Duke and CCLCM both have 9...
Miami has 12.
Also, do not prewrite for Duke. They change their prompts significantly and often.

Yah, I went to the past threads and saw that. I was going to do all the long ones first, but NOPE.....Miami has 12.

And you are Hercules. Now jump in to the river Styx, grab your Megara that is your MD motivation, and let's get this bread! This is soooooo much work. Ughhh.
I thought the time after finishing MCAT and submitting primaries would be relaxing but secondary writing is actually hades.
I am just stuck here trying to get my 1350 word autobiography down to 1200 for Vanderbilt....
Ugh, I hate the autobiography essay! It is definitely my least favorite secondary essay... I'm not Benjamin Franklin, why do you need an autobiography? How about I write one at the end of my life? Just put IOU for that essay.
Lol writing the autobiography is thankfully different than my PS. My entire PS takes place over the course of 3 weeks, so it is like 2 sentences of my autobioI remember hating writing it too. It's basically "Write another personal statement but make it different this time."

Is it typical for schools to have multiple secondary essay prompts? The first school I'm looking at now has like 3-4 mandatory prompts.
These next two weeks will be madness.
Has anyone gotten any pre-transmission secondaries yet? I would have thought that with 21 schools I would have at least one...
Almost every school is post-transmission, as per last year's secondary tracker:
Sheet #2, sort by Column F, A to Z.
Yo, this is gold. Where is this at?
I am on my 5th secondary now and that is where I am at. Copy/paste - adjust to word and character count, change to fit specific wording if prompt. Why do the mission statements of the vast majority of the schools look nearly identical? It's so boring.
I honestly won't feel bad if I copy and paste it essays to different schools because these secondary prompts and mission statements look like they're copy and pasted from each school.
literally the "can I copy your homework" meme. Why do the mission statements of the vast majority of the schools look nearly identical? It's so boring.
There are only so many ways to say "Heal patients with science, compassion, and a diverse educational environment" without sounding pretentious.literally the "can I copy your homework" meme.
I am using a credit card so I can just think of it as a once-monthly bill as opposed to the soul sucking endeavor it really is.Ready your bank accounts. I know I posted this gif already. Get over it.
Transmission tomorrow. Ready your email notifications. Get your excel spreadsheets up to speed. Remember that a bad Ochem grade is not adversity.
To anyone needing encouragement, reminder that we are all going through the same ****. Here is a tune to sing along as you cry through the stress:
That is our anthem now. Class of 2024, first class that lives by the elements of harmony (I have a 3 year old daughter, don’t judge me)Yea, I lol'ed
Looking over last year there were only 14 day one’ers. I didn’t look at any of the names of the schools.Really wondering if I'll actually get any secondaries tomorrow. It would be kind of nice to knock a few out over the weekend before the big flood comes next week.

The real flood is next week, but build your ark and get your incestuous pairs at the ready.
“Only” 14 could be a lot if you applied to most of them. Lol. Idk which schools they are but I’m ready for this jelly regardless.
ah yes, my arch nemesis.ready for this jelly regardless
I just added up my secondary fees. Is it sad that I was actually pleasantly surprised that it was only $1900? That is still a lot...Also, I nearly cried earlier when I calculated how much everything will cost for this cycle
Mine is around 2,500. That is if none of my schools pre screenI just added up my secondary fees. Is it sad that I was actually pleasantly surprised that it was only $1900? That is still a lot...
I didn’t either. Sadness ensues. Tempted to respond to the podiatry emails just so I have something to look forward to...I haven’t gotten any yet. aM i sCrEwEd?
maybe we need to retake the MCAT ? :/I didn’t either. Sadness ensues. Tempted to respond to the podiatry emails just so I have something to look forward to...

And us jackass high stats complain about the lack of instant gratification. @Goro would be proud. You were scoring higher on practice tests than on your real one so you might actually do better if you retake (which is insane)... @MemeLord and I got lucky and went up from our practice scores. I highly doubt I would do better if I took again.
Hmmmm Maybe being a landlord in Oregon will help me for OHSU? LOL Thank you for the tip!I highly recommend calling into state schools that you have connections with. I just called into a state school that I have connections with and learned that their msar was not up to date.
If you're in doubt about applying to a school simply because of not having residency but you do have other connections don't hesitate to call in or apply. Typically the few students who get accepted at these state schools are ones who have ties to the state!
Yesh of course! For me it was a little more personal than that Haha. My birth state and the state I consider my second home. It is my number 1 or 2 choice after my state school.Hmmmm Maybe being a landlord in Oregon will help me for OHSU? LOL Thank you for the tip!

Though the pool for people seeking an MD is large, the pool of people who do not qualify but want to try is infinitely larger. The masters and pre-health programs need an outlet for getting students too, because otherwise no one would ever hear about them. It's actually annoying that AAMC gave my email to a list of masters and other pre-health programs. I thought it was going to be medical schools
I don't even think I can make this spam stop at this point

It is annoying as all get out for those of us that don't want to see it, though. But they have their purpose (except a lot of the sketchy ones...).
Shoulda been a week and a half earlier, muh dude lol I got on like within 5 minutes of transmission on 6/28...But it has been a relatively nice pace since then at like 2-4 per day except weekends. Managable if you prewrote. If not, copypasta is your friend! lolum??? Why didn't anyone mention that secondaries start flooding as soon as apps get verified??? I only have 2 weeks to submit all these secondaries and all of them literally are coming in today!!!
Thanks Elmo. You're the man.Shoulda been a week and a half earlier, muh dude lol I got on like within 5 minutes of transmission on 6/28...But it has been a relatively nice pace since then at like 2-4 per day except weekends. Managable if you prewrote. If not, copypasta is your friend! lol
