When it asks to list the courses that are required to apply to their med school, it also asks for the course Number. What is the course number? So far I've seen it for GW and Dartmouth.

Is anyone else having trouble saving their information on the SLU secondary?

Yes, only when I try to write anything though. I can save all my answers, but when I try to explain what I'll be doing this year, I get an error.

Apparently UCSD and Harvard are out. If you have received them, could you please post the prompts and the word limits.

Don't worry I still haven't gotten it yet either.

BU is sending them out in batches. so don't worry just yet if you haven't received yours.

GAH!!!!

YOU GUYS ARE MESSING UP MY HIGHLY SCIENTIFIC STUDY!

The real question was what was happening with people using Gmail as their email provider for AMCAS-related correspondence. I want to figure out if BU's email makes it to the 'normal' mail folder, as have my correspondences with UIC, UW, and MCW.

When this gets published in the Journal of Kitten Neurology I will give you acknowledgment. Possibly authorship.

I use gmail, have never messed with my filters, and definitely got BU a few days ago. hope that helps

AECOM just e-mailed me to invite me to complete their secondary.
Its On!

Actually I just spoke with Paul in the admissions office at Harvard. He said the IT dept has not posted the secondary online yet. He estimated it would be another 10 days for it to post, and then emails would be sent with an invitation to complete the online secondary.

I just recieved an email from aecom saying they got my amcas and to start filling out their secondary.

the secondary app is an acrobat reader file, does anyone know how to type directly into it, or am I really going to have to print it out and hand write my responses?

If you download Foxit reader, you can type directly in. But if you save it, there will be a gaudy box at the time saying that you edited it with foxit reader. It can be removed, but it's a pain.

I just got my secondary from UCSD, so that can be added to the list of e-mail only invites.

I haven't heard anything from:

NYU
U Colorado
UCLA
UCSF
Harvard
Penn

Anyone else have?

Peachykeen, when were you verified? Trying to figure out how long it's taking UCSD to send email invites.

Oh, and to answer your question, Harvard said it'll be about 10 days before they post their online secondary and send people emails with the link.

I was wondering if the 2 individual letters they require are a max or a min?
Does anyone know?

I got EVMS's secondary today (screened-and i'm from CA) 🙂and michigan state's. sooo many essays! i feel like im answering the same questions over and over and over

EVMS...are they email invite?

never mind...I just saw that they are email invite.

I'm still waiting for EVMS...and my amcas was submitted on the 21st. Hmmm. Anyone else in the same boat?

So I am attempting to stop being a slack and actually do all of these secondaries and right now Im looking at Columbia's

Can someone please give me an example of the format they used to answer the following questions?

  • In what collegiate extracurricular activities did you engage? (list format, using commas – 760 character limit)
  • Please list collegiate honors, awards, and memberships in honorary societies (list format, using commas – 345 character limit)

Eg.
Two time All American, Swimming; Deans List fall 1998 and spring 2000-2002; Underwarter basket weaving champion, 1999.

Excellent! Preliminary data. Now maybe I can try to get funding from the NIH.

(yes, that helps a lot, thanks.)

Thanks! Although I have no idea how Ill be able to compete against the underwater basket weaving champion! :scared:

Is everyone else following this simple format also? No explanations of extracurricular groups or anything?

"IMPORTANT! if you have received special recognition for community service performed as an college undergraduate or after, please attach a letter, not an email, to your Secondary Application describing the activity. If applicable, attach a copy of the award."

This was at the bottom of the email invite Einstein sent out for their secondary. My question is, if I listed the award as one of my 15 things on the AMCAS under honors/awards/activities etc., should I still send a letter? Are they really going to look through all of my work experiences to find it or would it be good to refresh their memories? On the other hand I don't want to be redundant...

They asked for it, so I'd give it to em. A short letter, maybe worded a bit differently than your AMCAS. Especially if you can send a copy of the award.

I use gmail too, and while BU went into my regular inbox, SLU went into my spam folder.

Anyone get anything from UNC, Drexel, or Temple yet? If so when did you get it and if not then does anyone know when these guys send their secondaries out? I know its still early, but I was just wondering.

hey i just got the BU email invite..but the email doesn't tell me what my login and Kerberos password is. is anyone else having this problem or am i missing something? did they send an email prior to this one with the login info that i somehow didn't get???

Thanks!

can someone try to update the list? that'd be great 👍

ahh I just saw georgetown's secondary in my spam folder. it was sent to me 8 days ago.😱

good old AECOM with the easy secondary 👍

for AECOM, are you guys printing it out and filling it in by hand?

a lot of the ones i've seen allow you type in information. just want to make sure that's not the case here.

I was wondering about this, too. I've seen a grad student actually type his information on the AECOM app, but I have no idea how he did it. Input here would be great.

Blah nevermind. 😛

I have Foxit reader, so I typed everything in except my signature.

EDIT: You can download it here: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php. You can type into the fields, but if you save it, they put a text box in the corner that says you edited it with their software. It's just a textbox, so you can delete it when you open it back up, but I'd personally just hand-fill it out (maybe not for AECOM, but maybe some of the longer ones), then go through and transfer all the answers when you finish it, then print it off right away.

Nice! I haven't used it yet, but it sounds like a winner. 😀

BU sent out two separate emails - one gave your login info, the subject of the email was "Boston University Web Account Registration." Then there was the one it sounds like you're looking at now - "Initial Contact." Mine came an hour or so apart - the "Initial Contact" actually came first. Check your SPAM box for the other one?

Thanks for the reply. I got the Initial Contact one yesterday at 6pm and I still have yet to get my login info. I don't think it went in my spam...I've been deleting things in there, and I don't think I saw it there, although I'm panicking now and doubting myself. Did the login email go into your spam box? I have gmail...

Thanks!!

I got an email invitation to fill it out last night, as did one of my friends from college.

i think that they are trying to see if we can follow directions. no one could fill 1100 characters in list format. i think they are testing our self control. i say this because they also give you the option of uploading another document to say whatever you want. i say follow the directions. if you really want to elaborate then upload another document.:luck:
That's not true...
people who put themselves through private colleges can in fact fill 1100 chars with just job titles...i've run out of room :-(
i had 8 w-2s just last year when i did my taxes

If you have Adobe Pro you can use the typewriter function.

For those of you who submitted secondaries before your AMCAS was verified:

If the form asked for your GPA/BCPM, did you calculate yours using the AMCAS formula or use the one from your transcript (Columbia has a question like this)? Or should I wait until my AMCAS is verified (hopefully soon sine its been under review for over a week) to enter the exact GPA they give? I really want to submit the secondary but I want to be accurate.

Any advice? 😕 Thanks

I use adobe acrobat to put in text for pdf files that dont have the text spaces. Seriously though, these schools should just use text boxes. 🙄
