Would anyone be able to swap interview dates for Mount Sinai? I have 11/6, switching for 11/12. Thank you!
This has by far been one of the worst application cycles for specializing and it doesn't appear to be changing in a positive direction. There's way too many applications for too few spots. People have woken up that general dentistry isn't what it used to be.patiently waiting ^ anyone else get an abnormally low number of invites than they were expecting? received far more rejections than anticipated
Kind of hard to predict. You could use last year's thread to gauge, as some people updated it for the second wave. But I think some people also get random invites after the main wave that they dont post on here. So all in all, hard to tell. When is the "second wave" where they send out other invites for people that can't make the interviews due to conflicts?

I feel like this is objectively false, for OMFS in recent history at least. Subjectively, people seem to be waking up to the fact that uprooting your life for 4-6 years, letting interest on your student loans accrue, and tolerating how you're treated during your training while your peers have relatively easy lives, high earning potential, work life balance, and 4-6 years of time in the stock market. This has by far been one of the worst application cycles for specializing and it doesn't appear to be changing in a positive direction. there was a jump in applicants and competitiveness during covid when everyone had ample time to study for the cbse. its just leveling out to baseline nowI feel like this is objectively false, for OMFS in recent history at least. I think this is a lot of why quality and quantity of OMFS applications has been trending down, unfilled spots going up etc.

Last year had fewer unfilled spots than 2024, and a higher total number of applicants. Too early to tell whether OMFS is getting more or less competitive.I feel like this is objectively false, for OMFS in recent history at least.
