Out of curiosity, those of you with SOs - if you're not married, will your SOs move with you, or will you give a long distance relationship a shot? That's one of the reasons I'm on a self-imposed dating ban haha
She's applying to law school this fall, so we are hoping to get into schools near each other! If not, well guess we will figure out a long distance solution lol

Awwwww!! That's really cute. I hope it works out for you two!!

It was funny! We also met online, so we’re part of the cool club on this thread.
I kinda skipped over most of the online dating chat cause I wanted to make the joke with the little free time I had. You probably mentioned it somewhere in there I guess.

I much prefer kayaking! No heights, I can get into the water anytime I start to get hot, I can see cool things, it's a great workout...need I go on?

Fun story: I went hiking on a second date with this one guy. I literally got heat stroke and tried not to get sick the whole time. Definitely one of my worst 5 dates ever.

I love kayaking too. I used to go ocean kayaking all the time. My wife and I went on one of our first dates and she told me halfway out into the ocean that last time she was on a kayak she got so sick her brother had to paddle them in lol.

My bf is currently doing a Fulbright so we are actually in a LDR right now. He’ll be back in the States in July of next year. Depending on how things end up, he has considered moving where I end up. I think it’ll depend on whether he decides he wants to get his masters soon after his Fulbright or if he wants to work for a bit. He is open to pretty much anywhere, although he has asked me to avoid the state of Connecticut

It works out kind of nicely cause he doesn’t know what he’ll be doing when he gets back, so he isn’t tied to a particular place.

Also, he and I met on a swiping dating app, lol.

If

If sunbodi likes pasty white dudes who fall between average and mediocre in every way then boy is she in luck
And you know what? If you want some more positivity for the day you’re a med school applicant. You have at least one interview. You are literally in the top 5% of all people who have ever attended college. That’s pretty cool. To you, and to everyone here, you are far from average or mediocre. You are all far from average or mediocre. Recognize how accomplished you all are. SDN can get us down from time to time when you get trapped in the comparison loop, but recognize within yourself how far you’ve gotten.

SDN should have a dating forum. And we married folk could lurk and vote for potential pairings. I’m finding this all very entertaining 🤣
There is something of that sort on SDN and the married folks practically live in there. Like, find your own spot!

I'm eating wings and binge watching Netflix. You're not alone. It's crazy how many people on this site are cuffed.
Nontrads are less likely to have premed advisors or in the know premed friends so I think we are more likely to come here for advice and more likely to stick around to socialize about this process as we have no one IRL. TBH this process would be pretty isolating for me without SDN.

So my kids are apparently plotting to kill at least my wife. My younger one kicked the older one in the face, so my wife swatted her on the butt. The older one than comforted her by hugging her and telling her that they would kill my wife.

Last night my daughter was trying to pop a balloon by jumping off of the couch on to the balloon. Before she jumped on her third try she whispered to herself "I have the heart of a lion" and then jumped and successfully popped it.

Kids say the darndest things.

Yesterday on the way home from church my kids were quiet for a bit so my wife looked into the back seat. My older one had a huge smile on her face and was kind of laughing to herself.

my wife: “what are you thinking about honey?”

kiddo: *laughs* sharks licking people! It would be so funny!

FYI, you don't need to presoak beans if you have an instant pot! I got a hankering for freshly made hummus after watching a food show, and decided to buy the beans today. After 2 minutes on high pressure (and 10 mins natural release), they're just as soaked as they would've been if I had done it over night! I'm so amazed, I just had to share hahaha

“Why is it snowing in the Summer?”
“Because there is a cold front moving in.”
“Will there be a cold back?”

I believe it is only kidney beans and navy beans you need to soak because they are deadly if uncooked.

So many why questions. Also my 3 year old is insanely smart. Like I think she might legitimately be gifted. She has complete conversations about pretty complex topics and a really good memory. I brought my otoscope out to check my other one’s ears, and the 3 year old asked me if I was going to check her for an ear infection. I was like uh yes lol.

"They" always say that if you want to get a child tested to see how gifted they are, the earlier the better. Your kids and Meme's kids all sound to be very smart!!

I feel the same about my three year old (granted, she turns four in a week). But today we watched a kurzegasagt video on Work holes and afterwards she explained to me "Wormholes are a tunnel to outer space. Black holes are like the inside place and white holes are like the outside place. Exotic matter pushes the wormhole open so we can go FAAAAAAAAR away." Like.....she watched a video about space travel and understood it......WTF.

I never knew why kidney beans had to be soaked

The soaking isn’t to make it less toxic. That’s what the cooking is for. The soaking is to make it cook faster. You can soak it all you want but if you don’t cook it to a certain temperature you can get sick.

How many licks does it take to get to the center?

Lol yeah. Sometimes I think my 3 year old is smarter than me. I’m fairly sure she will be at some point.
