As an endodontist, how hard is it to pay off student loans under $400k?

Its not. I went to probably the most expensive program (in terms of tuition) in the country. My coresidents had student loans upwards of 700k when we finished. 4 years out they're almost done paying them off.
Totally depends on your lifestyle tho. If that rose gold Royal Oak or that ___<insert expensive handbag name here>___ is more important to you than paying off student loans, obviously be paying them for a while.

Hey man I feel ya. This whole process is very disappointing for sure. I applied to way more programs than you and the only response I got back so far is for rejections. If you are almost 600k in then maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Attending expensive programs like NYU or Columbia is going to get your debt to 900k-1mill. With the BBB you might even have to take out private loans to finish residency. I hope for the best for you but if you dont get in this cycle I'd work on getting some loans paid off aggressively and then reapply again in the future. Remember that we are still dentists even if we dont get in!

I was informed by a friend who applied to University of Alabama at Birmingham that they sent invites yesterday evening for interviews on Friday July 18th.


I lost my hope getting there 🙁 I have only West Virginia University left and I am not optimistic..

This is so disheartening to hear, I'm sorry. Objectively, what do you think went wrong or what was "off" during your interview(s)?

It is so much time, effort, and money to only be crushed when not chosen. All the interview prep does is train you into what they want you to say, not who you really are. If they really want the best, should it really be about your interview skills, or who you know that gets you there, but it should be about heart, dedication, and true caring of one’s patients.

Hello, I have verbally committed to a program at my home school but I also received an interview invite to Harvard recently. To confirm, I ethically cannot attend the Harvard interview correct? I feel sad for turning their invite down, but I also don’t know much about their program to risk burning bridges. Realistically how does someone attend and accept the Harvard interview/offer since they tend to be later? I had 7 interviews before then so do people typically turn the previous ones down just to gamble it all for them and put their eggs in one basket?
