is hovers around 501-503 (based on what the incoming students told me), so I think you actually may be at a disadvantage. It's definitely not near 505 (which is CCOM's average per updated catalog). I know a couple people who have gotten in with sub 500, but only 2 points at most and they had EC's and GPA to counteract the low MCAT.

GPAs are around 3.44. My ECs, PS, and LORs (my strongest aspect) are actually pretty good. I think they are top quality considering my acceptance at LECOM-SH, but again it is hard for me to stay objective since I waived my right.

Dang I had no idea NOVA hovers around a 502, I feel really stupid for not applying back in July. By virtue of being already October puts me at a disadvantage (sending in my apps early certainly played towards receiving my IIs from LECOM and BCOM). However, in my mind, and I could be incorrect, I viewed LECOM-B and NOVA is top tier schools and since I was rejected by LECOM-B, my chances at NOVA are slim to begin with.

I believe my app's PS, LORs, etc. could generate enough interest for an II and I know I interview fairly well too. Anyways, I don't have much time to ponder the what ifs, I start scribing this week!

I don't the the official average, but talking to some of the OMS1 students that's what they gave me. If anyone has hard proof of the average, please post!


As for your competitiveness, I'd say you are a lot less competitive due to the kind of low GPA and the very low MCAT. I'd say apply anyways, but only because you are an FL resident. If you'd rather save money and apply to a school with better shot, I'd suggest that over the former.

Totally agree. I don't want to invite too much interest, but I learned today that I have a connection to NOVA that may allow me an advantage above a normal applicant. That is honestly another factor. If it were not for this recent development, I wouldn't even bother.

Anyways, let's see what happens!
 
im interviewing next week, im sure this has been talked about in this thread but can anyone provide insight on the interview format? mmi? types of questions etc thanks! 🙂
 
Is there any difference between "pending" and a flat out rejection or are they just trying to be nice in their rejections and only using pending?

They sent out a big chunk of post AND PRE II rejections in August and September so no news is good news

But I got news like a letter in the mail that says your application is still pending thats all it really said though, thoughts?

It's better than a rejection . You might wanna have a seat because it's gonna be a long application cycle (for all of us)

I got the same letter today. What a weird letter!
 
Does anyone know if there is an online portal for us to check our status? I haven't heard anything since my complete e-mail forever ago 🙁
