seems like a lot of people who interviewed in the new year (2009) have been placed on the alternate list... so im guessing not a lot.
That's frustrating... I'm still waiting to hear back since the secondary... I need some answers!!! 😕

FYI: about 280 people on the official "Class of 2013" Group now through NSU. Obviously not everyone on there will be attending. But it is getting very full.
I wouldnt expect to see many more acceptances until after March 15th. (When the next deposit is due) They cant really accept more people until some drop out.
it seems there are hundreds of us alternates
What I don't understand is that it seems there are hundreds of us alternates, and they said we're not ranked. I can't imagine the admissions committee meets to carefully discuss every single application for each spot. I could very well be wrong, but I would imagine that they would have some sort of internal ranking scheme.
If you receive an interview, is it an invitation by email, or does it only appear on webstar?
I spoke to a current dean of admissions this past year. She said dont believe schools when they say they dont screen you for GPA/MCAT or that they dont rank you after waitlist. She said EVERY school has some sort of internal system, even if they never announce it publicly.

Hey all...I finally figured out how to add nova email to your iPhone!! I hope you see this post linkDO! Anyway, here is a step-by-step guide to do it.
hey does anyone know nova's school code that is used for the fafsa? Thanks!
They don't arbitrarily pull people off the waitlist. After interviews have all been conducted, they review files from the first waitlisted individual to the last. They do them in bunches like they would do for an interview group. In this way, you are ranked and compared to other waitlisted individuals.I'd have to agree. They cant just arbitrarily pull people off the waitlist. There has to be some sort of order, based off scores, date interviewed, intent to matriculate, etc.
Yes, there is a Barnes and Nobles ~2miles away from campus near the mall. Many students venture there to study. Alternatives are Starbucks, Panera Bread, Dunkin Donuts, etc. People usually convene where there is free Wi-Fi.Question
Are there any Barnes and Noble cafes around NSU? Because I spend the bulk of my time studying in cafes and I'm thinking of getting their membership card.
im kinda upset i flew out to florida to interview for a waitlist spot

Hey I am sorry I am sure this is posted some where on this thread, but does anyone know what the link is to the Facebook Nova Class of 2013?
I have pretty much decided on Nova. Such a relief! 🙂
Good luck to those still waiting, your time will come!
Two years ago, it was a week after March 15 that students were allotted positions within the class. Thanks for letting us know how it works.
Do you have any idea how long after March 15 it was before Waitlisters started to be offered spots in your year?
Sorry for the annoying question, but I'm just really curious if it takes them a few weeks or a few months - I wouldn't be surprised either way.
Does anyone know of any available financial aid in NSU?
Since you are considered independent on the FAFSA, parental information is not needed and is not necessary for getting your private and public loans from the government. Parental information is only needed if you were to obtain loans from the school, which is infrequent. Actually, I've never heard of someone getting one of those.I remember them saying a large percentage of their COM students receive financial aid, but as for which particular funds, I am not sure (although I hear a lot has to do with your FAFSA.)
Speaking of which, does anyone know if we have to include parental information on our FAFSA to be considered for funds at NSU? According to FAFSA, I am an "independent" so I didn't include parental info, and I can't find anything regarding this on Nova's Financial Aid page.
I'm still planning on going to NSU, unless one of my waitlists pans out then I will have some deciding to do. I still haven't heard from like 17 schools, but at this point I assume that means I have been rejected. Also boo to multiple large deposits. ;/anyone looking at different schools still? march 15 deposit is coming up and just wondering what everyone's thoughts are.
im still ~95% going to NSU. only reason i wouldnt is pending on my girlfriend.
Just curious, does anyone have the applied/interviewed/accepted breakdown for NSU-Com?
So, I interviewed today. I stopped by yesterday to check out the school and actually wasn't impressed much when I was checking it out by myself (kinda of late in the day though). I must say, though, that when there are actual people in the campus the place is definately more lively. I am still a little concerned about study space considering the seemingly small size of the library and the amount of people that are actually in the health science programs there.
Good luck everyone!
Congrats on having your interview today. You were probably touring with Russ or Jackie. You'll find the answer to your main question either in this forum or last year's forum because I remember viewing the breakdown. Based on years past, interviewing at this point in the cycle may lead to a waitlist spot. The movement on the waitlist or alternate list varies year to year, but not everyone on the waitlist or alternate list is granted a place in the class. Unless KCOM has a short list or many students decline their acceptances, I doubt that everyone gets offered a position. That massive library also lacks things like the reserve books for the medical school (in case you need one). It's also nice to be able to study around people in your class in case you need to bounce a question or two off of someone, which is kinda of hard to do if the bulk of the community is studying in one location, and you're in another. Finally, the general consensus doesn't answer my question. For example, I know that I interviewed for a wait list spot at KCOM, Of course everyone was taken off the wait list last year at KCOM.
Live and let live.I think you're bitching about minutiae. And who said everyone congregated at the HPD library?
If you're not impressed with the school then withdraw your application.

I'm not sure if it's one, the other, or both, but KCOM taking their entire 'wait list' [accepted pending space] is straight from the admissions office. Thanks for the information also.
I would be cautious either way, especially if its coming from the ADCOM.I'm not sure if it's one, the other, or both, but KCOM taking their entire 'wait list' [accepted pending space] is straight from the admissions office. Thanks for the information also.
May I suggest a chill pill? Personally I liked both schools, hence making a decision (to an extent, it would just be easier to be rejected from one and accepted at the other) comes down to minutiae.
Does anyone know the email address of admission coordinators or directors at NSU-COM? I tried contacting them at "[email protected]" but there was no reply. Thanks guys.
Thanks for letting us know how it works.

howdy...i have an interview march 19th (i know its late but i didnt submit my primary apps til mid jan). just a couple questions;
1) is it a fact that all interviews at this moment are for waitlist spots? this would impact my decision to actually goto my interview or not since i will be traveling form Nebraska.
2) hows the feel of the campus? since from what i have read it seems to be pretty populated.
3) i noticed that the recreation center has 2 full size bball courts, what i want to know is, are their usually full court 5 v 5 games going on all day? 😀
Well I got rejected. I'm not too surprised since I got exposed on the "list all schools you're applying to and accepted or rejected". It still stings a bit and it only makes me a bit more worried about my other applications.
Is Summer Term for remedial classes or part of the regular M1 year?
If it's strictly talking about COM, then summer term refers to your MII year when you begin in July and during that "summer term," you will take pathology and pharmacology.I was referring to the bolded. What is summer term for?
